I have a 2003 Smallman and love it. I also have a 2015 Dominique Field as well as a 1988 Fleta. The Smallman is street ahead of anything out there, just brilliant, thanks for the demos.
Very informative. Thanks for posting. When I think of Lattice braced guitars, Smallman and those who are influenced by him are not the only ones who come to mind. There are many makers who build excellent lattice braced instruments with traditional lightweight solid rosewood back and sides, no heavy framework around the top and no carbon fibre. In the late 1980s I sold lattice guitars from Eric Sahlin of Spokane WA, USA. I sold one to Earl Klugh, one to Chet Atkins and was instrumental in the sale of the first one to members of the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet. Soon after I played some fine lattice guitars by Richard Prenkert of California. Currently I have a shipment of normal weight, solid back and sides guitars from Esteve in Spain, which are moderately priced, sound great in spruce cedar, 650mm, 640mm or even 630mm. Typically many of these instruments have a 5x5 lattice of spruce braces but do offer the lattice sound in a more traditional instrument with no laminations. thanks, jerry Roberts
Very enjoyable video. However, I just can't get past the basic hollow sound of them, even if some sound less hollow than the others. If I was a pro player then perhaps other qualities would win me over.
Great demo, although Philippe can make a shoe box wrapped with rubber bands sound beautiful; exceptional tone! I suspect that if I was to try them, I would hear and feel the difference in the Smallman, as I always have, having owned two.

It’s no trouble, and I can understand what you mean, and this is why you can find lattice but also double tops and traditional guitars so everyone can find the best guitar for his taste. They all have their qualities but also their drawbacks. Thank you for sharing your feelings. 😊
Smallman sounds horrible. I can't believe someone can enjoy how it sounds, it's an aberration. All of those guitars sounds really bad. A lot of volume and sustain but at what cost?

You’re right, but I did with what was in store… I wish we had a Redgate too because it’s a wonderful guitar too.
