The premise of this "clean up" being carnage is faulty. The carnage was what was happening with all this corruption to begin with. The destruction of the racket demands carnage.
@@dagneytaggart407 l So let’s replace the racket with an even more corrupt racket that has hoodwinked people into believing they were working to help them and instead are appointing rent seekers to the cabinet and funneling money to the Trump crime syndicate . And destroying the justice system so he is never accountable. Haven’t heard about the Price of goods since he was running.
Being ethical while doing it makes us the good guys. Doing it without caring about the carnage or fall out makes us no better than leftists. We are better than them. We need to act like it. This is our game to lose.

Agreed. They made the carnage/cancer.
As someone who has experienced years of abuse from the corrupt system, i have zero sympathy for those who abused our trust to target citizens! Those who didn't speak up need to go, too! They should be in jail, not just out of job!
What is our obligation to those who had been working in DEI? Nothing.
Maybe not, but they're still there; the question is what is to become of them.

The DEI troops are the foot soldiers who willingly participated in a corrupt machine. I think deep down, they knew the jobs they worked in are part of an elaborate racket. I also think they get a high talking down to all these evil white people, and thinking they exist in a higher moral ground than the other white people. Whatever skill they obtained from their jobs, they are useless in a civil society. I hope they recalibrate their existence and move on, get some other more noble marketable skills.
I admit I don't have much sympathy for the DEI workers now out of a job. It was a fake field to begin with. Maybe they were in turn conned, say by their colleges, but on some level, I have to feel they knew it was a grift and now this is just deserts for freeloading.
Oh hell yes. They absolutely knew it was a grift.

Since these bureaucrats were not contributing anything of value, their becoming unemployed will not have a negative impact.
Will they be getting unemployment?
The thing I dont like about Marxism was the revolutionary zeal that they had, the impatience they had for small, incremental change over time. No, they wanted change now. On some level I can see why, people were by in large impoverished and at the merci of the robber barons. Whats happening now with this Trump admin is the same revolutionary zeal as the marxists, except against the left rather than the right. Revolutions never end well.
I would hope their benefit payments will be less than their salary
@@ericrawson2909I would hope that 1 it’s less but not significantly so they can pay their bills temporarily & 2 that it has a set time limit. No more than two years to give them enough time but also a bit of a time crunch. Both would incentivize them to get real jobs that actually contribute to our society in some positive way
They're getting an EXTREMELY generous severance; 7 months of full pay plus benefits, but of course they'll NEVER mention that.
When cleaning up a mess, you always get a bigger mess first before it is cleaned up. As a Canadian that knows. we are going to feel some pain, I still support what is being done, it is long over due. Besides we have been in pain for 10 years with Drama Queen at the helm.

You're right. We've been kicked in the teeth too long; we're battle weary; but up to the task. Our squishy opponents don't really know what it means to sacrifice or suffer for a righteous cause. We knew, or learned from this; freedom ain't free. So many sacrificed for us; we're willing to step up to the pay window. Adults in the room now.
The disruption argument is always annoying. Like, we can't fix the tax system because all the tax lawyers will be out of a job and everyone in DC is a lawyer.

Agreed. The rebuild to a system that actually benefits the American people as a whole and not just cherry picked groups that are given perks in exchange for votes is gonna take all 4 of those years. No time to waste.
YEs. Further .. after 220ish years of largely +'ve US progress, the direction of the tide has reversed to the negative for the last 30 or so. This is standard for dominant "civilizations" and ideologies ( USA counts I believe ). 250 years is the typical lifespan and we were definitely on a path to collapse across the "west".
There is no guarantee that a relatively short 4 year presidential term will be at all sufficient to put the train back on the rails in a +'ve direction. In fact, it's VERY unlikely to be anywhere near sufficient given how few positive values actually gird our culture at this point. It's going to take many additional rowers hopping into the boat with the Trump admin, picking up an oar, and pulling in the same direction, for a lot more than just 4 years to get this boat back on a +'ve course.
Not sure we can avoid the late stage civilizational collapse to "reinvent + reorient" ourselves for the information age ... and I'm certain any such rescue will have to continue well past Trump but ... at least I now have hope that a significant # of people have finally woken up to the danger and size of the task ahead.

They seem to be either letting empathy get the best of them or afraid that Trump will go too far and they'll have been responsible for all the things leftists accused them they would by electing him. Where was the empathy for us from the left when they held up signs saying to gas the unvaccinated, fired people by the thousands for not taking them, told people not to come to Thanksgiving with us if we were conservative, etc? Where was the empathy when BLM and Antifa were throwing firebombs into citizens homes and businesses and burning at least one person alive in the process? This kind of softness is a layover from how long they were on the left, I think, and I think they are still fearing the reprisal of peers that comes from the left. It's their choice. They're just scared. The rest of us are free to disagree. If they're hesitant about ripping the band-aid off, there are reasons for it, after all they've been through.

When the stars align, you damn well need to take advantage of it.
Why must the public sector operate any different than the private sector, the sector that funds the public sector. Having worked in the Fortune 500 for over 30 years, this type of cost reductions, layoffs, etc. happens all the time. I not only don't have a pension but I I don't have guaranteed job security. Our system was so close to death, emergency open heart surgery is necessary in my opinion, we're not even close to doing more harm than good.
I think it's a clean up that's long overdue. I use the analogy of finally having an intervention with a family member who is a hoarder. The establishment has been a hoarder, and now the house is on the verge of being condemned. It's hard, stressful, things will be uncovered, but it's necessary if we are going to salvage our 'house' and sanity.
GOP-e commentator Hugh Hewitt put it something like this: - It isn't that people losing their jobs won't cause hardship and suffering but we simply can no longer afford to pay these government workers. When my mother was a young women she saw men in the streets of NY selling apples for 5 cents wearing really expensive overcoats and was grateful her father had kept his job. In the 60s and 70s I worked on Great Society programs and made a good living but when I saw they were not cost effective I moved on. It was lucky that I noticed and had the common sense to act - many did have such good luck and confused their self interest with their perception of the effectiveness of their programs. Years later I worked in remote Western Australia in Aboriginal Education and noticed that a fair proportion of the cars on the road where White-fellas like me employed by government departments to assist Aboriginal communities. Our local Federal MP (Labor party!) Graham Campbell called this "Living on the Black-Fella's problem." I chuckled. They , like many before in other industries, suddenly had a sea change, from farmers to coal minors, and the long slow drain on building quality products was moved away. Some were told to learn to code. Did everyone get upset for them? A buyout that was given is by all accounts, very generous. Many in the real, world just get by. What the President did, is doing and will do is show tremendous courage to take on such an enormously difficult challenge. You and other sane lefties, ❤ admit, the rot is deep, across the entire spectrum. To root this out is a phenomenally difficult task, and when you think about it, a hallmark of civilization is that we seem to create new and improved. @Bret Weinstein: There are several REAL (important) questions you don't even seem to be asking:

1. Will it work? Will it be effective?

2. Are thee appropriate (and truly problematic) individuals & policies being targeted?
getting rid of everyone who was assigned to investigate Trump is a HARD SELL (and there are many others!)
3. Who are the replacements for those who will be replaced? Are they competent/appropriate for their roles? AND are they just going to introduce a different "brand" of corruption (that may be more destructive/problematic)?
