@ Use red light a lot as well. All depends on my situation. Right now I serve as a police SRT tactical medic/operator. So I use the blue filter in those types of situations. Just because my eyes work better with it. For other mission sets, I use red more often.
I picked up a pack of 4 coast headlamps white high and low a red and red strobe for less than 25 bucks two years ago. They have the yellow looking newer style led and are really bright compared to other budget headlamps. 2 AAA and water resistant. So far my favorite on a budget3
Brother, wish I could show you my headlamp I've had since the late 90's. Looks like an old miners lamp, still works like a champ for what I need. Does have 3 settings for brightness. 🖖
I have an old miners headlanp running on carbit and one with a leadaccid battery ( Yes my grandpa was a miner/ blastmaster) The Dutch State mines, make now Dynema, fertilizer, plastics)
The sidewinder looks pretty good, i have 2 from Fenix the HLR60R and a smaller HM50R the 60 lasts longer using an 18650 battery but i use the smaller one the most , good video content.
The fenix hp30r is a great headlamp for cold weather. The battery pack can be stowed inside your coat so the cold temps don't drain it. Also can be used to charge devices
Brightness and battery longevity. My current goto headlamp is Browning has a gazillion lumens, strobe, multicolored. But I'm intrigued with your 3K lumen headlamp!
Sidewinder seems good for anyone working in the field/ on the ground in covert ops. It is down to the fact that you have a rechargable battery, but if it dies you only need a hand full of AA batteries to do you for days. The AAA headlamp seems okay for a budget option but if I was to buy one for the ground I would go Sidewinder. The thrunite would be good if you had even some red filter paper and fashioned a small fitting to slot over the lens
I've had Petzl, and a couple others. My current headlamp is a Black Diamond Storm 400. Red, green, blue, and two types of white light. No steps in light output adjustment, infinite low to high adjustment. Rated for immersion up to 1m for 30 minutes. Four AAA batteries, and they last a long time. No IR, but that's not a deal breaker for me because I don't have NODS.
When I used to go caving brightness was key but in the wood or a house I almost always turn it down to a lower level. I've had petzl , coast, princton tec side winders you name it. They all have pluses and minuses. Sidewinder is hard to beat.
I have the sidewinder that i purchased about 10 yrs ago mainly on to the quality of the construction, it still functions great. Now if i can only figure out the purpose of the i.r. option, that would be great!👍
I want a dependable light that takes a common battery, no circuit board, not so bright, halogen bulb, EMP proof hand held and head light. Any suggestions?
I thought I had seen a Thru-night that was hands free a while back. Have to visit a site . Multiple battery options is a good thing if you’re scavenging. Never seen a blue lens used . Have a great evening
I have an LedLenser which is crazy bright but can be adjusted down to a low(10l) to a hold for 1000L but attached to my maps(EDC/IFAK are these two color browning(Red/White) hat bill clip lights. Good for the first aid and red for map reading.
@@STOKERMATIC Looked like a charging port, usb cable plug on side of light. My bad if I misunderstood its purpose. Thanks for the vid, Stay Stoked! Ps need that on a T-shirt.
Thanks for te review,I like the Sidewinder for night tracking as its not too bright to wash out the details of a track, also the blue is great for tracking in the snow. Lately Iave been using the Black Diamond ReVOLT 350 lumens Duel-Fuel is USB rechargeable and also will operate on 3 AAA batteries, its dimmable ,has a red LED,strobe and is IPX4 Storm Proof as always Stay Stoked thanks for your channel
They need to design one where it doesn't overload the eye's with light. The beam comes from the forhead area. It's pathway get's in the eye's no matter what angle you point it. Maybe they need to improve the design. Perhaps extending several inches forward from the body will keep the light's path clear of the eye's.

Great reviews Top! I’m a fan of the Petzl line, something like the Princeton lamp. I think a multi-functional lamp is more important than super high lumens, unless that’s what’s needed for a specific mission. Decent lumens and a red light are the two must have characteristics I think, especially when in a non-permissive environment. I’ll have to check out the sidewinder, I didn’t realize that they can take multiple types of batteries. I ditched a lot of my old CR123 only products as they became too costly and went to AAA stuff that can cross-load into other electronics. Keep up the Fire! Oh, and Happy Birthday!!!
I use headlamps daily in my job. I've spent money on the high-end ones, and everything in between. Now I buy the Energizer models from Home Depot. I have six. None of them have ever let me down.
Awesome man! I must have red light
As a medic, blue is great for casualty assessment at night. Because if there is blood present. It becomes readily apparent.
also with red light it's almost impossible to see it from my experience

I like the Sidewinder. Streamlight makes some good stuff.
Can’t beat a good headlamp. 👍
Thanks for the answer back I was surprised to see that I never have gotten any feedback before from a youtuber. Great channel keep up the great work.

Great topic! I've got a variety for hunting etc. Mainly using a Tru Nite H01 and a 5.11 model. Have used Petzl in the past. Great video 👍🏻

Blu light is for?
Blood ...
Another option. Can see red with it
dude you are awesome
I still have my streamlight sidewinder. For me red light is needed. The good thing about the light is the 3 type of batteries it can take
It’s golden!
I believe that Thrunite is rechargeable. Ps, Happy Birthday Top!
You could get a rechargeable battery I suppose. This particular one doesn’t have a built in battery though. Still pretty awesome!
& THANKS!!

Could you expand on this? Which Energiser headlamps do you use? Why do you prefer them over the high end ones?
