    This was silly. The true strength of 4x4 is the ability to go slowly with control. Just hitting the gas tells nothing about the quality of the 4x4.

    • @memd777

      Even 4x4 duster isn't meant for heavy offroading. It is supposed to be a family car with ground clearance which can take some light offroading. Bottom line, either go for the best or go for what certain amount of money can buy the best. Duster is budget friendly, that is the whole point but if you want to do serious offroading, you use nothing less than a Jeep with 35inch tyres.

    Guys I live in the mounty area!
    Rule - don’t worry about the clutch.
    Really . Just don’t .
    It’s just a consumable part and needs to be used well than replaced at necessity. It’s a car
    Burnt your clutch enjoy and don’t worry .
    It must be burned .
    Sometimes you need to find the spot of traction and the only way to do it is to burn your clutch a bit . In duster even if you really burn your clutch really badly it will still last 250-300 thousand miles . So stop worrying
    And enjoy your car

    Nice test

  • @level1player3
    @level1player3 2 года назад +26

    Do you know how the duster (and actually most) 4x4 lock work?
    If you go under a certain speed (usually it's in the range of 20-40 km/h) it will stay locked, if you go above it will unlock.
    So in conclusion, the tests you did with 4x4 lock on was on for the first 2 seconds, as soon as the wheels start to spin at that speed it will disengage it, even though the car wasn't moving fast.
    So those tests were useless but it did tell something valuable, and that is that the tests were bad and what counted more was the car's momentum than the 4x4 system.

    • @level1player3
      @level1player3 Год назад

      @@jec_ecart Ok let me inform how the slippage works:
      2 wheel drive, the 2 wheels slip > 4wd coupling engaged and it should direct power to all 4 but there is a catch.
      All these cars with these kind of coupling are designed to work when slipping on low speed and it doesn't work under heavy load of higher speeds so after a wheel(very important wheel speed) of 25-30-35 (depending on the manufacturer) the coupling disengages and becomes 2wd because it cannot handle the stress.

      It depends on the condition of the trail you go on. I f the trail has sections where you can't use the speed to get by and you have to go slow, there are chances you'll have to force the car a lil bit. but if the trail is ok, even with 2wd you can pass it. high ground clearance and good angle of attack are helping alot.

  •  2 года назад +3

    This Duster isn't 4WD, it is AWD which is different. If you have 4WD you can nearly get 50% of your power to the rear and 50% to the front. Plus you can mechanically lock the differentials. The AWD system isn't developed for off roading, that's why the front and rear tyres spinning with different speed at 4:13 for example. The two front tyres also spins at different speed. If you have 4WD you can have all your tyres will spin nearly at the same speed. So it's just addittional information for it, as far as i know this is the main differencies. Otherwise, the namings are very confusing and it is not at all clear that there is any difference between AWD and 4WD at all.

    При такой покрытии не следует так сильно газовать, тем более если это дизель. Воткнул 1 передачу, чуть разогнался, переключил на вторую и держишь обороты не ниже 2000 об/мин, но не надо раскручивать выше 3000 об/мин.

      Dar se decupleaza la o anumita viteza automat, dacă se supraincalzeste ,sau depăsesti o anumita viteza! O poți decuplat și din buton ,exact cum l ai activat,tot așa butonul nu rămâne.

    Would make better progress steering lock to lock and let the sidewalls of the tyres get you out. I used to train people in 4X4's in worse mud and snow than that and in the old boxy Dacia Dusters in the nineties that suffered a lot from wheel wind up.

    I am sure 4WD is making a lot of difference but also you had a lot more momentum in the 4WD shots. I think to make a valid comparison you would need to keep the same constant speed on both modes. 2WD with that momentum would have gotten you up the hill also.

    • @DusterCoolTravels
      @DusterCoolTravels  2 года назад +2

      Well, the momentum comes from the rear wheels, it should be taken into consideration. When having 4wd you get more speed of the same trail.
