भारत मे इसे कालिहारी , कठारी या कुल्हारी नामों से जाना जाता है जबकि ग्लोरीओसा के अन्य नाम मे Flame Lily, Climbing Lily , Creeping Lily आदि हैं । ये भी tubers से लगाए जाते हैं इसकी करीब 6 प्रजातियाँ है तथा यह 3 से 8 फीट तक लंबी हो सकती है ।
Gloriosa is a genus of 12 species in the plant family Colchicaceae, and includes the formerly recognised genus Littonia. They are native in tropical and southern Africa to Asia, and naturalised in Australia and the Pacific as well as being widely cultivated. The most common English names are flame lily, fire lily, gloriosa lily, glory lily, superb lily, climbing lily, and creeping lily.
Can you grow gloriosa lily from cuttings?
Usually, gloriosa lilies are propagated by vegetative or root cuttings because the success rate is much higher.
Do Gloriosa lilies spread?
The stems grow quickly and from mid-summer to fall develop flowers that can be nodding or opening upwards. After the bloom, the stems die back. Two words of caution about this plant. Firstly, the tubers spread vigorously and in Australia and several Pacific islands, gloriosa lily is classified as invasive.
