    This video reminded me of the first time i came across this simple receiver scrolling through RUclips. It was really a miracle building it for the first time without using complicating components. After that lots of videos with experiments from a lot of amateur radio operators, all trying to maximize the performance of this little receiver. For me, this receiver got me into the hobby, i hope the same project could get more people interested as it is simple and educational. What can is say? I still love it and i highly recommend it as a great project. Keep up the excellent work!! 73 and i hope we will meet on the air sometime!! 73

      Thank you so much Nikos. Yes... same receiver got me back into the hobby as well. If I didn't started working on this, for sure I would most probably still not have my amateur radio license today. I also still use it a lot... especially when I am working on my laptop, is always on in the background. Love it still. Have an amazing and productive week my friend. Yes we have to try a QSO one of these days. 20m band seems good for the distance between us. 73, YO6DXE. P.S. I still watch your videos from time to time on the receiver ))

      I have to go back listening to the receiver. Right now i am working on antennas. For example the Vertical on my latest video worked great on 20m but i had to use the tuner. I will be back next week and we sould definitely try a qso at least an FT8 one if the propagation is not that great.

      @@dxexplorer if you want it to work better as you said it's possible to change capacitors , also it's not necessary but it's good to wound coil on high frequency ceramic.
      I have seen that people used silver plated wires for coils, I believe it's better but not necessary.
      Anyway it's good choice to make coil one you have used

      @inventor2540 yes... if you want make it really stable in frequency... you can go a little bit on extremes and do that type of coul... for sure much better... also use temperature compensation capacitors, same as you would use for a VFO... and is stable like a crystal controlled receiver )). Hice otra modificacion, en filamento abs hice un toroide 18mm exterior y 8mm interior con hueco y le agregue papel aluminio, se aumento la señal, pero hasta el momento estoy experimentando señales pitidos fijos , no tengo las herramienta para saber el uH ( se me daño el lcd del RLC T4/T3) por lo q me toca a mano. Aun así sería bueno saber de este tipo de toroide relleno de aluminio. Saludos.

    • @dxexplorer
      @dxexplorer  8 месяцев назад +1

      @jcbacol Para el toroide sólo probé el material T50-2 y T50-6. Por supuesto también el tubo de PVC... hasta ahora con el tubo de PVC parece que obtengo mejores resultados tanto en el factor Q de la bobina como también en la estabilidad en la frecuencia cuando hay cambios importantes de temperatura. Pero es bueno que experimentes con eso porque la mayoría de las veces pueden surgir resultados inusuales y sorprendentes. También quería probar un toroide hecho de PVC... en teoría necesitaría más vueltas para alcanzar la inductancia necesaria, pero el factor Q de la bobina y la estabilidad en frecuencia también deberían mejorar. Nunca tuve tiempo de probar eso todavía.

PCB board or completely with parts installed. You will only have to build the coil on your own. We talk about it on your other comment ))). I will present some other receivers more simple than this one too. Not sure if they will also work well on SSB and CW. But you can modify this one to also receive shortwave as well not just the 40m band.

    I just made this Sputnik, but I cannot check the frequency using the counter. Is it needed a preamp between L3 and the counter? 😁
    Secondly, I think I have to replace 1N4001 with BB405, as it now the tuning does not work properly. 😅

    • @dxexplorer
      @dxexplorer  3 месяца назад +1

      If you are using the same frequency counter kit that I used... here is a video with instructions on how to modify it in order to work: ruclips.net/video/0BxpMm6SLoE/видео.htmlsi=WHWpPuE-RLm7evfF
      On the diode... ohh yes feel free to experiment as much as you want. But if tuning doesn't work with a 1N4001.. chances are there is another problem there. It should work, just that the frequency range you cover may not be as wide. Try checking the potentiometers, especially the RF gain and regen control. Those were the issues I had using new and cheap but really bad quality potentiometers. As soon as I replaced them all worked fine )).

      Is just a 10 Kilo Ohm multiturn potentiometer. They are not that expencive. Usually two or three times the price of a regular potentiometer ( the cheaper versions ). If you don't have a frequency counter, just listen to the online SDR in Holland and adjust the receiver until you hear nearly the same thing on the 40m band. That is how I used to do it before when I had no frequency counter. It takes a little time, but it works. Also make sure the antenna has at least 6-8 meters minimum as is meant to work with a proper antenna and shorter wires may work if the propagation is great, but you won't receive much in the days with poor propagation. Dar am invatat multe. Pentru partea audio... da da e un LM386... dar cu iesire mai mult pentru casti, cum e la Pixie TRX. Motivul a fost ca are consum mai mic a bateriei asa... si e mult mai simplu circuitul. Celalalt receptor pe care-l aratam in clip... are o varianta mai veche a schemei dar devenise complicat. Acela avea un preamp inainte de LM386 asa ca auditia in difuzor era ok. Asa cum e acum... na... se aude si in difuzor... dar slabut. Daca e liniste in camera e ok. Castile sunt ideale totusi.

      @@عبدهسا Ohhh I don't know I'm sorry. I know you can do circuit simulations in Elsie... but I am not that good yet )). Is just a hobby not a profession so probably I know as much as you do as well.

    Did you design this yourself.

      The PCB board you mean ? Or the schematic ? I put it together... I can't really say I designed it since parts of the circuit, in theory appeared long before I was born ))) I just tested a lot of combinations and variations of the schematic making more and more changes to it until I was happy and it was as simple as possible. It can work even better if modified even more 😁😁. But I stop here as I spent too much time with this receiver )))

      Pixie is a CW transceiver locked on 7023 Khz; This (the Sputnik) is a regen receiver that covers 7000-7200 Khz

      I am also working on a Pixie with an analog VFO )) This way we can cover the entire CW portion of the 40m band. But still work in progress... not much free time for now. 73, YO6DXE.

      😅😅 Thank you Nigel. I keep trying to catch up with our "radio show" but I was always free when you are a sleep... time difference. But tomorrow I think I have the time for a reply ))). By the way... open a beer and celebrate... this was the last video on the Sputnik 😅😅😅.
