Have always wanted to pick one of these imports up but worried about getting them serviced when mechanical issues come up. Would you have any thoughts or advice on this situation? Thanks for the cool video.
The trick with a stock hiace is to completly overhaul the cooling system. Replace thermostat housing, flush the radiator, replace all coolant hoses and ensure that everything is clean and flows well. You'd also want to install an aftermarket coolant temp sensor as the hiace gauge on the dash is very unreliable and can lead you to overheat the engine without even knowing it. Owning a jdm is all about preventative maintenece. Join a forum and do plenty of research before purchasing any jdm vehicle
Hey Spence.Great build out. I have the 2001 version of the same van and am thinking to build it out. Lots of good ideas to steal from you. Thanks. By the way, where did you pick it up? I live in Japan and go home to PEI every summer and wanna get another one in Canada. How hard is that to do?
Hey dave! To get in touch with spence directly you might wanna check out his instagram and shoot him a message over there (IG is linked in the video description). He loves to talk shop about these trucks and were sure that would apply to answering some q's you might have!

Awesome Spence! Looks great! We have almost that same material as you have for window coverings on our seat cushions 😂
Amazing! Thanks for your comment
Like the bed support and essential coffee drawer.
Always gotta have a coffee drawer 😎
That's a slick bed system!
Isn’t it? 👏
Really nice job on your van. I use some of the same techniques for weight savings. Kind of from the boating industry.
