- Hey guy today I am back with another walking tour which begins at the corner of Church and Nostrand avenue in Brooklyn and continue strait down to the cross roads of Utica and Church to experience how this vibrant, diverse, and multicultural community functions.
Church Ave was named for the old Dutch Church on Flatbush Ave and Church. The storefront churches you point out are there since that neighborhood changed from Italian and Jewish to the many different black nationalities now living there.
Thank you for the info
Thank you for showing me Bobby's dept store I used to make deliveries there... lol it was hard backing my truck in that loading dock...the traffic and the people would just keep walking while you're trying to back in.... And I just subscribed 👍🏾
You're welcome
Yah mon worked this area for 23 years delivering magazines thanks for the memories never no problems 👍

Thanks so much for this that is my neighbor hood I lived on 55th and church ave use to walk or take a dolla cab up and down church ave
You're welcome
Great video, thanks. Seventy years ago I would ride the trolley with my great-grandmother this exact trip from where I lived on East 54th or where she lived on East 42nd to Nostrand for the subway or to see a matinee at the Granada Theater on Nostrand and Church. It became a dollar theater in the early 70s when I was in Brooklyn College and then it closed and became a Pioneer Supermarket. I went to the Rugby Theater on Utica just north of Church on the east side of the street from the 1950s - I remember seeing West Side Story there with my brother on Saturday morning- till the 1970s when a friend (girl) and I decided to see our first porn movie on a Saturday night because that’s all they showed (plus king fu movies) just before it closed. I could name dozens of stores from the 50s, 60s and 70s from my childhood till my 20s. The last time I was here was to get a flu shot at the Walgreens on the corner of Church and Nostrand a few years ago when I was living on Nostrand and Crown Street. It was nice to see this.
Thank you, I am happy that this video was able to help you relived some of those great memories happy New Year to you and your family.
