- The #GoodwoodRevival celebrates everything that raced from 1948 to 1966, from the downright beautiful to the bizarrely weird. We've picked our favourite of these crazy machines, from the incredible 450bhp Battlebird to the wild Mini Marcos, they may be odd, but we love them all.

".. which has all the stiffness of a soggy bus ticket" is an example of FANTASTIC commentating 😂
The UK and their love for anything that has an engine and a set of wheels has my utmost respect. Never change.
That Thunderbird is just fantastic
The Battlebirds was an interesting story.
Which one?
Seems (and looks) damn fast.
@@mescko any good link to her story ?
First generation tbird was looking good, second generation looked a bit scary.
That duel with the Elan was some great sportsmanship. Very cool to see.
It's PURE JOY TO SEE THESE CARS RACING. BRAVO TO ALL THE OWNERS
The 1959 thunderbird is just the essence of pure driver skill and manhandling what should not be a good track car, and proving everyone wrong
Well it proved you wrong, brake, engine a chassis's were a great package, he was being gentle, too many exotics , pristinely turned out ones at that sharing the track to chuk it around full Wellington old chap
The first generation tbird was a direct competitor to the Corvette.
@David Olsson again, the first generation Tbird, the two seaters, were a direct competitor to the Corvette. It was the later 2+2s that were more luxury than performance.
@@ScottKenny1978 "The first generation tbird was a direct competitor to the Corvette."
Sales competitor only.
The only one I ever saw compete had a rear axle separate from the differential. The car came around a corner with one wheel sticking two feet out beyond the body.
@@geoh7777 was also a performance competitor. Had the 390 big block when Corvettes only had the 327. You pop the hood on a 1950s Ford police car and the valve covers would say "Thunderbird", because the Tbird had the most powerful engine in the Ford family.
An axle separating is not indicative of a general performance level, I have seen axles separate from any number of cars. Most recently a Jeep Wrangler.
I can't believe I hadn't discovered this channel sooner! This is sooo much more interesting than Nascar highlights!
Vintage racing is fantastic. Or, I suppose since you're watching UK action, the Dogs Danglies.
The mutts nuts
Great fun to see both Thunderbirds racing.
Great video , I love seeing the different cars and the drivers run the snot out of them.
I was really impressed to see a Jowett Javelin driven fast on the track. This is possible the most unusual car of the lot.
Ah, you're not the only one! They were fine cars but not what you'd call fast.
Racing birds great my dad and brother raced a 58 thunderbird gasser !
Oh boy, I love the Revival, all wonderful cars but a treat to see a Jewett Javelin Racing, wasn’t expecting that!

"go to bed Elan, you've had enough"
Jowet was fantastic...but why not? A very clever little car. All alloy flat 4, light body. My mate had one. When I was watching saloons in the 50's I seem to remember Simca Aronde being popular racers. I was at Goodwood on Saturday. Fabulous as ever!
I was spannering on the Jowett javelin, it was driven by Christian Horner and owner Julian Crossley
@@therealjamesmartin A friend had one In about 1964. He pulled the heads off and replaced the rings or a valve....long time ago. Anyway he could not find any torque settings so he used Beetle ones and the block cracked. Ah well....
Oh boy! Those blocks are getting rare now in decent nick too!
I had a Simca Aronde 4 dr sedanback in 1962. Great car, good date car, economical, wished I still had the car. This is a great video, thanks for sharing.
These cars are so fun to watch most new car races are kind of boring to watch
3:16 great racing.
I miss my ‘59 T-Bird with the 430 Lincoln in it.
Now that is some racing..
Cool looking SAAB
Both Generation T Birds we're badass No Doubt. I had two 1968 429 four barrels probably my favorite vehicle.
Gots me a 66 390 fe
"Ya' get oil on my car.... I'll kill ya.' "Ya' get oil on my helmet... I'll kill ya'." "If you get oil on the track.... Everybody will kill ya'."
The cream coloured ford. ....... looked alot like a MK1 Cortina with the roof cut off
Chris Needham it's a T-Bird
Chris Needham - The Mk1 Thunderbird was the inspiration for the Cortina styling.
@@blxtothis ........ Yes! That's the impression I got. My first car and the one I learnt to drive in was MK1 1500 super. 👍
Chris, I understood your post, and you are correct.
Number 99 was at Watkins Glen this September.
Now those are cars.
I understand the 57 but how did the big birds get into racing? A galaxie yes, but a luxo bird?..Yes.
I think in vintage racing you could race production cars with whatever engine and trans was available from the factory at the time. So a 59 thunderbird could have a 430 lincoln engine as it was optional. So he is racing a 59 tbird 430 v8 against puny 4 and 6 cylinder cars. Same with a galaxy you could run a 427 or 428 v8 against smaller cars with smaller engines.
If you are going to race an old car... might just as well do it in style!
MiNi マーコス、Lotusエランのバトルがスポーツマンで
素晴らしい👍レースでいいですね🥳🤩👍🎉
Need the mini vs lotus redone with the guys that were talking here vs in the main 8 min vid posted..... More excitement in these guys. 🤭😅
3:20 that cheeky wink
🤪🤪🤪🤪👍
Merica!
I was also intrigued by the MG Y type saloon. Was that the original 1250 engine? Not to mention the early lights in the grille morris minor. That model was side valve was it not....that fast?
Are you from Chichester? Sister called Jane?
- Tim Fox
so many iron!
👌👌👌
they should start a new class at all these older race events called "the brute force" class where in all the big bodied big cube cars joust around the track. It would be nice to see all the Birds, Galaxies, Studebaker Hawks, Impalas, etc racing against each other as opposed to the David and Goliath look of most all of these races. No finesse, just weight and raw power racing, although, most of the drivers of these big rigs are extremely talented and do control that mass and horsepower exceptionally well.
I agree. Separate the cars by horsepower or cubic inches, or liters.
Takes a heck of a lot of talent to race on drum brakes.
Sometimes, they put up single-make races. For example, several years ago, one of the races was an all-AC Cobra grid only...
Someone enlighten me with the bentley's negative camber
SFEdgetrophyrace
Not at Revival.
Willy Wonka
It is a pity they do not race old African cars here.
Spoiled by the cheese cutter wearing toff comentating
For some reason I can't take these races seriously it seems like the American cars are there for the announcers amusement the 59 long white T--------bird by Brittish standards, should indeed be shorter and have a proper name and where are the Ferraris?
Nobody races a 1950s or 60s Ferrari anymore. Last time they were raced was probably 1970.
Crud, people barely even run the things anymore...
