Some interesting soundtracks there Shawn. Can definitely hear the Carpenter influence in the Beyond the Black Rainbow. I might watch the film. I like the orginal Solaris so long scenes with nothing being said are my sort of thing!
I listened to some of La Planete Sauvage and thought it was ok. Then I watched some of the film and it all made much more sense. Sometimes the audio needs the visuals for it to click. Definitely going to look out for the soundtrack, quite possibly the film.
My favourite soundtrack is the one to Tetsuo, The Iron Man. A film of Japanese industrial weirdness that I'm sure you'll know. Great industrial soundtrack by Chu Ishikawa. Unfortunately, most issues only have a selection of tracks from the first two films in the Tetsuo series. The Tetsuo Complete Box from 2010 does have the full soundtrack but it is very expensive.

Hey Shawn, been a bit busy but caught up with your videos. This is crazy, I'm not a Radiohead fan and that exact Suspiria album I have, and also the only Radiohead associated record I own as well! I think its definitely pretty good. Love soundtracks, have about 50 to 60 of them, bought a ton back in the day priced anywhere from 2-7 bucks. Carl

Great records to play while handing out candy to trick or treaters on Halloween! Cool stuff Shawn! Thanks for sharing those. I love Radiohead! OK Computer is still my favorite album from them. Have a great weekend.

Hi Steve. Suspiria definitely was a chilling, haunting vibe that reflects the remake of the film. But it’s also an interesting sonic adventure. The mood shifts from tender to melancholic then haunted within the same track. Even turning violent and threatening during specific segments. But always pulling you back into the story that Yorke has created. I remember OK Computer and it did have a huge impact at the time. For many rock fans in the US, it was the introduction to electronic music. In the same way that Flaming Lips brought many new listeners to electronic influenced music. That’s for watching! Cheers 🍻

If there ever was a parody best dressed award, you would’ve been a top contender Shawn.
And thanks for showing some great records. Taking notes as always. 🔥🔥🔥

Best dressed? Well, you have to admit that bar is pretty low on with most of the VC. Lol. Just kidding. I was in-between zoom meets for work (I work from home) and I try to look professional for the calls when I have a new clients. Thanks for watching. (Stunty's stream was great tonight. But now I have to figure out how much to spend. Lol). Be well. Shawn

@@the-vinyl-dreamscape5084 You have to really watch your wallet after those streams. Temptation is always there but we gotta pick and choose to make it work for us.
And yeah, VC is far from latest fashion trends. That’s for sure. 🤣
Working from home = lots of music consumption I guess.
Can’t argue with that perk. At least you put the pants on the for rest of us. 😉

I have the Goblin Suspiria soundtrack. Thom York always sounds like he’s crying to me 😂 I have the Beyond The Black Rainbow soundtrack & film. Some incredibly great tripped out stuff. I’m also a fan of Johann Johannsn’s soundtrack. Cheers….Ben

I hear you on Thom Yorke. I really do. But after I saw the new Suspiria I was completely taken by the soundtrack. Most of it doesn't use his voice. Instead Yorke uses atmospheric sounds that enhance the film and sound good independent of the movie. You may be surprised. Black Rainbow is great. I'm not so familiar with Johannsn's work but looking a little deeper these films definitely look interesting. Do you know the Turkish Director, Nuri Bilge Ceylan? His film Winter Sleep is brilliant. Spiritual, touching and dramatic is a completely unique way. Highly recommended if you inclined. Be well. Shawn

@@the-vinyl-dreamscape5084 I don’t know Winter Sleep but will see if I can find it 👍

It's funny, for a lot of people Radiohead was a gateway into electronic music, I sort of skipped them altogether. I know their main tracks, and a few songs here and there but never dug into their discography. I do love their song: Talk Show Host, which I think is only available on a soundtrack too. I did see The Smile live when they came to CO, and their show was good but I never listen to their records. I've seen Velvet Goldmine around the time it came out but don't recall much of it. I think I'm more interested in the last two you showed, will check them out.

You saw Smile? How was that? I was the same as you, I liked their main albums. I owned a Best of Radiohead on CD (Briefly). But Thom Yorke's Suspiria soundtrack is a different beast entirely. Much darker. Using voice and electronics for texture and color. You may enjoy it. Be well. Cheers!

The Smile is definitely more like Yorke’s solo stuff, also with darker elements. I love their drummer, who’s also in Sons Of Kemet. Plus they had a sax player with them as well.
