My nephew, Josh, died this past summer from a fentanyl overdose. Without a doubt, he made some poor choices, but he was a thoughtful, caring man and loving father. Josh was working hard to overcome his addiction. But, from what I could see, he had been so beat down by our "so called" (justice system) for many years.
It wasn't drugs, but ignorance that killed him.
Quite literally, he did not die of a heroin overdose.
    God bless you Kenny!
Maybe McDonald's isn't everyone's idea of success, but, after just a year and a half, and probably not an easy one at that, you are the manager, and I I can tell you are respected and trusted, because, they gave you the keys!

The restriction of safe pain medications is why he died. Locking safe drugs away making them nearly impossible to access isnt the cure. As we've seen now pain meds are very hard to come by, and with a void in thier availability in comes massive amounts of unsafe n extremely harmful qnd dangerous replacements. Our society deionized pain pills over 2-3k deaths a year, 2021 jad over 130k deaths from fentanyl laced drugs. From 1996 the relase uear of oxycontin to 2013 we had collectively lost arnd 100k people in the US over those 18years. 2014 the first big year of fent pills enters and we see 70k deaths in one year. So locking up pain meds because 100k people died over 2 decades was bad, but the cure now results in 2 decades of death every year and growing. If doctors could treat addicts with stable doses of narcotics, the crimes related to drug seeking will dissappear like petty theft robberies etc. deaths will drop to pre fentanyl levels, and the cartell wont be able to financially survive and there goes all that garbage. Canda gives access to addicts to use dilaudid, they jave barely any fentanyl deaths, its never gonna be 100% correctable but we can limit the permanent harm done to so many. I see so many really smart good kids get curious and want to try a xanx. That 1st xanx is the end of their lives as its mqde with fentanyl.

Drug is such a demonized term stemming from blind hate.
There are recent studies with addicts that suggests that the opioid crisis can be alleviated through the use of certain chemical compounds (such as seroternegic psychedelics) that are non-addictive and coupled with psychotherapy.

I was at a formal event, walking around serving tables. I started to feel pain and took oxy. At the end of the night, I looked down and realized that I had MASSIVE blisters on my feet from my shoes. There’s no way I would be able to ignore the pain without oxy. Those blisters left scars. Goes to show oxy is the best distraction.

I had a huge tumor pulled from my spinal cord. I have CRPS in more than half my body because of it. They took me off the pain meds that kept me stable. I'm in too much pain without even moving I can't get out of bed or go for walks. NOW I have seizures and black out trying to sit up to eat, brush my teeth or take a shower. The pain of typing this will last for only hours if I stop doing anything else. I need help. I'm told help does not exist but that is a LIE. I had help before. I was told by a neuropsychologist 10 years ago not to stop the meds they took me off of because this would happen and it could kill me. I wish it did. I would prefer death to lack of pain control.

No "addiction treatment" for opioids works. Drug addiction makes permanent, measurable changes to the brain the same way cutting off a finger makes permanent physiological changes to a hand. The closest "treatment" that does anything is government-sponsored addiction for life with free Suboxone or Methadone opioids. And drug addiction is not a "disease" any more than playing Russian Roulette is a "disease". It's a choice that one makes. A very stupid and selfish choice. There are only two ways for society to stop drug addiction:
      1. People choose not to start doing drugs on their own.
      2. People who do drugs are SEVERELY punished, up to and including death.
If you think this is harsh consider two things. First, consider the actual cost that drug addicts impose not on themselves but on those around them and on society as a whole. Second, consider that the only places that have come even close to eradicating drug abuse are places like Singapore
Unfortunately there are a lot of selfish and stupid people today who actually want to make it EASIER, even LEGAL, to take addictive drugs!
