Been driving a 2024 S8 for four months. Consensus viewpoint from other tests is the Audi matches the S class and the 7 series in luxury, (ride included) but S8 is more sporty. That is the reality...best of both worlds.
Honestly, if it was just between the big 3 German entries in this segment, the A/S8 would be my personal choice purely by default. The 7 Series exterior and the S Class interior are both deal breakers for me, and I’m more personally drawn to the more restrained/conservative Audi aesthetics. Now…if we open things up to the rest of this segment, that’s a different discussion. In that case, I’d probably go for a Genesis G90 if I wanted the ultimate in comfort or, honestly, a low-to-mid tier Panamera for something with some athletic moves
You need the more fully loaded. Predictive suspension. It’s geared towards older more mature people. Perhaps with a family. The ability to do it all. It’s understated and subtle and that’s what it’s about. Not flashy and not doing too much.
I have this car…. Its smooth and fast! Best combo. No other car has that. Did that car have the “Predictice active suspension”? Thats what makes it butter. It’s actually smoother than the 7 series
Bro i worked at a Maserati car dealership for 4 months. If you think that was intimidating, you had nothing on the cars I had to drive into shops every single day.
@@RetroKingOG I get that, I should clarify, I had only been loading/unloading hondas and mazdas until that point. And I had to drive the Audis onto/off of a 9 car semi truck in the middle of downtown LA. it was intimidating moving multiple 150k Audis and a 300k semi on my second week lmfao. But I understand there are much more expensive cars.
After your sound system test, my pick would be an A6 or S6 instead of the A8/S8. I really like the A4 I have, but may upgrade relatively soon depending on depreciation levels.
Audi is just like Volvo they have aged extremely well the design inside and out does need to change Audi does screw up like BMW or Benz did. If B&O isn't so great here in the A8 just imaging it in the refreshed MDX, Acura should have keep the ELS signature or ELS Studio in all the 2025 MDX
People buying Audi are not looking for that Smooth ride you are describing. Audi S cars are about dinamics just like a GT car not luxurios ride, RS line is the Sport one and the regular are the luxury Maybe that is what you misunderstood about that car.
You do get the point. I just watched the last part of your video. I'm a driving enthusiast and executive, who wanted a big black German sedan that was faster than it should be.
S8 without predictive active suspension which is what we have in europe as default. That suspesion is what makes S8 best car for bad roads, spirited driving etc combined. S6 in europe is definately at least 3 levels behind s8. i have tried bmw 760e (which is good), i have tried S63 amg which is better in acceleration, worse in road noise and worse in braking and also worse in turning.
Agree with a number of people that commented -- this a really bad review and the reviewer discussed none of the features, nor does he compare the S8's features to its competition. He likes to say 4+ times that the ride is not soft enough for a luxury vehicle. He should be testing the A8L model for a softer ride that he mentions over and over. He also failed to discuss that the optional Audi predictive suspension feature was missing on this specific test vehicle and that when that is included it makes the ride considerably softer and more compliant over bumps etc. Again he knows very little about this vehicle and lacked any meaningful details or specs comparison.
Its the worst Audi s8 test I have never seen. It seems to me a superficial and anodyne approval I drive a 2023 S8 and i can´t understand you point of view driving ythis car for a week
Your arm and hand positioning is not exemplary. The steering wheel seems to far. You're looking for a 90 degree bend in the elbows when hands are at 9 and 3 positions.
Generally people who pay this price point for their brand new luxury rides, want a vehicle that can comfortably cruise them from place to place. They don’t go for an overpowered ride that can’t be used anywhere on the road, in any normal situation! Only the stupid waste their money on things that can’t be enjoyed.
The D5 Audi S8 is a bit more executive that previous generations, not as aggressive, but still sporty. It is a driver's car, that doesn't overwhelm with technology like the new S Class (which I think is geared towards being chauffeured rather that drive), and to fly by under the radar. I've had all generations of S8, this is the most comfortable. And please don't compare it to non German cars, it's a disgrace.
Charlie, I hope green cars are making a comeback at a variety of price points.
You could go to a paint shop and have them paint a car green.

What do you dislike about the S Class interior?

Dream car...love the color and interior...

When I was training for my current job hauling cars, one of my first cars I got to load on the truck was a brand new S8. Talk about intimidating!

To be fair it is nearing the end of its life cycle.

A6 is definitely the way to go I have a 2022 nicely optioned smooth driving
I have a 2017 Audi a6 50tfsi, it is a great car, but it cannot compare to a 2024 audi s8 in every way, and of course the price

Acura had to cut back costs.
@@ryanb8736 not surprising then the 2025 MDX gonna cost more
Are you in Canada or Europe? We don’t get the chrome in the US, at least we didn’t in 2023. I have a 2023 A8 and it is quite smooth..

I love the S8. It seems you miss the point of the car. Well done video, though.

There seem to be a small handful of CA YTers that do car reviews that are of the LDS faith… MPH and now evidently, Charlie
Just watched this review i liked it! however where are the rear seat CUP HOLDERS!!!
They are located in the end of the armrest. When it's down it extends towards the front armrest once pushed to get it to pop out

At the 10:18 mark, was that a LeBron James reference? 😏

Do you like ANY cars you review!? You are the first reviewer that doesnt think this car rides smooth😂. I will defnitely not come back to this channel
I do, I promise! Drive an S8 back to back with a 760 and an S580 and tell me the S8 rides as smoothly.

I keep the wheel further forward for filming so people can see more of the wheel in the camera lens.

Autobahn?,
weird for a German car😂
