Oh my, I knew your video would be awesome!! And I absolutely love your Autumn vibe🌿❤️ Thanks so, so much for being such a fabulous part of this collab. And for all who are reading this, you're invited too!! Love, love your butterflies.... I'm going to have a go at this🦋🦋🦋 joie ❤️👍
Thanks so much Joie! I had so much fun with collab and it definitely took me out of my comfort zone! 😃❤️
Fantastic Barbara! I loved all of the projects you made!!! So much inspiration. Thank you so much for sharing! Hugs Rach
Thanks so much Rachel! Love your video as well, those tags are adorable! 😃❤️
Barbara, you crack me up with your ability to laugh at yourself. I so identify with that. We all need to lighten up on ourselves and not let our inner critic punish us. We are often better at a new task than we ever dreamed. But even if we’re not, practice is how we learn. So keep laughing and encouraging us to try new techniques. I loved your ephemera. It turned out so nice! Bye bye from Northwest Florida, USA.
Thanks so much for your kind feedback, Marcia! ❤️
Hi Barbara! I am so glad you chose to do ephemera! It opens up a whole different world of ideas. It is absolutely normal to have issues with one corner turn over another. I was a trainer in the shoe factory years ago, and that was always the case for most stitchers. These were fun ideas for sure. Next time you are shopping pick up a rubber spatula for your crafts. Use it to hold and press instead of your fingers with hot glue. The glue won't stick to it and you won't get burned.
Thanks so much Laura! I appreciate your tips! 🥰❤️
Love when you “just play and have fun!”
Oh Barbara, those turned out beautifully! The simple line stitches on the leaves and butterflies added such a wonderful sense of movement...brilliant! But my heart goes to Mr Fox...he is glorious in his autumn plumage. 🥰❤️
Thanks so much! ☺️🥰
These are all gorgeous! I especially like the one you dyed after…just shows, art is subjective!🥰🇨🇦
Fell in love with the fox!😍😍😍what a fun project. Thank you Barbara
That is the quietest sewing machine I've ever heard.😄😁 I like the stitching that gives the butterflies motion.❤🦋🦋
Haha I edited the volume of the Video down for that part 😃
Love what you did with the butterflies and when you mentioned bows, I thought, Yes! Then they would look like kites!LOL
I really enjoyed your fast flow stitching creations!!! Such a fun collaboration!!! Your butterflies and leaves were my favourites I think… but I did love them all!!! It was a joy to hear your excitement when your idea worked!!! I can definitely relate to that feeling. 🥰 Thank you so much for sharing!!! Big hugs, a sharon 🌷💕
Thanks so much Sharon! ❤️☺️
The best thing for burns is Vanilla Extract. The same that you would use for baking. As soon as you burn yourself out, put a generous amount on the burn and it will soothe the burn and you will not have a blister! I keep a small bottle next to my stove that I use just for that.
Wow, I've never heard of that! How cool 😎
Wow, that sounds great, thanks! ❤️
Wonderful, Barbara! You did a great job with the sewing! Super cute ephemera! So sorry about your finger…ouchie! Great video! Hugs to you! ❤️
Thanks so much Gayle! What a fun collab! Loved your video as well! 😃❤️
Lovely Autumn colours, especially loved the Fox and the Owl.
I’m just in awe of your imagination, you are so inspiring. Thank you for sharing your ideas. Much luv xx
Thanks so much Heather! ❤️☺️
I have enjoyed this collab....your ideas are fantastic, Barbara!! I love using my sewing machine for extra details and now I have a few new ideas to add to my journals! Thank you and thanks to all the others who participated!
Thanks so much! So happy this was inspiring! ☺️❤️
LOVE-LOVE-ADORE this! Totally awesome. I really enjoy autumn, so beautiful when the leaves turn yellow and red. This ephemera idea of yours is gorgeous!
/Ditte S.
This big collab is so fun!!!
Hi Barbara:
You always have such great ideas. Your fast flow stitching was perfect. All your pieces fell into place. This is the third video on this collaboration that I’ve watched. So enjoy seeing what everyone does. Do be careful with the glue gun. Tina got a bad burn a while back. Not fun! Looking forward to seeing your fall journal. 💜😎🇺🇸
Thanks so much Joanne! I should not be let near a glue gun! 😂❤️
All great ideas and that fox is precious! Love this collab! TFS the inspiration!
All of these projects were SEW fun xxxx tfs xxxxx
I'm loving the Fall theme. The colors are great.
They all turned out beautiful! (The owl is my favorite) I love fall so the colors were perfect! I really liked how you used the stitching to imply flying and falling-very creative! 🥰
Thanks so much Tonya! ❤️☺️
Barbara, directly beneath the foot, on the deck, there are a couple of strips of jagged teeth that help pull the cloth along as you sew. There should be a switch or knob that lowers those jagged teeth. It may be beneath the deck where the bobbin goes. Once lowered, without those teeth pulling the cloth in one direction, you can more easily move the cloth around as you stitch.
There is a special foot for free-form stitching, too.
I think you did pretty good your way! LOL
I love this! Wonderful idea!
Su
Thanks so much for your feedback! I have checked it and cannot find a way to lower those 😢. Also, I ordered one of those free motion foots, but I think it doesn’t fit. I think my machine is not very compatible 😢
@@49dragonflies It's hard to say about compatibility. I have three machines. All are Singers, though they have different brand names, like Kenmore. They all took the same parts. However, thigs have changed and there are many more companies making them now.
You did awesome! Seriously. I found a video on 'free motion sewing'. But, you didn't seem to have much trouble.
Thank you!
So beautiful as usual❤️. If you drop your feed dogs- a switch on the back of your sewing arm- you can make your swirls and curves without turning the page around, if that makes sense? Then you make the shapes by moving your hands instead...like learning how to drive with your hands. If you look up free flow stitching, you can see it in action.❤️ Bright blessings!
Thanks for your feedback, Shelia! Unfortunately there is no way to drop them…😬
I love all your sewing projects here! Hugs!
Love this the owl envelope is my favorite, got to get those digies
Beautiful! Can’t choose a favourite they are all so lovely. Looking forward to seeing your completed journal. Hugs and blessings, 🤗🇨🇦❤️
What a great video! Love the idea of the stitching to represent the falling leaves and the fluttering butterflies. I need to dig out my sewing machine. No excuse..... I made my own wedding dress..... I’m sure it will come back to me. Thanks for this whimsical Autumn share.
Best advice for sewing circles. If you do once around and it's wonky, do a second one then it looks wonky on purpose.
The fox is so cute, thanks for sharing
Love, love what you have done. The pieces look beautiful.
Good morning 👋😊 49dragonflies 🌹Wow what a beautiful answer to the prompt it's beautiful and you sew just fine with the machine too Thank you for sharing this video and the links to the other videos too stay safe and be careful 🙏✍️🖌️🎨💌🌹👋 enjoy your week ahead ☺️👋🦄
Thanks so much Linda! Have a fabulous day! ❤️
@@49dragonfliesthank you and your very welcome too ☺️🌹👋🦄
I love the look of this as if they are trailing!
Love love love ❤️
So beautiful. I love that you got so excited when you sewed the leave circle. So fun. tfs
Beautiful! Love all 4 ideas. You are awesome using the sewing machine 😉!! Will be watching the rest of your videos to see this journal come together.
Thanks so much! ☺️❤️
This turned out so very cute! Love it!
Lovely lovely lovely 🤩
Absolutely gorgeous I love Mrs fox so pretty. Great ideas yet again. Thanks for sharing your fantastic ideas. I really want to try them see what I can do . Love love your style so much. Everything you make is adorable 💕
Thanks so much Lesley! ❤️
Hi Barbara 😁..super cute, super fun. I love the fall, the pumpkins, the leaves the crisp air. 🍁🍂Must try the coin envelope. You made that look so easy. I think adding stitches really enhances a page. Great job. Muach, muach 😘
Thanks so much Denise! ❤️
Turned out so beautifully, love the collaboration
Thank you so much for showing us how to sew like this. Love the items you created. Can’t wait to see how the rest of the journal turns out.
Thanks, it’s my pleasure! 😃❤️
Ouch! That looks painful! It all turned out so cute 🥰
Awesome fast flow stitching ideas!! LOVE everything...so beauti-fall!! 🧡💛🧡 Looking forward to seeing you create your Autumn journal!! 🍁🦋🍃🦊🍂🦉
Thanks so much Debbie! ❤️
Beautiful pages and cover! Love this! ❤️😘😍
Loved this Barbars, although I am not a sewer, no machine, I thought the projects turned out soooo well, My favourite one has to be the fox, she is so adorable. The butterflies with the loop was a very clever idea. Looking forward to doing your Autumn Journal with you, it looks like it is going to be beautiful, as all your journals are. Keep well and safe, sending Blessings and hugs as usual. Diana
Thanks so much Diana! ❤️
Oh Barbara! I’m so sorry you burned your finger, that looks wicked! I remember you saying you didn’t have a good relationship with glue guns, this is definitely not going to help with that. Your four ephemera with curvy stitching are all really nice, another success for you! I was giggling with you when you did the circle! I think your junk journal for the fall is going to be gorgeous! I hope your finger heals quickly, burns are just the worst.
Thanks so much Erica! Thankfully my finger is all well again! I will avoid my glue gun if possible 😂
This is a wonderful project. Nice 😊 job Barbara. Hugs 🤗 DarvaDee
great Ideas, beautiful fall colors.I love the threads coming off the butterflies and leaves. tyfs.
Oh , so sorry you burned your finger. Hope it heals well. I really enjoyed your approach to this and you are courageous to try new things and your ideas are so cute. You teach well, and I liked the coin pocket. Will watch again and try one.
Aaaaw thanks so much Karen! Have fun with these! 😃❤️
Dear Barbara! I really don't understand why you were so scared & insecure
(Pre-sewing your beautiful papers)... 🤔?! In my opinion, your SEWING SKILLS (at least, your paper skills 😁) are immaculate!
You probably know by now that I love your process videos, in which you create each & every layout. Therefore, I can't wait to see the whole journal full & ready to our "traditional" flip-through (and what other surprises it will hold inside... 📚)!
Have a fabulous week, sweetie 🧁 XOXO
Aaaw thanks so much Liat! ❤️
Another tip I have is to always lower your needle into the fabric before/when you take your first stitch. It gives you a more precise starting point. You can also pull your needle/top thread through to the back side and knot your top and bottom threads off (instead of back stitching) if you want a cleaner look...... Thank you for sharing your craftsmanship with us.
Thanks for your tips! 😃👍🏻❤️
@@49dragonfliesyou are so welcome. We all have to learn. We can all help each other. You help all of us. Sharing is caring. Right? 😊
Thanks Barbara. Hope your finger heals soon. It reminded me of ET when you had it pointing up and it was glowing red at the end - ouch!! 🤕🩹
Hahah ET 😂. Thanks, my finger is all better! ☺️❤️
Awesome videos. I look forward to your next video.😍🌴💕
Was so excited to see what you would do with this challenge .. so unique and i just love your style! Beautiful and inspiring ❤
Thanks so much! ❤️
Love all these projects - turned out great!
Time to get my old sewing machine out x love it so effective xxxx
Smaller stitches when making a circle gives you more maneuver around. Try that :)
Thanks! 😃
These are adorable! I did something similar with a bee journal to show the path of the bees. Very fun!
They are all super cute
Wow!😍🤩
If you have other feet for your machine, an embroidery foot (it is round ) and dropping your feed dogs, will allow you to move your paper in any direction. This makes sewing free form swirls easy because you don’t have to move your paper upside down, you just keep it right side up and “draw” by moving the paper around. I am a quilter and this is how we do it on fabric. Any questions?
Good idea
I’m new to sewing. How do you drop the feed dogs (and then raise them back again)? Thanks.
Thanks! I don’t think I have a foot like that, but I will look into getting one. I saw Tracie Fox use one in her collab video, it’s awesome! ❤️
@@heidimacdonald205 with my machine there is a button in the bobbin case..
My Elna sewing machine has a button on the back side to drop the feed dogs .
OMD this is an amazing idea! I LOVE them all x
Thanks so much Tracie! ❤️
Your videos are always such a pleasure to watch & listen to … I can tell you that my Austrian language would not be as understandable as your beautiful English. I love your junk journal ideas. Such a pleasure!!! Thank you very much for sharing!!! ♥️♥️♥️💐💐💐. Please be careful with your hot glue gun!!! Ouch!!!! By the way, I am watching from Fairhope, Alabama USA.
Thanks so much Alice! ❤️
Thank you for sharing. Love all the ephemera you made for the journal. I am sure this gives all of us some idea how to go about it. Love your channel. Tomorrow I am going to Walmart to buy a cheap small sewing machine. I got rid of my good sewing machine last summer. Put it in my daughter yard sale. This small sewing machine is only for crafting. Hope it does the trick.
Thanks so much and good luck with your new sewing machine! 😃❤️
Cool projects! Sewing in a circle is the hardest to do! Glue guns, ugh! I’m always burning myself.
So sweet!....😻
Great ideas! I'm loving this challenge. I have only seen you and Gayle so far but will be checking out the other ladies soon. Thanks for sharing.
Great ideas Barbara!! Loved the leaves!
Eine sehr schöne Inspiration, tolles Video. LG Carmen
You say you aren’t an experienced sewist, but you do a great job with your machine! If you find that your machine can lower the feed dogs or has a cover, check out some free motion quilting videos on YT for ideas and instruction. I love that you used the fast flow stitching to represent movement.
Do you have the silicone finger tip covers that you can use with your heat gun…I mean glue gun, lol! They make a big difference. Also I keep a bowl of ice water nearby when I am using mine and immediately plunge my finger in it if I get glue on it. It helps to cool the glue quickly and so the burn is not as bad.
I love all these ideas! Happy fall!🦊🍁
BTW, the feed dog control is usually under the machine or at the back near the throat plate. Also, if you use your glue stick to hold items together and let it dry before you sew, you can sew over the glue without gunking up your needle.
Thanks so much Dawn! I really appreciate your kind words and useful feedback! I will check if I can lower the feed dogs (what a weird name 😂). I also ordered a free motion foot today and can’t wait to try it out! ❤️😃
Liebe Barbara, du hast wieder einmal wunderschön gearbeitet. Ich verstehe zwar kein englisch, aber ich komme bei all deinen Videos gut mit.
Hut ab, dass du das Video durchgezogen hast, trotz brandblase am Finger. Ich weiß, wie weh das tut. Lg Kerstin
Vielen Dank liebe Kerstin! ❤️
I am going to try this, and check out the other collabs as well! Just a quick thought though: if you are sewing through paper/card much, use a needle that you DON'T use on fabric, because it will blunt it and cause problems when trying to sew - can cause rucking, or pushing the fabric down into the dogs and the like.
Thanks Dawn and I appreciated your tips! 🥰❤️
Gorgeous project sweetie! I love wonky stitching 👍😊 going around the curve I alwaysturn by hand too 😁 this gives me a lot of ideas 💡 😍 big hug
Thanks sweetie! Maybe you show me what you come up with! 😃🥰❤️
The large stiches work best because if you use very small stitches you might just get a perforation and it will tear. This can also.happen with back stitching. so on paper I don't backstitch. Besides it is mostly necessary on fabric. Beautiful pages. Nice ideas.
Thanks for your feedback, Nancy! ❤️
Again absolutely gorgeous 🥰🥰🥰. I just love the digitals, I’m going to get them, look at them and hoard them 😂😂😂. Your finger looks really sore, I had been thinking about trying a glue gun but I think I’ll wait 👍. Hope it’s not to sore ❤️❤️
Thanks so much for your kind words, Lesley! My finger is 100% better, so no worries! But yes, those glue guns are dangerous! 😬❤️
These are so cute. I love these ideas!
Love your creativity. These are wonderful
Vielen Dank liebe Susanne! Der Finger ist wieder 100% ok! 😊❤️
Loved each project, they turned out beautifully. Looking forward to your Fall journal. 💚💚💚
Thanks Renee! ❤️
Love all the fall colors. Good job on the falling leaves and the circle! The Fox is going to look fabulous on the cover. Can’t wait to see what you do with him. So excited to watch all the videos in this collaboration! TFS! ❤️
Oooh I have some of those leaves, going to dig them out. 👍🌿
Awesome! 😃
Love this. My trick with circle pieces is to use a shorter stitch. I know long ones are easier but not on tighter curves
I love Fall, so I love these ideas! 🍁I'll use them...going into my idea book! TFS🤗
Very nice thank you
I so enjoyed this video....great inspiration!!!!
Love how everything turned out!! Especially the loop! 💜
Thank you.
That was fun Barbara!
Fabulously awesome fast flow stitch ephemera!! Definitely will do this😁 Hope your finger is healing. I like what you said about muting the background so the focal point (owl) will stand out💕🐬
Thanks so much JoAnn! ❤️🥰
This is just great! I feel so bad for your burned finger - I know it hurts. God bless..
Thanks Dana! My finger is all better, thanks! 😃
These are so lovely! I have a tip for you if you burn yourself like that again. It works for me every time. First get to your kitchen sink quickly and run cold water over the burn as long as you can to sort of numb it. Then quickly plunge your finger into baking flour. Yep, flour. Make sure the burn is coated really well with the flour. It immediately takes the sting out and actually works for hours for the most part. If the burn is in an area you can't plunge into flour, just sprinkle the flour heavily over it. I swear by it.
Thanks so much for this advice! ❤️👍🏻
We actually learned in first aid courses never go add flower or other stuff onto burn wounds. It gums the wound up and can also insert bacteria. Just cold water and cooling. Anything more severe should be treated by a doctor anyways.
@@49dragonflies Please never add flower to a burn wound.
Wow, I had no idea! I've been putting it on burns for years without any issues....but there's always a first! Thanks for the advise!
Always so inspirational..lov it!!!
Beautiful Barbara! I love your choice of images as well as your process here. I recently bought a free motion attachment for my sewing machine and I need to try it out. I think that makes things much easier. Thanks for the beautiful video!
Thanks! I orders one as well! Can’t wait to try mine either! 😃❤️
You did a great job I love how everything turned out💕
Such fantastic ideas!
Very good. Love them all. Some fellow quilters have left you some helpful tips. As a quilter I learned some of these when my mom taught me to sew. Keep doing what you are learning.
Didn't something this much magnificent! This video was such a fun! You are amazing at trying new things😊 loved watching every second of this!
Btw l hope your finger is ok now! Its not easy to work with that!
Thanks Shimah! My finger is ok again thankfully! ❤️
