Thank you for an amazing reaction to a show I love. It always serves to enhance my enjoyment when you react to stuff I love. You often mention how good the music is in this and I agree. It's a great emulation of John Williams original themes. On a weird side note, some years ago I was wacthing a re-run of a 60's series called Land of the Giants. When I heard the end theme tune, I tried to imagine what it would sound like in John Williams had composed it. I subsequently looked up what scores he'd composed only to find that he HAD done the theme tune to it! It was one of his first forays into TV. I don't know what made me think it, but that was a bizarre twist! See you next time!
This final two-parter honestly felt like an overall series finale, the first time I saw it. The last ten minutes are so epic and emotional, especially with the music and that end montage.
I know! I watched the show when it first aired on Disney XD! My mom actually made me some popcorn while I watched the finale. I actually remember that both of the parts were combined into one episode.
I agree the music in Rebels really adds to the show (as it does in season 3 and 4), and Kanan was really impressive after being blinded in the last episode. I think the reason everything feels so positive for you from the people watching your Rebels reactions is that a lot of people LOVE Rebel’s and they sense that in you too: it shines through in your reactions. You really get the show, the characters, their relationships and development. And you have a great on screen personality. I always really look forward to your reactions for these reasons 🙂
One of the greatest moments in the entire franchise. Those few seconds of Anakin and Ahsoka get me every single time. Same with the similar scene in Obi Wan. Chills every single time.
I already imagine tears and shock. It was no dought in my mind and her reaction ti vader and ashoka face to face will no dought make her cry. I even got slightly emotional when seeing it. I always imagines them like a big brother and little sister relationship since he helped her and they are both quite young. During the clone wars. Now adults who went separate ways.
Much like season 1, this shows an escalation. It starts with the execution of the Academy Commandant. Here the 3rd Inquisitor this season and the introduction of "old Master". The thing that's ambiguous till this episode is whether Ahsoka knew. In Siege Of Lothal it seems his....rage overwhelmed her. She spent much of this season trying to get information. When they went to the Lothal Temple, Master Yoda(using Dagobah's Force Energy) to give Ahsoka and Kanan visions(this is why we know the Grand Inquisitor was a temple Guard, how Kanan was Knighted, and Ahsoka learning the truth). But she wasn't sure......not till he spoke her name. It took YEARS for us to learn her fate. This episode sets the bar for the remaining 2 seasons. And it is MASTERFUL
At risk of spoilers, but 'to defeat one's enemy, you must know them; not just their battle tactics, but their history, philosophy, art'; Twilight of the Apprentice gave us such an emotional confrontation between Ahsoka and Vader and I still shed tears when they face each other.
This two part finale was broadcasted aired at 7 pm at night on Disney XD. Dave Filoni wanted Ahsoka and Vader to meet again after the cancel of Clone Wars back in 2012. Their a special feature of Dave Filoni talking about this fight on RUclips if u have time to watch it.
It's one thing to react to a show people love, it's another to be so invested in it that you're noticing the tiny details and connections that made those people love it in the first place. A popular title may get people turning up for the first episode, but to get them to come back for the rest of the series was your doing. Also "We'll see each other again" were a poor choice of words to leave Hera with, Kanan!
To me, this episode shows how Anakin/Vader, even when he's in the dark side, still wants his loved ones to be by his side. He offered everyone one of them a place with him, Padme ("we can rule the galaxy together"), Obi-Wan ("if you're not with me, then you're my enemy"), Ahsoka ("We need not be adversaries. The Emperor will show you mercy") and Luke ("Join me, and together, we can rule the galaxy as father and son! Come with me.")
All of us were squinting at the screen as well so you were not alone with the Maul reveal. Knowing what we know now (without any future Rebels discussion) I remember that feeling with this battle between Vader and Ahsoka was probably one of the more meaningful saber battles in history of Star Wars at that point. I think Obiwan's in the series were very similar. Including the fact that they cracked Anakin's mask (on opposite sides). Something that really hit me in the previous episodes was Kanan saying he would see Hera soon. That hit me hard knowing he was about to lose his sight.
I personally really have enjoyed revisiting all this with you Jess, your reactions and your love of so many of the same characters feel like you are watching with someone who really cares for them. How can you not feel an affinity with some one who is so thoughtful and appreciative of the series. I hope you continue to get better and better health wise.
In response to your final comments - I ABSOLUTELY look forward to your reactions to Rebel an many other shows. Not just because they are shows I love and enjoy, but I really appreciate your connection with the characters and you do the deep dives to really plumb the depths of the subtle stuff going on beyond the action and the excitement. For example, you're a reactor I KNEW would be emotionally impacted by the full weight of the fight between Ahsoka and Vader... and I knew you'd be one of the reactors to feel the emotion of Rex's silent reaction when he believed (like the others) that Ahsoka was lost. It is your connection and your heart-felt emotions of ALL that's going on in an episode that keeps bringing me back to see your next reaction. I am really glad that things have gone well with the surgery and I wanted to tell you that from the bottom of my heart, I believe you are made of all kinds of awesome and your reactions make my day all the brighter. So THANK YOU for sharing them with us.
My favorite part is when Ahsoka says "I won't leave you, not this time" and Anakin/Vader stands there for three heartbeats in total silence as if her words have stunned him. Then you see Vader emerge again as we knew he would.
It reminds me of the end of Anakin and Obi-wan's duel on Mustafar. After Anakin screams "I hate you" Obi-wan replies that he loved Anakin and you see Anakin is stunned for a second and the yellow dims from his eyes. It also lowers the darkside fueled shield Anakin had up, which is why he doesn't catch fire until that moment.
About a millennium before current events, Malachor V was all but destroyed in the final battle of the Mandalorian War against the Republic. The war was a front, the mandos provoked by the Sith to weaken the republic. You may have heard of Revan? They led many Jedi in the war against the mandos, but Jedi at war... well, it's not good for them. Falling to the dark side, Revan felt the call of the Sith emperor, and when they (and their apprentice Malak) returned from the outer rim, they were leading the forces of the Sith empire. There are plenty more details to the story, of course, but that is the setting for the two Knights of the Old Republic games, and the MMO that followed. I remember being disappointed that the name of Revan seems to have been forgotten, a thousand years later. There's a couple of videos by DuduFilm I'd recommend watching: Darth Revan / Trailer and Revenge of the Sith - Lost Home. Just don't watch Military Minds - Journey. It's about to become very relevant...
At least the voice of the temple was Asajj Ventress. This helmet split was the first time it happened. I was also very sad and just blank staring at the show. I couldn't think, I was transfixed. I love getting to watch you react to this show, I couldn't tell that you didn't feel well. I am so glad you are feeling better. 🤞My fingers are crossed that you keep getting better.
17:12 becomes an absolutely badass moment when you realise that Vader must have gotten out of his TIE Fighter *in flight* and used the force to steer it in. Did he have to do that? No. Did he do it because he's Anakin Skywalker and dramatic is *literally* his middle name? Yes.
The end of this Episode was talked about for YEARS! What did we see?? Her or her force ghost..No one knew.. The Ashoka/Vader fight was HUGE..EPIC to watch back then!
Oh, darling, we knew these would hit you hard! These amazing episodes were some of the best Star Wars IMO. We saw the cracking of the helmet first here and oh, it hurt! And we didn't know she survived back then. I love the long shot at the end, the music, Ezra crying in a blinded Kanan's arms. Nothing will ever be the same for our crew...
These episodes are amazing, some of the best parts in all of Star Wars. Kanan vs Maul, Ahsoka vs Vader. Amazing scenes and dialogue with such depth. Honestly heartbreaking to see Anakin try to murder Ahsoka after all they’ve been through. Can’t wait for you to see the rest of the show, it gets even crazier! As for your personal comments, we love your reactions! Just hope you feel better!
I've been soooo waiting for you to get here. The fight between Ahsoka and Vader is so incredible and so emotional... and I'm thrilled you recognized Maul before the reveal!
Jess: “I’m not ready for this.” “It wouldn’t be the first time.” To be fair though, I don’t think anybody was ready for the emotional damage of Ahsoka and Vader/Anakin
Unfortunately Ventress’ story ended off-screen, she had an 8-episode Clone Wars arc that was scrapped when Disney temporarily cancelled Clone Wars. However the arc was made into a novel called “Dark Disciple” where she teams up with Quinlan Vos and attempts to assassinate Count Dooku, it’s also a love story between Vos and Ventress. I haven’t read it yet but everyone says it’s amazing.
I would have to compare the fan base for rebels to the fan base for the musical group RUSH. We all love it, we all talk about it and when someone new comes along for the first time and gets their first taste of it we welcome you as a part of the family. This journey, for both fan bases, is best when shared with others.
Besides Luke making his entrance in The Mandalorian S2-E8, Vader riding in ON TOP of a Tai Fighter , not in it, is the most bad@$$ entrance I have ever seen in star wars. 😮
The great thing about Rebels is each season is better than the last. Then it just maximizes in the fourth. So, good stuff ahead. Great reaction, and all the best in real life for you
Hey, hey, so I just watched this for the first time. Kanan is my favorite Jedi. He might be my favorite character. It’s 12 at night, I’m not emotionally processing this.
22:27 What's up with Ventress can be read in her "Dark Disciple" book, which is one of the 10 clone wars arcs which Disney cancelled after taking over Star Wars.
S2 Finale is something else... I didn't know anything about the Clone Wars Show when I was watching this back then, I just heard about Ahsoka being Anakin Apprentice for some reason, but nothing else while watching this, and even I felt the emotional intensity of this.
These two episodes are fantastic. That fight between Ahsoka and Vader is so emotionally charged and well coreographed. And my heart broke when we saw a bit of his face and was like I won’t leave you. Not this time. I’m here after wat hing her reaction to Kanan’s death.
Hello, If you want to know the fate of ventress there is a book in current canon that is called dark disciple, this was supposed to be one of the clone wars unfinished arcs that never came out and it bacame a book that should be read in between ep in season 7 of the clone wars
Have been waiting for this reaction…one of the best episodes of the whole series! Tuesdays ♥️ “What fun, what fun!” I feel like you’d get a richer perspective with rewatching on your own time - there is so much going on between the battles and the lore and the confrontations (and Chop being an MVP). & Good catch on Vader’s mask being cut open, that was definitely intentional in the Obi-Wan finale and a Moment for Rebels fans!! p.s. Kevin Kiner is back to score the Ahsoka series as well. I am excited and prepping for all the emotions…
This 2 parter always brings tears to my eyes, me and my friends was talking about it until the next season came out. I’m so looking forward to the first episode of series 3, 😉 for one small reaction only.
I know many will comment that this is their favorite Episode(s) of Rebels. I am here to say that from now on Rebels still is amazing... ...personally as somebody who saw Rebels before Clone-Wars it even gets simply better after this (Twilight really is not that high in my favorite episodes of Rebels personally). I do understand why many people like it so much but honestly, in terms of script and execution it is not better than what is still to come in Rebels I just think this needs to be said since I personally think Twilight get's a bit to much hype because of what it means for beloved characters like Ahsoka and that could seem like this is peak Rebels which I don't think is fair at all
Although there are many more great episodes to come this is my favorite episode, its such an empire strikes back cliff hanger, and when i first watched this my thoughts were that this should have been a movie it was so well written
I wanna see the conversation maul and ahsoka had when everyone separated the first time. Would love to hear Maul tell her something like “so you are sensing something familiar about Vader? I told you so!”, where he tried to tell her in the clone wars finale
I’m glad this process has been so meaningful for you. 💙 💙 💙 Always enjoy your reactions and your authenticity. Wishing you the best as you continue to recover! 🙏🏾 (Also, needless to say, this finale was EPIC and is part of my upper echelon of Star Wars moments, esp. because of the Vader/Ahsoka confrontation. 🙌🏾)
You’re my favourite reactor by far. I’ve been following you since the start of the Doctor Who days and I’m so glad that now you’re on to Star Wars, my favourite franchise of them all. I always look forward to Tuesdays and I’m so grateful as I’ve been able to get joy out of your reactions even when I’m feeling really low so I just want to say thank you and I’m excited to see your Star Wars journey continue ❤️
Rest easy my darling, his story is not over yet. Mourn today, but the Rebels... we need you tomorrow. Be true to yourself when the time comes and you'll hear the force.
I'd like to think that Ventress will show up in live action hopefully... sure I know about the novels but as you know novels aren't 100% canon , there was actually a unfinished episode of the clone wars where she falls in love with Jedi Quinlan Voss , You remember him from the clone wars he has face paint and he's a tracker Jedi anyway they fall in love and they mentioned his name in the Kenobi series it was written on one of the walls his name so he did survive order 66 hopefully with Ventress They both went on the run together... That's why that episode was really special when I heard that name
But these novels are canon and they will not change it. Only legends novels can be overwritten by other shows. If shows reuse elements from the canon novels, they only change minor details, but not the main plot elements and this is definitely a main element.

Still one of my favorite duels in all of Star Wars
Same!
Same here! I even noticed that both Obi Wan and Ahsoka sliced his helmet on opposite sides.
Yeah the ending of this two part finale had me tearing up. The music made it emotional with Ezra tapping into the dark side
Good job on figuring out it was Maul. You did better than I did when I watched it.
To me this two-parter was where the show became great. I just wrapped up the series and oh, what a ride...
Definitely! I watched the show when it first aired and I can definitely agree that season 2 was where it got good!
Season 2 was a blast! It’s been fun watching your reactions on Tuesday’s and we’re excited for for Season 3! ❤
There is a book about Ventress concurrent with Clone Wars s6. You can find out about her fate there. Its called Dark Disciple.
Kevin Kiner. Ripping our hearts out with music since 2008
It's one thing to react to a show people love, it's another to be so invested in it that you're noticing the tiny details and connections that made those people love it in the first place.
Notice how when Maul greets the group, both the Inquisitors and the Jedi stop fighting and turn to face him because he's so unpredictable.
I like how Anakin’s and Ahsoka’s reunion in a Sith temple is a twisted inversion of their goodbye in front of the Jedi temple.
19:56 one detail I love is you can see the heartbreak in Ashoka’s eyes when she sees what her master has become
17:12 becomes an absolutely badass moment when you realise that Vader must have gotten out of his TIE Fighter *in flight* and used the force to steer it in. Did he have to do that? No.
Did he do it because he's Anakin Skywalker and dramatic is *literally* his middle name? Yes.
Remember he WILLINGLY shuts off his life support to dick with Rebel grunts.
@@bemasaberwyn55 Yeah. He's keeping himself alive through sheer force of will...
Best episodes of Rebels in my view. They're all good, but these two (especially the last one) are just perfection.
I've been soooo waiting for you to get here. The fight between Ahsoka and Vader is so incredible and so emotional... and I'm thrilled you recognized Maul before the reveal!
Jess: “I’m not ready for this.”
“It wouldn’t be the first time.”
To be fair though, I don’t think anybody was ready for the emotional damage of Ahsoka and Vader/Anakin
We should've known after The Wrong Jedi. Dave is an a*shole for inflicting emotional damage
I look at what happened in Obi Wan, Ahsoka broke one side of Vader's mask, Obi broke the other, and only Luke could take the whole thing down.
Obi-wan cut away the left side of Vader's mask, Ahsoka cut away the right side. But it was only Luke that could take the mask off completely.
Besides Luke making his entrance in The Mandalorian S2-E8, Vader riding in ON TOP of a Tai Fighter , not in it, is the most bad@$$ entrance I have ever seen in star wars. 😮
Vader learned from his mistakes, so he brought his own high ground with him.
Ventress no! read the book Dark Disciple
also the Voice of Sith Holocrone is Ventress voice actor
I so wanted a Maul vs Vader duel in this episode but I also got emotional with Anakin and Ashoka
IT'S FINALLY HERE!! STRAP YOURSELVES IN!!
“Ahsoka…”
😭
This is the episode we’ve all been waiting for. What an emotional rollercoaster episode 22 is!
17:13 one of the coolest shots of Darth Vader before Rogue One's hallway scene.
This 2 parter always brings tears to my eyes, me and my friends was talking about it until the next season came out.
I’m so looking forward to the first episode of series 3, 😉 for one small reaction only.
I love that moment at the end of Part 1 when Maul steps out and Inquisitors and Jedi alike stop fighting to face the biggest threat in the room
we are ready for this moment of emotions!
2:56 I think the Old Republic era is so interesting. Btw, there are 6 Old Republic game cinematics on RUclips which I can really recommmend to watch.
I do understand why many people like it so much but honestly, in terms of script and execution it is not better than what is still to come in Rebels
I just think this needs to be said since I personally think Twilight get's a bit to much hype because of what it means for beloved characters like Ahsoka and that could seem like this is peak Rebels which I don't think is fair at all
10:16 Inquisitors Spinning Light Sabers = Flutterbye Dance & Fly Fairy from Spin Master LOL
Maul is such a drama queen I'm impressed he kept his identity a secret as long as he did
we love ur opinions !!!! ur love for 3po and ap-5 is so iconic
And then, after THAT ending, they made us all wait like a year for season three!!!!
At least you can watch right away to see what happens...
JUST LIKE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK! My dad goes on and on that waiting years to resolve that bad ending was awful. It’s starwars tradition!
Although there are many more great episodes to come this is my favorite episode, its such an empire strikes back cliff hanger, and when i first watched this my thoughts were that this should have been a movie it was so well written
Absolutely! Very much like the final four eps of the CW were a movie...
(Also, needless to say, this finale was EPIC and is part of my upper echelon of Star Wars moments, esp. because of the Vader/Ahsoka confrontation.
"Then you will die braver than most." - remains one of my favorite Vader lines
You wanna talk about the music for Rebel Sabine’s theme at the backend of S3.
Ventress is dead at this point, read dark deciple for more info.
Rest easy my darling, his story is not over yet. Mourn today, but the Rebels... we need you tomorrow. Be true to yourself when the time comes and you'll hear the force.
I've been waiting for this episode every since you started Clone Wars. It was worth the wait!
Abundant levels of hype!
@@Mis7erSevenI mean, the Ahsoka novel pretty much got completely retconned and that was “canon”
@@Mis7erSeven Yeah they never canon... I'm sure she'll show up eventually I'd like to think that Star Wars is part of the Multiverse there's different versions of every character existing somewhere
"Can we get Ventress ?"
Yes please, a short Series about the Dark Disciple Book would be Awesome :)
Fun rewatching this great storyline with you! Rock on!!!
Vader pure evil or Anakin true Hero who sacrifice and loose everything.
One of my favorite music is Ghoust Mary on Across >=> Mary on Across Vader shorts
Fallen Angel video is cinematic vizual created from scene from Darth Vader comic where is this happend. Story is between Star wars episode 5 and 6. On Nabbo for answers about Luke's birth.
SW Anakin Tributes - Darth Vader by Ilia TS & Chosen one by Hero Fans Productions
Spoiler if you didn't play Star wars Canon vr game Vader Immortal see Star Wars episode 7-9

For me, the best thing about Episode 9 is how Ben was able to revive someone that even Vander couldn't and he tried it twice in the comics and in the game Vader Immortal. 😥😭😢
Would love to hear Maul tell ahsoka before her fight with Vader “I tried to tell you back on mandalore before order 66, but you thought I was lying and said my vision was flawed. I told you so.”
Remember: Kanan told Hera "I'll see you again"
Character note that isn't a spoiler for anything in rebels. When Kanan met Hera he well at the bottom, and an alcoholic drunk.
Thank you so much for these reactions! I look forward to them every week! And I try to remember to like your videos from both my youtube accounts.
Season 3 is going to raise the stakes even higher.
People who sleep on Rebels just don't know.
It still gets better💯
Maul trying to poach Ezra was a highlight of the show
❤❤❤ sending you some more love, Jess...love Tuesdays, love you!
22:23 Ventress has been dead for a long time at this point in the timeline
You'd think it'd be hard to beat the emotions in this finale. But Rebels isn't done making you cry. Seasons 3 and 4 are easily some of the best Star Wars content. Great reactions, you're perceptive, not much goes over your head.
