I love Occidental rigs. I start my first day as a journeyman carpenter this Wednesday and know my rig will last me years. Occidental makes a fine product.
I bought one. It is an expensive purchase but once you get passed that you won't look back! I would recommend getting the shoulder strap if you like to carry a full load. Something that will last forever and can pass down!
I got to say this beats the Doctor bag. As soon as this one came in I sent the dr. Bag back and got my money back. This bag is amazing. I'm a plumber, it's not our usual type of bag, but it's perfect for my everyday carry.
For open top bags I like the occidental 5588 better. I like the 3 divided sections and the occidental bag seems to fit my carpentry tools better. The veto bags are made in china but the quality is amazing and they stand behind their products. I'm more of a closed top guy and love my vetos, I haven't tried the dr yet but hopefully soon..
Dave- Thanks for the review. I am considering this bag as I like opened top bags. Do you prefer this bag over the VETO PROPAC OT bags? I don't mind spending the money for either brand but Occidental is USA made. Not sure of the VETO.
Love your reviews. And have made multiple purchases based on your suggestions. However with this review you didn't seem to really be into this bag. To be this bag seems old school and out dated. More for the old timers. Keep the reviews coming

Dream bag for sure! That's a tool bag I would carry around proudly.

I'm definitely a fan of closed top bags. The 5588 is absolutely beautiful but I have my eye on the ultimate bag now, the Dr....

I'm not a fan of open tote bags because I live in the Pacific Northwest where it rains a lot. do you put a tarp on top of that tool bag???

Nice bag but I will stick with veto pro pack. Now occidental tool belts are awesome
i have a 26' tape and i remove the clip and i put it upside down in my belt because the rubber is really sticky on the leather

No spot for a framing square? I made a similar toolbox out of plywood, even has tiny wheels on the bottom.
