#11 / #15 down! You might be wondering what the last few are? Well, we have a beautiful post and beam porch off the back with some rad corbel details.. You'll see it later on! Have you subscribed yet? If not, you should! Hope all of you are well, crazy times right now.. I'm officially locked away on quarantine with the wife and kiddos. Stay safe out there!
Here in southern California we are still working in the field, not sure for much longer that will be but pushing 7 days a week 12 hour days just in case we stop working.
You guys get the award for best choreography of a roof installation. I loved watching your crew work so well together. You have one of the best channels on RUclips.
Hey Matt, two questions/video suggestions. Can you talk about advanced framing your opinion and experience. Second I would love to see the whole list of tools your use. I loved the cordless framing nailer video (I just bought it after watching the video). Keep up the good work, I am really enjoying what you are doing.
I leave them everywhere.. Top plates, fascia board, etc.. One day, many years from now, someone will find them. Will RUclips be a thing then? Not too sure!
We took a load bearing wall down and put a beam in about 3 weeks ago. I wrote "Coronavirus 2020- no bueno bro" obnoxiously big on the beam before it got sheetrocked.
I can't imagine how much tree's were cut down in order to build every home/building worldwide. Its unimaginable. Without tree's oygen levels will for sure drop in 50 to 100 years. Who am I kidding? Nothings going to be done about it lol
Hey matt quick question about the hangers on the girder. Do you just pull the distance in off the birdsmouth of the girder that the girder is away from the corner the hip is bearing on? Or are you just laying the jacks out 24" O.C.
Maybe I cant see it in the video correctly but I was wondering how does the roof get air flow when you put blocks between the trusses where they sit on the walls and it looks like there is no gap in the peak for air to get out from a ridge vent. Also what is the reason for the sub fascia?
Hi, matt one question at duration 21:00 what are those sheets have on their one side, looks like some paper. What is that and why is it used on roof sheets.
I want to do this job Ican do all carpenter works I have already done the work in quatr since 3years company name is lithon . After from Saudi Arabia comp. Saudiojar My name Rafeeq Ahmed
hey yall, im in northern california coast. our plans call for 16d common nails, i want to use my nail gun though. what nails are yall shooting from your nail guns? i do have .131x3.25inch...thanks
question, im from the uk so we do things very differently but i wanted to ask you abotu the blocks you put between the trusses at wall plate level, what the shirtless guy was doing from 10 mins, is there any gap left between the blocks and the plate? for airflow and if not is there any airflow into the roofspace allowed for anywhere else?
Steeper the pitch, the more it’ll hang over the edge. If it was flat roof, you’d just pull 48”. Since it’s pitched, 48” would hang the sheet over enough to push drip edge out.
I love framing and the aesthetic appeal of the hip ridge but I dislike the waste or cut-off amount. Our local authorities wont allow us to use the drop-off upside so the waste adds up
They don’t keep up. If you drop them that’s $300 bucks down the pipe nothing beats the pneumatic nail guns. Now impact drivers and saws Zalla and circ saws those are good.
Rough Framing scope includes the following: - Wall Framing. - Roof System or Trusses. - Roof Sheathing. - Shim & Shave studs to ensure walls are laser straight for drywallers. - Porches (depends on the builder | we frame all of our exposed porches, typically post and beam style)
Damn Q i been at home for 2 weeks now our house that we need frame here in San Antonio tx been on hold since the virus hit and im hurting for money n to hear u slacking to go fishing. Bro was lil upsetting i. Dying to get bk to frame

Surely there is no reason for carpentry in the United States to save up to old age. As easy as security is prioritized. There is a great deal of attention to the quality of the construction so it does not matter if a man slips down from the roof per Denmark
And there is now recycled plastic that looks like wood that gets turned into decking, flooring and even patio furniture. I think I commented on another of your comments but the USA and Canada harvests timber in a very sustainable matter. The days of clear cutting and leaving the land devoid of any trees or landscape are long in our past. Now we do what is called patchwork clear cutting folloed by replanting. I will find you a section in California and pin you the link on google maps
Humboldt County California maps.app.goo.gl/RXvapd3LciU4G9j66. Zoom in, that is predominantly redwood forest, the patchwork is selective harvesting to lesson the impact on the forest habitat. What the map does not show is that the forest is generally speaking replanted and it is done in cycles so that there is always habitat. The EPA ( Environmental Protection Agency) and CARB ( California Air Resource Board) have very strict regulations on this type of stuff. On a last note, don't look how the world's metal supply is harvested that we all use, as it is generally really hard on the landscape leaving big holes in the ground especially in nations like China with little regulation. In the USA I believe we recently passed a law stating the land must be restored once the mining operation is shut down. But metal is totally different subject.
No I mean artificial timber. Because in underdeveloped countries and many Asian populated countries there is no concept ko farming timber and they mostly cut down fruity trees commonly mango trees for furniture purposes only. And there is no law against cutting of Fruity Trees. So can I ask you it it possible we introduce an artificial manufacturing of timber which may not be costly , environment friendly , protected from sunlight and other extreme weather conditions and very effective in other material testing experients its load bearing capacity and strong in seismic conditions , lateral and shear forces etc.
Hi everyone I think this is much wood. And also it might be costly and not environment friendly. I ask you how many trees you have cut down to achieve this wood or timber?
Quite contrary, wooden frame construction is much more sustainable and eco friendly than galvanized metal or especially masonry, it’s nearest two competitors.
Our wood in the USA is farm raised it isn't generally old growth timber but douglas fir grown in tight formation to force upwards growth which perfectly straight and the trees are generally not real old at least in tree terms, like 20 to 40 years old depending on the areas growth productivity. Also the OSB (oscillating straid board, aka the sheetimg) is made from the cut off chips when the trees are turned into dimensional Lumber so there is actually very little waste... Even the saw dust gets turned into fiberboard and the bark gets turned into ground cover mulch for Californias (the American West) arid landscape. As for construction wood waste it useally goes to a green waste recycling plant where it is sometimes composted, burned for renewable energy (in a low emissions electric plant) or it is sometimes even recycled into a different wood based product. And on that note the USA is actually a world leader for reforestation projects only recently falling ro second behind China but that is because the USA has been doing reforestation since the 1930s so I would imagine there isn't a lot left to reforest.
@@anwarsalih5821 the average American home built in 2013 was 2,600 square feet, and it would have required 16,380 board feet to build. A mature pine with a height of 80’ and a diameter of 2’. Using the method detailed above, you will find that its lumber yield is about 754 board feet. And if you require 16,380 board feet to build the average home nowadays, that would mean almost 22 mature pines. Just shy of 10 times less.

Oh god, You almost finish wow good luck with your work i bet it will look awesome when it's finished
Here in southern California we are still working in the field, not sure for much longer that will be but pushing 7 days a week 12 hour days just in case we stop working.
Did you add on extra pouches to your tool belt ?
I'm surprised you never seem to yell at Q for skipping days every so often?! 😕

Framing to Great Tunes & Sunny Weather Priceless
Love the quick shot with the drone.
Those roof trusses look complicated, but you guys make it look easy. Great leadership Matt, till tomorrow
Fantastic. I am looking for hip roof with trusses and did not find a quality one like yours. Many thanks
Well I think you are doing great work. It looks good
man that is one awesome looking dad
Great job. Your efficient, good balance of quality and productivity.
keep the trio dynamic ...
Love the way u do roof trusses allways on point brother #besafe
I work at a truss company and looking at these video of urs now I knw what every single truss is for and we’re they belong too nice work by the way
I do have a question, where can I get those things your grandpa invented? That is awesome. I’ve been looking for something like that for years.
Great vid.... as usual!
Just found this channel 👍🏻keep up the awesome work🙌

i love how your radio music is older than you. LOL. great vid.
ALL of it it. Jay and My Pops are to blame! Haha
Hopefully somebody eventually gets your note on the sub fascia so they know that Covid sucks 😂 Bang On!
Uh ohh.. I see the blade guards are pinned up.... I'm telling... Lmfao
Bangtastic!
14:21 nice little tag there... wonder if anyone will ever see it...
I leave them everywhere.. Top plates, fascia board, etc.. One day, many years from now, someone will find them. Will RUclips be a thing then? Not too sure!
MattBangsWood I do the same thing during remodels. Proud of my work. Bang on!

You rather use steel and concrete that generate 100X the greenhouse gas?
when your healthy its almost fun building a home for yourself
Hey Matt, what kind of air hose are you using? Looks extremely flexible. I need that!
I need to know this aswell please
I may be wrong, but it looks like a Hitachi (Metalbo) polyurethane hose. They get more flexible with use.
He mentions it in his latest video series I'm sure
No rain 👍
Does a roof sheet needs to span a minimum number of trusses? It looks so great with sheets on.
Bro theses videos are fucking awesome rhode island framer showing love keep it up bro

Matt - when you finish a section, can you let us peons know how long that time lapse was? Thanks!
Hi, matt
one question
at duration 21:00 what are those sheets have on their one side, looks like some paper. What is that and why is it used on roof sheets.
FIRST!

DO YOU USE THE SPACERS ON THE ROOF SHEETING??
Looking awesome! Beautiful country. What city are these lots near?

Hey Matt, why are your eve blocks on edge and is it common to run subfacia where you live? Thanks love your vids
What's the reason for the double facia?
Why do you snap a line at 48 1/2"? Does the OSB line up with the sub fascia or main fascia? Thanks
Steeper the pitch, the more it’ll hang over the edge. If it was flat roof, you’d just pull 48”. Since it’s pitched, 48” would hang the sheet over enough to push drip edge out.
Do u guys install the doors n windows
"By quarantine i mean skip work to finish off his buddies"
How many total days was this build?
What’s the thickness of the sheeting for roofs and siding.
I love framing and the aesthetic appeal of the hip ridge but I dislike the waste or cut-off amount.
Our local authorities wont allow us to use the drop-off upside so the waste adds up
You can use the off cuts on the other hip end 👍
What happened to Smokin Steve Tyler?
Not a pro myself, but im curious to know why you guys aren't on cordless nailers?
They don’t keep up. If you drop them that’s $300 bucks down the pipe nothing beats the pneumatic nail guns. Now impact drivers and saws Zalla and circ saws those are good.
Matt, Great vids and work. Are you guys responsible for windows and ext. door installs like we are here.
How come you guys don't nail your bird blocks as you go?
what is included in the definition of framing a house ? If you hired a contractor what would be included for the square foot price ?
Rough Framing scope includes the following:
- Wall Framing.
- Roof System or Trusses.
- Roof Sheathing.
- Shim & Shave studs to ensure walls are laser straight for drywallers.
- Porches (depends on the builder | we frame all of our exposed porches, typically post and beam style)
@@MattBangsWood ok thanks... so the sheathing for the roof is included but not the exterior wall sheathing.
that would make a good video.... to give in detail just what is included.... just an idea... thanks for the info really like your channel !
I like the design and as always your work is fantastic, but I keep thinking that house is being built in a sand pit.
Damn Q i been at home for 2 weeks now our house that we need frame here in San Antonio tx been on hold since the virus hit and im hurting for money n to hear u slacking to go fishing. Bro was lil upsetting i. Dying to get bk to frame
How can u haave that music on on 19:15? Not monetized?
Pretty much, any videos like this where music plays for a few seconds.. I'm not allowed to make money on. RUclips will play ads on it anyway, but I don't get the $$$.
Yoooo Matt havnt watched yet but I gotta know. Who does the drone footage
he does it himself
Didn’t you get in trouble before for the radio playing in your videos?
Yes! They take away my ability to make money.. Kind of sucks, but oh well. 🤷♂️
Where has Fox been
I like videos of yuo....
🇲🇨👍👍
What happened to Q? Is he not allowed out to play? Ahh, question answered.. lol

Omg I've never seen sub facia put on so fucking slow
What happen to the one skinny guy ??

Can we make artificial wood?
what do you mean artificial, they have engineered or man-made wood made out of wood chips, LVL, LSL, OSB
And there is now recycled plastic that looks like wood that gets turned into decking, flooring and even patio furniture.
