Pro-tip you’ll love. Just core the apples, quarter, put in blender with a little water and lemon juice- peels on! Blend up and add to stock pot with spices and any sugar you want to use. The extra pectin in the peels thickens up the butter nicely. I simmer on low until my spoon stands in the pot, a couple hours. Perfect every time. And you’ll love the apple peeler, slicer, corer when freeze drying or dehydrating apples.
When I do my apple butter I only use a half cup of brown sugar and 2 teaspoons of salt. After its completely reduced I add a pat of butter and a teaspoon if vanilla. The flavor is divine
We've found it easier to put the spike into the stem end and just start turning that way it gets all of it. Just try to get it in straight so it gets all of the core.
I made my apple butter from the peels and vinegar from the cores I also made juice from a few apples that may have had bruises or spots I needed to cut out then made apple pie filling with the meat of the apple, if I get tired of canning [or just don't have time] I dehydrate the apple meats. Raising 3 grandsons can keep you busy in the kitchen, most canning days are 12-14 hour days. So ladies take your breaks when you can.DON'T FORGET TO MAKE APPLE PECTIN. Apple butter I added water and cooked down for a good 12 hours, then added more water and used the emulsifier then added cinnamon & sugar and reduced to my desired thickness. Peels hold so many nutrients. The apple cider vinegar always has mother in it after 2-3 weeks The juice I also added water/sugar to taste and brewed to my liking bottled and froze some in plastic bottles.
My Mother used to make the old time Apple Stack Cake, with Apple Butter. I do it now. It turns out delicious. 5 or 6 layers high, It's a great cake. Really enjoyed this video. Thanks for the memories! A job well done! GOD bless
Great editing on this video, you guys crack me up so often. I'm not sure how I ever made it through life without your videos. Y'all are so dang funny. Love to you.
Zack, when that guy came on and said, “It’ll git yew drunk!” I laughed out loud!! The goofey look on his face was priceless. The mock moonshine would be a good gift for folks who drink!! ♥️🙏🏼🙏🏼♥️
I did Goldenrod tincture with fresh ginger, lemon peel, and cloves plus hazelnut, French vanilla, Texas pecan, and Maple bourbon flavor extracts yesterday with flavored coffee beans. About 6 weeks, we'll see.
We got 10 bushel if apples off our tree. I freeze dried several bushel, made a lot of applesauce. Canned a ton of apple pie filling. All the peels were freeze dried and then powdered. Votes used for vinegar. And a bunch refrigerated to eat fresh. Can't bring myself to make apple butter. The color made me think of rotten apples when I was a kid
a few helpful hints. set your peeler so it doesn't peel so deep. set the tension so it starts peeling at the very bottom of the apple. Then throw that thing away and get the type that clamps to your counter top before you scream in frustration. lol.
Nothing like cooking apples in your kitchen! I love making apple butter and applesauce, too. Sometimes even apple syrup.💜 I mean apples are the essence of fall aren’t they?😊🍁🍂
You can also take skins of apples, peach & pears. Chop up freeze in qt bags pit apple, peach or pear bread on bag. Using zucchini bread recipe makes amazing breads
You guys, I'm going to have my hubby watch this video, so he sees that he can help me out with canning. Apple butter is a great idea, but I never made ACV or the Moonshine! You guys worked so fast together and accomplished 3 fetes in 1. Thanks! They all sound great and I'll try it.
Apple butter is great on pancakes and waffles. I also use it when I make cinnamon rolls. I do the butter and cinnamon then instead of brown sugar I spread apple butter on it. Roll and bake. So yummy.
I made an Honey Crisp Apple Pie an AppleButter yesterday. I have one of those peelers. I can peel faster with my hands. Have fun you all. Lv an Prayers.
Using a steam juicer will give you more apple juice, plus you can freeze dry the pulp from the apples for apple flavoring if you blend it up. You can also Steam the cores and skin for more juice. I love my steam juicer.
Was the orchard called Carvers Orchard? If it is, that's where we always go to get ours too! We love that place. Love your channel! Alice Sorry gotta a little excited and commented before you said Apple Barn lol. Still y'all were only about 30 or 40 minutes from where I live🙂
I have a Pampered Chef peeler that clamps to a counter. It actually has 2 sizes of slicers...the larger I like better for pie. Recently I've really enjoyed the attachment for Kitchenaid. Those make the job of dealing with lots of apples so much easier. That apple butter looks amazing!
Always enjoy watching you guys,. I've made apple butter with no sugar just spices. In Ireland we only hot pack,. Still pasts years . Never heard of water bathing until watched Americans.
Apple peeler is really nice, I have one I don’t think they’re the same brand. Mine has a handle on the back bottom of the Apple pillar and you push that down and it suctions the whole thing to your counter. Have fun!
When I make the apple butter I do the same recipe from The Ball canning book I put it into my regular blender and that way it gets it really nice and smooth and there's no clumps left in it because with apple butter it's a little bit different than applesauce you want it to be as smooth as a baby's behind or like butter. Also if you take the leftover Apple scraps from your moonshine flavored Apple drink what's left over at the apples when you dump out for the juice if you take that you can turn that into apple butter as well I do that all the time when I eat juice apples. I love to use apple butter on top of my pancakes and waffles I also like to use it instead of jelly on a peanut butter sandwich I've been known to put it on top of oatmeal and I've been known to just eat it straight.
I live in South central Missouri and I can make up 200 gallons a year from my own personal use. Love Apple pie. Do you have an Apple press to press the juice out of the apples
Just made applesauce, a 50/50 blend of Winesap and Melrose apples. In addition to apple cider vinegar you can use the peels and cores to make apple scrap jelly ☺️
I was doing apples today and your video came up. I will follow you for the vinegar. I have Nov. 20 the marked on the calendar. First time for vinegar and I have made gallons of apple sauce. Looking forward to the next step.
Apple butter, apple jelly, apple pie filling and ACV today. Unfortunately, the new apple peeler we just got (a cheaper version of the previous one we had), decided to hose up in the middle of peeling so I had to hand peel the rest. Luckily, the remainder of the bushel we have is for apple sauce and since I have a hand food mill, I don't have to peel those apples.. With our apple butter, if the apples are sweet, I don't use sugar at all, for the apples today, which were a tad bit tart, I used a half cup for the crockpot full. We also add more apples, as it cooks down. Let it cook really soft for the immersion blender to work better. To get it to thicken up, you have to take the lid off and let it reduce. Just put a cooking screen over it. The ACV, you don't have to add anything, but scraps and water and it works just the same. On the peeler, you don't have to push the apple up and pull the peeler part back, just crank it up until it's all the way through, then use the lever to unlatch and pull the crank back, your apple falls right off all peeled. Blessings in Christ!
🛑🛑 Thank you for the info on the freeze dryer being on sale! So excited to purchase one. Where do you purchase the Mylar bags? And is there a certain one I should look for?Have you and Jen already done a video on freeze drying? If not,I’d love to see it. 🤍🤍🤍🤍🤍 THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU BOTH DO! Love your channel!! GOD BLESS YOU ALL💟
If you have a Foley food mill like, hand crank mill you don't need to remove peels or cores for apple butter. You do need to remove seeds, stems, and bad spots.
I love my Apple peeler. I use it to peel potatoes too! I take the corer piece off and It will peel the potatoes and leave them whole. Great for potato canning days!
I'm here in Florida one of my favorite things ( during my party years) was ever clear cherries. Basically what you do is you get a large thing of maraschino cherries and pour out all the juice then you replace it with everclear put a lid on it place it in your refrigerator for 6 weeks. Every bite is a new experience until you just don't remember anything LOL.
I have one of those peelers. My complaint is that the apple has to be "normal" apple shape for it to work well. I'd rather use a paring knife. And a corer if I wanted apple rings.
I bought an attachment for my KitchenAid mixer that also peals and cores the apples. I found the emersion blender to not work either and I wondered if it was because of the thin slices of apple as opposed to the chunkier apples when doing it by hand. I made applesauce not apple butter and did it in my roaster pan. I ended up letting it cool some and then ran it thru the blender. We like it a little chunky too so I didn’t blend it all. Your apple butter looked beautiful!
Never tried Everclear until I was in my 60s. I barely let it hit my lips and baby it burned all the way down. My 21-year-old grandsons went to Ole Smoky Distillery this summer. The one that lives with me brought several flavors back. The banana pudding is dangerous!!😂 I’ll have to try making us some apple pie moonshine.
Make sure you weigh down your apple scraps just like you would any other ferment! I use apple juice in my apple butter, not water and normally 1 cup, but I’m w/ you on the sugar they always add more than ya need! I like mine thick!
Apple pie moonshine: "you can hit it Thanksgiving morning when all the family's there, if you know what I mean." 😉😉😉 I did laugh out loud on that one. Yes brother, I totally know what you mean...haha I'm going to make this.
Oh that's a really great idea! You 2 rock! I'm making apple pie moonshine for my family to go along with the extracts I've been making them. Thank you thank you for the recipe idea!
@@StiversHomestead I saw that video and I told my husband I wanted to try it this year because it all looked so good and I told Apple Barn you guys were the reason why we are trying them this year💜
Love my apple/peeler/corer…. have 2 of them. When making my apple butter it really cuts down the prep time 👍 Oh my goodness… I’ve been to the “Apple Barn”…what an amazing place!! I make apple butter during holidays & give as gifts 🎁
$500 off Harvest Right freeze dryers - affiliates.harvestright.com/1165.html
Don't move the peeler part. Just twirl it up and the top of the apple will get peeled also

I make food scrap vinegar a lot, pineapple and lemon and oranges. Yum
Dipping your pork chops in apple butter is really good too.
I added some of mine to plain yogurt. Mmmm mmmm try it! It's delish.
You guys are so 🥰 cute and fun and I always learn so much from y'all!! Thank you and God Bless!!!
OMG You Guys. That's a LOT of Everclear for that much apple juice. Fun video thank you.
There is a sandwich shop where I live that puts apple butter on the pulled pork and chicken bbq sandwiches. Super tasty.
I enjoyed the video. I just wanted to say I like CHUNKY applesauce
Grew up with apple butter on potato pancakes with sausages.

Wait what is Apple pectin and how do you make that?! Sounds interesting and something I haven't never knew about!
My grandkids love it when i add it to the pancake batter. Then of course they want butter and more apple butter on top. Yum
Edu for all 3!!!! Jackpot!!!! 💰💰💰Thanks!! I've been waiting for apple butter.🍏🍎🧈 ✝️🙏💜✌️😎👍🥧🍁🍂

Have you tried Ever Crisp apple very yummy it’s a cross between Fuji and honey crisp
Peeler! I was recently gifted one. I was wondering how to adjust it! :)
Hmmm I have true moonshine. Spiking an apple cider drink sounds good!
a few helpful hints. set your peeler so it doesn't peel so deep. set the tension so it starts peeling at the very bottom of the apple. Then throw that thing away and get the type that clamps to your counter top before you scream in frustration. lol.
I make apple butter and applesauce, then use some of it to make apple butter breads, and applesauce bread, cookies and cakes. As well as canning it
You have a peeping tom at your window .......lol black and white cat.

Jed CRACKS ME UP, oh my gosh those edits! 🤣 I'm officially inspired to pull that apple corer/peeler out of the box!
If your peeler slicer is a suction cup type I suction mine to a cookie sheet. It catches the mess and suction stays put better.
Hi lots love from the uk 🇬🇧 I too have this apple preppier had ours for years .the best thing ever . 😊

I made all of these last few years and the moonshine came out just like pigeon forge
I loved apple butter when I was younger! Awesome sauce! ❤
I find my peeler works better if you put stem on first. Give it a try. Mine peels the whole Apple that way.
Find ya a peeler that clamps to the table or counter. It makes a big difference!
I make our apple butter low and slow. Good stuff!
I just used the apple peeler attachment for my Kitchen Aid mixer. It works wonderfully! And so fast.
Turn your apples around they will peel better.
I have two of those peelers. Potato masher works too ❤

I love the crocheted cloth for your hot jars :)
I've seen people use it for peeling potatoes without coring them
I live in South central Missouri and I can make up 200 gallons a year from my own personal use. Love Apple pie. Do you have an Apple press to press the juice out of the apples
I was given one of those several yrs ago, and have never used it. thnx for sharing. Love ur channel and ur gr8 content as always.
We eat apple butter on scrapple. It's really good on any salty or smoky meat. Try it out!
Hey Stivers
hugs from pam and john keep it coming on video
Just made applesauce, a 50/50 blend of Winesap and Melrose apples. In addition to apple cider vinegar you can use the peels and cores to make apple scrap jelly ☺️
🇦🇺You could bolt the Apple peeler to a heavy cutting board, so don’t have to hold it to the bench.
Yes we found a apple peeler like that at a flea market for $10 and have been using it a lot and it’s so handy to have
I was doing apples today and your video came up. I will follow you for the vinegar. I have Nov. 20 the marked on the calendar. First time for vinegar and I have made gallons of apple sauce. Looking forward to the next step.
Dang that was fast , my apple butter cooks for at least 6/8 hours with lids set off a little to let moisture cook off. Nice thick butter yummy.
Apple butter, apple jelly, apple pie filling and ACV today. Do you not heat up the jar flats in hot water before putting on jars?
Do they last in those Mylar bags for 25 years in room temp air or in a freezer. That makes a huge difference also

Apple Butter and Roast Chicken and in sandwiches cold yummy..

I agree!!! Same with potatoes. Works great if they are 'perfect'.
I love apple butter, I use 1 cup of sugar 1 cup of brown sugar in one of my batches and use it in pie filling and tarts
What do you do with the top apple part that didn’t peel? I have one of these but couldn’t figure out how to use it.

Kitchen aid has an attachment that peels, cords and slices.abd you don't have to manually crank the handle
Hey y'all. Love your channel. Jenn, where can I find the ladle/spoon you used for the apple butter? I need that in my life. Thank you
