Yeah this video definitely isn't for beginners, this is all advanced tips to try and go super fast, not how to get started playing the game normally. Beginners definitely are not gonna T-spin and know how to read multiple previews. I think a better list would've been like: 1. Know how to hold: The amount of videos I see of people playing new games like Tetris Effect and never even realizing they can hold is insane. Clearly it's something beginners don't know about cause all they remember is playing it on the GameBoy or NES in the 80s and never learned any of the newer mechanics. 2. Leaving open wells: Just like the above point, people just jam blocks randomly all over the board instead of leaving a 1-3 wide gap on the left or right to make Tetrises. 3. Learning the Rotation system: I see many people only using one of the rotate buttons which could be the difference between life or death once the game starts to speed up. 4. Stop only doing single line clears: Stop constantly doing back-to-back 1 line clears their entire game instead of going for multi-line clears and Tetrises. 5. Clean up misdrops asap: Don't just keep stacking and ignore the gaps. Like these tips are definitely useful once you do learn the basics but they are far from being "MUST KNOW tips for beginners" when so many people don't even know how to properly play the game in the first place, especially if all they ever played was the classic versions in the 80s and suddenly jump into a modern version.
@@BrandonGiesing I think the video is useful because getting to the point where his remarks are relevant is just a matter of playing a bunch, then his tips will give directions for improving from there and not develop bad habits
You should make a video about some basic patterns and where to put the blocks to get them to line up properly. Most people can't even do that. I think that's where the trouble is. It's like trying to explain chess to someone by telling them to focus 2 steps ahead. If they don't have a basic understanding of the game or a strategy, it isn't going to amount to anything.
Here's an actually useful guide I can give, simple yet fundamental: 1. "Build flat" - building a flat surface allows versatility. 2. "Hold the t-piece" - the t-piece creates an imbalance in your structure. You will notice your structure will start having spikes instead of a flat surface once you place a t-piece. *Note: placing another t-piece will fix the imbalance. Which is why holding a t-piece as long as possible until the next one comes lets you avoid building on an imbalance structure. 3. "Pairs" - instead of looking at each piece individually, look at how they pair with each other, and remember them as a piece, (especially the L/J- pieces paired with S/Z and O-pieces,) *what this does is it helps you assess the preview quicker as you'll be seeing 2 or 3 pairs instead of seeing them 5 individually allowing you to "think faster" as this video perhaps suggest. Side note: if you're interested in t-spin, there are two styles of it. The first one is the mechanical versions, basically you will be repeating the same pattern to make t-spins repeatedly(you dont even need to know fundamentals to perform these). *Note: these are not very useful outside of solo play and marathons but it can help you have a feel of how t-spins work, you can look it up in the web and try it. The second one and is actually the useful one for further improving as a tetris player, is the freestyle t-spin, where you adapt to any given structure to perform a t-spin, however this one requires a lot of grind, and a lengthy guide. If you're interested in seeing it in action you can search in youtube : Amemiya tetris, Kazu tetris, Doremy tetris, Wumbo tetris,
This is probably a good list, but it's not for beginners, it's really for intermediate players I'd say. Beginners like me need tips on how to think with piece placements. Though utilizing the queue in the peripheral is a handy tip which I'll keep in mind, and playing slow until I learn
If the video is for beginners, why would you not at least briefly explain what a T-spin is in the first place and show it being done in SLOW mode? If people want to see the expanded info, they'll still look at your dedicated clip about it.
I actually have no clue how much of the piece preview I use... o.0 I know it’s more than 2 at least because I can perfect clear and C4W, but I’m not sure if it’s all 5

Garbo, I've been told that you used to use an opener called "Oversight" which was similar to a DT Cannon, but missing a mino at the bottom. Is this something you've doing, or have I been misinformed?
I do use a setup that is a dt cannon with one block removed, but it's during the midgame and I'm not aware of any name close to "oversight" being used for it. I know it as "TSD cut STSD" but ive heard it called "3D cannon" and "STSD cannon" before.
