  • This week at Temple Street Children’s Hospital, 23-week-old Teva is on the top ward awaiting hip surgery and 12-year-old Kelsey to have her skin tags removed and Harry is arriving as the rapid assessment and treatment unit after hurting his wrist.
Temple Street follows the highs and lows of the hospitals daily routine and shares in the journey of some inspiring, insightful and unique cases. We meet the staff members who devote their lives to the children in their care, we see the struggle and joy of families who give up everything to see their child get better and we share in the happy and inspirational times, as we are confronted with the hope and courage of some very brave young patients.

Ah the disappointment of hurting your wrist and having to miss out on the fun things but not being able to say "oh I can't write guess I can't do homework".

I actually was able to say that... my teachers just made me write with my left hand. Broke my arm and wrist in several places after falling on the monkeybars... Darn those stubborn teachers!

I had the same things happen with me. I don't remember any of it of course, but there are pictures. We never did surgery for mine. I'm 35 now, and am facing that surgery some point in my somewhat near future. I do have some arthritis that started at about 25. It's sad she's getting surgery, but i can vouch for the condition becoming more and more difficult. My left hip will sometimes slip out of place, this is a very rare occurrence that has only begun to happen more often recently, and usually happens when i'm going to stand up and it is excruciating. I've learned to just deal with it because my health insurance until recently wasn't good... but eventually you come down to enough being enough. I'm not fond of when I explain about being born with hip dysplasia to being compared to a some of tha large dog breeds.

I am with you, have hip dysplasia myself and I am 41. I hate trying to explain to ppl what it is. For me I have always had trouble with my hips but nobody knew why because back then there wasn't any screening for it. I found out I had this when I was 16. I went to a chiropractor and he did x-ray of my lower back and told my Dad and I that's what it was, so the long journey of going to Dr after Dr to try and get something done to ease my pain started. I always loved walking around town when I was in my teens and that was extremely painful. I went in to get reconstructive surgery on my left hip when I was 18, the Dr cut my pelvic in half, cut 3/4in off my leg put a rod in my thigh, etc. I was in a full body cast 6weeks. It was a surgery they usually do on 2-3yo kids but I was desperate so I went along with it, unfortunately it didn't help. Both of my hips have to be replaced eventually. I have been waiting so I can get it done close to home where my family is. I walk with a walker & a cane.
It's very painful, I always caution everyone to get their kids screened because you don't want what I have been going through for your kids!!

Luckily I don’t think that kid is quite old enough for that injured right arm to really affect his teenage boy life. ;) lmao

The tags are on top of her ears that's why you can't stand I think those tags don't even need surgery because normally I had one and I renewed it by using a thread and I ripped it off

Don't even look like she got no tags in her ears they look normal to me she has a pierced ear and everything it don't look like there's nothing wrong with her ears

In front of her ear. I can see them plainly. The Doctor says there is nothing wrong with her ears. She is getting it for esthetic reasons. (Because she is embarrassed by them.)
What a spoiled child. My parents made us pay for those things with our own money!
