Abandoned Old hippy house. Near Byron Bay.

- I found this old abandoned hippy house about half hour from where I live down a dead end road. I used to be an old dairy bales where cows used to be milked and was converted into a house by hippies to live in. Not sure why it was abandoned and most of their stuff was left behind? Maybe they were growing marijuana and got busted?

What the heck makes you think that this is a hippy house?
because I live in the area and know exactly the type of person that wants an alternative lifestyle and it ain't a bank exec.
First off, I bet that house was cold as heck in the winter, and I loved that bottle wall, someone took a lot of time and effort to make that!
Someone took a lot of time and effort with quite a few things, I think.
Did you think the people were "hippies" because of the Style of the house? They might also have just been poor or wanted to walk on the earth lightly and use recycled materials. As far as the marijuana, I hope they were growing. It has medical uses and is much better for you than drinking. And the kids would be fine. It isn't where you are raised, but how you are raised. If it is with love and education, they should turn out OK even in a weird house. I noticed your trolls are back!

And this year California has...it's about flippin' time! I think pot, being a natural herb, is the one thing that NEVER should've been illegal in the first place...and I don't even smoke pot...anymore. I did for a couple years in my teens, of which was decades ago, and that was it.
Not all hippies did drugs. It looks like these folks redid furniture. I agree this person needs to put things back where he found them. I also like him being quiet. I also liked the video and it brought back some good memories for me, an ex-hippy.

What an amazing place..It reminds me of friends whom i stayed with up kinglake before the fires. The house was hand built and was 3 storeys high. Everything was natural and was mostly found at the tip. Back then people were throwing out antiques and lots of rugs and wood. It was an amazing house and it took them 15 yrs to build, continuously adding bits to it. The staircase was spiral and it was made from all different cuts of wood. The house was an amazing piece of art in itself. I stayed in the original bluestone x mudbrick x wood house they first built while they were building their masterpiece. We had alot of gatherings there over the years (rainbow camps as we called it. They were my fav years & i called them my happy hippy family. Nothing compares to living amongst nature..That video reminds me so much of those days. 😊
I bet if the fridge was plugged in it would work. They made things better back then
Great retreat for an artist. Nice lighting. Like stepping back in time! Modern is sometimes too modern! Would love to see this place brought back to life. Old stuff is great.
I loved the jewels around the inside of the windows, the bottles on the outside of the windows, the elephant and that tiny, adorable sink in the bathroom. Thanks for the great video! 😄✌️
What a fantastic little fridge! Crosley too. This would have been a great art studio. The glass bottle window was great, the painting very nice & the broken glass patterns on the wall too. Too bad all of it stopped suddenly.

Fuck that it has to be winter for you to be doing that cause if it was summer i wouldnt be pulling things out and walking around place for fear of snakes im from the North Coast myself and that to me looked like a haven for snakes .

so funny i am a hippy and proud about it, and there is nothing in this house that for sure is a hippy house, just someone who like art, show me a shag rug, water bed, peace signs some psychedelic art ect, then maybe a hippy house, lol

This is an old hippy home converted from a dairy bail and yes hippies in northern nsw do live like this and I am right in the heart of the original age of Aquarius hippy territory so I do have some idea of what hippy lifestyle is like. Those old refrigerators should have the door removed, children get locked inside when playing and they smother. Please go back and unscrew the door latch at least.

Wow! It surprises me that there aren't more beasties and crawlies in these places,I cringe when you open up cupboards and drawers ,this being AustraliaI know I would be fearful to explore these places,I'm glad you do it,I love watching this. I live in Northern Canada by the way.we don't have all the poisonous critters like you do.
Yea we do have a lot of those in Australia. In particular, spiders.

Maybe the roof blew off. The fabric in the closet looks like it is still good for recovering furniture.
The same happened in the bathroom, with the stones on the counter sink.

This is a really interesting place. I was surprised to see the big room at the back. It looked like they really lived there. The artistic touches were great like the paintings and the bottles in the wall, I wonder if they had a good time drinking the wine, Jeremiah!

What is it with Australian houses? Have they not heard of bricks? They all look like they're make out of matches and sellotape!!!
Most old Australian buildings were made with brick and even stone. But occasionally there were timber/weather board construction buildings like this one. Now days though, new buildings are not as good quality. They use a lot of Gyprock and hebel construction these days. Cheap and nasty. The old buildings are the best.

That's the oddest collection of stuff.. but the snow skis threw me for a loop. Why would they leave them behind.. doesn't everyone need a pair down under ? I've see people use colored bottle bottoms incased into cement before... but never the whole bottles. weird .
