React Gaming #208 - TOMB RAIDER ORIGINAL GAME vs TODAY (1996 vs 2016) (Teens React: Gaming) - Развлечения
The graphics at the time were amazing! I remember thinking how realistic the water was.😂
In the old Tomb Raider Lara didn't grow as a character, you grew as a player
Agreed.
Thunders well said!
Well said ^_^
the old tomb raider is
Two years later but I have to answer to this. This is the wisest comment ever.
15 minutes of first tomb raider: a platformer with dinosaurs and difficulty
15 minutes of new tomb raider: basically just a movie
(ive never played either, just going off what it looked like)
these were not the first 15 minutes of the first tomb raider, there is more story telling, but graphics wise of course there is a huge difference. i've played since TR1 on PS1 and back then the graphics seemed amazing! :)
You are right.
To me the first one is artificial difficulty that is a result of old technology.
The New game to me come across as more immersive and story driven.
I've played all the Tomb Raider released games, but my ultimate favorites are still Tomb Raider 1, 2 & 3. Especially the levels in Tomb Raider 3 are a challenge to play. Personally, I loved playing Venice in Tomb Raider 2. Probably my favorite level out of the series.
PyroCham venice:) ahh the nostalgiaaa
The Music in this level.. Mamma Mia
Nice:) I've played all Tomb Raider games too:)
But my all time favourites would be Tomb Raider II and Angel of Darkness:)
Also yes, I love Venice level from Tomb Raider II:)
TR fan for as long as I'm alive:D
Hell Yea!!! I got Tomb Raider, Tomb Raider II, Tomb Raider III, Tomb Raider Last Revelation, Tomb Raider Legend, Tomb Raider Anniversary, and Tomb Raider Underworld.
PyroCham Yes that was great and now you can play old Tomb Raider on multiaplyer Launcher! :) on STEAM steamcommunity.com/groups/TombRaiderClassicMP on Discord discord.gg/NMQbzS
"I was never really curious before cause I was like oh it's like uncharted."
Oooooo those can be fighting words to the long time tomb raider fans.
LOL when he said that I literally wanted to punch him xD
He redeems himself because he then says he knows Uncharted was inspired by this, lol. I forgive him.
DingoEnderZOE2 only the deluded ones lol. The Reboot games are heavily inspired by uncharted. We never had crazy action set pieces or cover based combat that is stealthy in the franchise until after two uncharted games were out and absolutely slaughtering Tomb Raider Underworld in sales and reviews. It’s clear they jumped on the Uncharted bandwagon. It’s easy to say Uncharted ripped off Tomb Raider, but back when Uncharted came out the only similarity they had was they both starred a treasure hunter in exotic locals. The actual gameplay couldn’t have been more different. Tomb Raider was created to be a puzzle solving platformer focused on exploration and atmosphere. Uncharted was from the start a cinematic action game with linear paths leading to each big gun fight with cover based shooting. I’ve been playing Tomb Raider since the original, and it’s painfully obvious Lara is no longer a trend setter. She at one point had her own lane carved out, but she is now a follower because Square don’t want to take a chance and just want to bank on a formula they seen Naughty Dog be incredibly successful using.
I mean is he wrong tho, look what it’s turned into. A mockery
When someone says the new Tomb Raider levels can or are more complicated than the old ones. T.T lol THEY DON'T EVEN KNOW
Tomb Raider 3? :D
Last revelation had great puzzles that got me thinking.
That's true, but I thought we were discussing the complexity of levels, and for that, in my opinion, TR3 takes 1st place, as you could finish levels in multiple ways, and there were some that were actually really complex, and hard to grasp. TR4 had great puzzles as well, but besides some parts where you didn't have any indication of what to do next (Cairo anyone?), it is pretty much straightforward :)
TR3 was my first game in my childhood years while yet... I could never passed that level as a kid. Must’ve been hard for all 90s gamer for their beginnings like me lol
I can't remember how many times I got stuck, and when I finally beat the Antarctica level & the Area 51 level, I felt so much achievement in just that lol
"This is my proudest moment I want to thank my mom" 😂😂😂😂
Anínesah Rodriguez Lol ikr😂😂😂
Tomb raider ps1 was my childhood
Who remembers the mansion and the butler ?
Mouna Da I remembered getting him stuck in the freezer. Poor creepy guy
Ngl I used to be scared of the butler when he followed me everywhere.
Mouna Da Ah poor old Winston I found the manor in the first game not that interesting because there wasn't a whole lot to explore but TR2 would let you go outside and explore most of the rooms and in 3 she had her own race track out back I miss the old games so much
I always kept walking in circles around the butler
@@RaphaelPHorever same omg ahahahah idk if it was because of a bug or something but once I closed him inside and came back to check him after a while and he wasn't there anymore, he disappeared😂 it was so funny I used to say he died there lmao
This was creepy.. When the music started with the T-rex, I felt the exact same fear in my body as I got when I played it over 20 years ago.
Daniel: “This is like Uncharted.”
Me: “No. Uncharted is like Tomb Raider.”
lol no, uncharted was a cinematic aproach to adventure games like TR and PoP with a 3rd person shooter spin, i LOVE the old TR games, but the new ones are basicly an uncharted game with a softer lara
Nathan Drake is a male Lara Croft.
Lara Croft is a female Indiana Jones.
So....Nathan Drake is a male Indiana Jones?
Uncharteds theme is used in more things that came before tomb raider in the form of the films. The new tomb raider in terms of mechanics is heavily an uncharted clone where as the previous tomb raider games were completely different.
Same
Barry Allen
But Uncharted's Nathan Drake is the graceless male version of Tomb Raider Legend's Lady Lara Croft
Here's the thing: the new game would not have been possible without the original version. This is a lesson for life - we may think we're greater than our predecessors, but that's only because we stand on their shoulders. And the original game itself also owes a lot to previous computer games going back all the way to Pong.
So yes, enjoy the amazing new graphics and gameplay if you will, but respect the origins of gaming.
Calm down lol
Oh, and I'll add to this...in 20 years' time, they'll be laughing at *our* graphics...perhaps wondering how we could possibly only play in 2D or something, lol. Still won't detract from how good the 2016 version is/was :)
@@sweeperboy exactly what I was thinking
The game play in the new one was fucking qte.
The old Tomb Raider games were hard af, the puzzles especially. The graphics got much better after TR1, TR2, TR3 & TLR had great graphics on the PS1. The new ones are fun but I miss those hard puzzles from the old ones from Core Design. I really wished they had them play Venice in TR2, that level was so much fun!
Venice was AMAZING, even the classic music with the violins is so iconic for my generation. My favorite level from all Tomb Raider games hands down.
Ikr? i loved that violin theme and i agree, it is. and crashing the boat through the window when you had to race to the exit before it closed, awesome!
TheBraunMachine2011 yeah that's the problem with new games. Not many puzzles or hard
Don’t get bad controls and graphics mixed with hard
@Michele La Mura no I’ll stick to the movies
tomb raider was the first video game i actually played, i played other games before but i just smashed controls with them, tomb raider i actually learned how to play the game and progressed through the game
it will always have a spot in my heart
EnigmaYT mines was that green army game for the 64
Toy soldiers?
Vordox no close
Nothing beats running in circles in an aimless tomb, not knowing what you're supposed to do next, only to realize the last piece of the puzzle was right in front of your face the whole time XD I prefer the originals. They were more challenging. Especially The Last Revelation.
True.
And Lara didn't talk during gameplay to give you hints about puzzles, thereby spoiling them. Sure they made this mistake in Legend, but at least they learned from their mistake and made everyone silent in Anniversary and Underworld.
Last Revelation was my first TR game, and oh my God it is challenging. Played it when I was about 4 to 5 years old. My favorite stage being the one with the train in the middle of the desert, I would often save at the beginning to just replay it whenever I wished to. XD
Honestly, to this day, I have not beaten it still. And yes... I still play it on my old PS1.
I literally did that during The Last Revelation. It was in one of the bigger areas. Not even a puzzle but I spent a couple of days trying to figure out where to go with no luck. Went out and bought one of the few official guides I've ever bought only to be told I had to proceed through a giant open doorway I was POSITIVE I had already been through. It might be the biggest brainfart in my gaming life.
it wasn’t challenging it just had bad graphics and controls 😭. if that game was on a ps4 rn i probably could beat it in a day
The fact is: the first few Tomb Raider weren't the same exact genre as the new one.
The Playstation era's Tomb Raider were basically Prince of Persia in 3D, games in which you had to time precisely your jumps and momentum; while the new ones are much more forgiving, focusing on the cinematic experience.
I played almost every games of the series, and I wouldn't say "the first ones are better" or "the new ones are better" - they just aren't the same kind of games anymore. And both are pretty cool in fact.
Cinematic games are more immersive, you feel like a part of the story. Not sure why people are so nostalgic about old games. I lived through both times and current games are definitely more fun to play.
Purrbox: I feel like gameplay, the thing that should be important in a game, is more important for immersion, whether it's cinematic or not. Sometimes, being too cinematic takes away from immersion because I'm not longer interacting but simply watching.
old tomb raider was more immersive to me because i felty like I was on the adventure. New one is too cinematic, that I felt like I was watching it. I had more enjoyment from the movie than the new game, because it wasnt a cinematic interactive game..it was just a movie.
Except that the new Lara is not real Lara. She is some twisted version that you can't even recognize as Lara anymore.
Oh, trust me, the original Tomb Raider was SO HARD. I don't think I ever beat it.
for me, tomb raider 3 was the absolute hardest, and it was primarily due to the save system. You had to collect these crystals to use as save beacons.. the problem was if you didnt know the level, you had no idea when to use them, and sometimes i ran out, using them in an area that ended up borderline impossible to beat.
Letitgo101 finnaly a true tr fan
These kids laugh they dnt know how hard it was
I had to have help when it came to rombriader old ones.. ahhh the Venice level :(
Fighting the critters scared the crap out of me when I was a kid, I didn't make it very far in that game.
It was hard cause it was a pain in the ass the control
Letitgo101 well SPOILER ALERT: She discovers Atlantis then blows it up 😂
WHERE ARE MY HARDCORE TOMB RAIDER FANS AT??? +1 LIKE
That's such an easy way to beg for votes.
12 year old me was amazed by the graphics of Tomb Raider when it first came out. 34 year old me is still being amazed by the graphics games have these days.
lol the wold is moving so fast with techs and everything
I love the original tomb raider. It brings back so many memories!
Bro original tomb raider for life
let me guess no one mentions how you need skill and need jump at the right time in the old Tomb raider and the new one basically plays it's self with magic magnets Lara with special guest every jump auto correct you so you always land.
rob morris oh I know I played this game when I was 5 with my dad I played a lot better then them 😂
Agreed
This was fun, you should definitely do more old vs. new game stuff like this.
Zomdra I second that
To be fair without the first game you wouldn't have the latest incarnation. It was also one of the first games with a main female protagonist. I'm glad Lara and the Tomb Raider franchise are still alive and kicking.
Erm... Metroid? (both are overrated, there might be a main female protagonist who existed earlier than these 2, correct me if I'm wrong)
@20DX00 I'm pretty sure there were other female protagonists even before Metroid, but Samus Aran was the first real action heroine in a video game - 10 years before Lara Croft. Metroid is celebrating it's 32nd anniversary this year and with Prime 4 on the way fans are looking forward to slip into the varia suit once more and do some good old Alien butt kicking. I just hope Nintendo actually advertises this game properly, because most younger gamers know Samus from Smash Bros and not her own games...
And I don't think Samus is overrated, simply because she's a pioneer and even today having an action heroine as the protasgonist in a game targeted primarily at male audiences is not common at all - and Metorid did it over 30 years ago.
I said one of, not the first. I knew about Samus already.
Ok, wrong interpretation of your sentence, my bad
But still, I'm curious if Samus even was the first
Is one of the firts adventures in 3D, is a pioneer, and that is more important
They should also have had them play Tomb Raider Anniversary since it was a remake of the 1st game
Old tr was much more challenging but very satisfying completing each level.
Who remembers getting the 1st Playstation console and Tomb Raider being on the free game sample CD? I love running around the mansion and having the butler chase me up and down.
Damn, the evolution of gaming. I love it.
Remember back in the day that when you bought a game, you actually got the full game not this DLC or season pass bs.
Extra contents came with cheats and achievements back in the day, and they were rewarding as hell.
New games are just easier and they do everything for you. But with that said they are beautiful.
Not everything, Killing enemies, solving puzzles and figuring out where to go, what to find and how to progress. Do they have quick time events, yes but thats like only a part of the game and even that is reaction time.
I loved trapping the butler in the fridge lmao
Tomb Raider! I was waiting for this episode! :D Make full playthrough :)
Ohh how the 1996 tomb raider brings back so many memories! Lara Croft was a big part of my childhood! :)
"This was simple enough". Enough said.
In one game they were playing, in the other one they were watching...
Marcus Emanuelsson True, but in the one they were watching, it was pretty epic looking.
He said he didn't want to play it because it was like uncharted? Dude Uncharted wouldn't even exist without Tomb Raider paving the way.
Seems like he doesn’t knows that fact about classic TR games exists before Uncharted games exists. Good grief... those gamers like that bothers me 😒
sin pitfall y varios juegos mas, no habria tomb raider
Unless you played the game when if first came out, you don't understand how good it was, these kids don't understand.
I did and I was impressed with TR when it came out and I was like 12. It hasn’t aged well however and just isn’t as exciting from even a gameplay standpoint comparatively
True.
These kids existed way after Tomb Raider came out. Of course they don’t understand.
shut up and go back to work
I didnt play when it came out because i wasnt born yet but when i was 4 years old i met tomb raider (sorry for my bad english im spanish) and then i stared playing the old ones and i like more the old ones than the new ones, and tomb raider 1 aged good for me
I still think the original holds SO well
and its pretty amazing x3
Mikaela is a bombshell
In the old one there were no helps or anything. You had to find your way alone. Alone in the first minute of the new game there were more helps than in the entire old game.
Uncharted was inspired by Tomb Raider which was inspired by the Indiana Jones movies which also were another inspiration for Uncharted :P
I don't feel like they were really "playing" the new one. They were just guiding a character to the next quicktime event.
the challenge of the new ones is in the combat. There are not so many platform or puzzles.
@Rafael Vieira I don´t think youknow what a shot them up is.
@@capscaps04 it ain’t tomb raider
OMG YESSS FINALLY!! Pleaaase make a let's play with either Tomb Raider or Rise of The Tomb Raider!!
Tomb Raider is a classic!!! God I'm old 😢
new tomb rider it's like, uhm, press square to win)
When the remake came out in 2013 I actually haven't played the original version, so I played both one after another. The original game actually got me pumped and excited, while the newer one was more just like walking around doing stuff - it was very simple and not thrilling at all, despite the beautiful graphics.
I just. finished the tr 2013 one and let me just say there’s actions a lot of it I remember my childhood was filled of tomb raider like the old ones and then i found out about the 2013 and 2016 one and my mind was blown. I was little so playing the older ones was a huge challenge but the newer ones i admit are easier but at least they don’t make u go ....wtf what am i supposed to do. the game does get me mad a lot when i keep dying but nothing compared to the rage of a 7 yrlod trying to find out what i am supposed to do next then die every time i jump thee weong way. It’s just my opinion tho not everyone shares the same opinion.
It's really cool when you see people who aren't completely gamers actually find a game they enjoy
Now put them to finish Rise before the new one is announced in April 27.
Lucas Freire the new one has already been announced. It comes out September 18
Correction September 14th
Tomb Raider is phenomenal without a doubt.
Mikaela could do a good Lara Croft Cosplay
Tomb Raider 1-5 was the best of the series. No doubt in my mind.
Have you played TR Anniversary? I think it's a remake of the first game.
Erastus Mwandingi From Crystal’s Anniversary, it was confirmed of course but... not accepting Core’s first remake of TR is a dick move from what Eidos did. So, your point about Crystal’s TRA version is?
Michael Espeland What about AOD? That game was unfinished since no thanks to Eidos, they don’t give Core a chance to complete that game especially when TR3 almost had all things remove. If I were Eidos, I would give Core better timing to finished the game instead of rushing a game to be in stores. My gosh, Eidos 😒
Michael Espeland 6,7 and 8 were incredible
I grew up playing these games!!! Literally one of my favorite react videos!!!
I feel old, though obviously Tomb Raider is one if the best franchises of videogames.
MARK REALLY SAID TOMB-MANY AHA
Didn't expect to see you commenting here!
oof
Games in the 90's = levels, games nowadays = quicktime events
Is that a problem?
Never said it was.
Your not getting the point of the comment. controls were intentional to make them difficult or just didn't have the capability. game now a days are too easy that hold players hands. I hate it when kids now a days just quit cuz of a simple challenge.
"gameplay"
I don't think 10 minutes of just cutscenes and quick time events can be called "better gameplay".
Really felt the need to point out that the 20 year old game didn't look as good, huh?...I'm sure it's just because it was early in the game, but the modern one just looked like a mildly interactive cutscene with all the QTEs
CouchPotatoCNPB only in the beginning. You actually have gameplay after this introduction.
CouchPotatoCNPB it was because it was early in the game
Nope. Back in the 90s levels were challenging and didn't hold your hands. It took me a while to pass the Tomb Raider from the 90s while it took me a day and a half in the new series. Games have gotten way easier now.
Ikr I was gonna say something but hey now I don't have to
Disagree. TR & most games back then was long & hard because of clunky controls.
heloves23 it looked like they weren’t even doing anything, and I saw no tears of frustration or raging.
Disagree Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, some of the games had levels that were hard AND forced you to start all over again.
My argument is triple A games nowadays (aside from the ones that are trying to be hard, I'm looking at you Dark Souls) focus more on action cutscenes to sell their games (look at all the cinematic trailers, 0 gameplay whatsoever). And as you can tell from the React-er's reaction to all the flashy stuff, they seemed more interested to see the game do things for them when they only press 'square' (5:00). Higher difficulties just makes enemies deal more damage and lower resources
As for old school games, sure they're fun, but I've never completed/finished any of them (Tell me you've beaten Mario without warpzones). Hard games are fun and I play a lot of them now, but they take commitment, and that turns off a lot of people (avid Touhou/bullet hell fan, wanna see them react to that)
Honestly, I'm not saying all triple A games are bad (but I personally don't like most of them), they're a good introduction to people who don't play a lot of games
the new one plays itself
The original TR was the first game I ever played with Graphics Acceleration. Still got my old Orchid in the shelve. The graphics just blew me away back then.
Playing TR with CPU-only vs. GPU-Acceleration... that was really a leap forward. The game just came out at the right time. That's why the graphics were so hyped.
But it was an awesome game. I lost hours on that as a kid.
I remember thinking about how cool the Tomb Raider graphics were when I was a kid... God, I'm old.
BGomes1991 I know right?
The old one gave you a lot more freedom, it wasnt just a cutscene with "press X" every couple of minutes.
Matias Ahumada pretty sure you haven't even played the one or the old one for that matter. So please shut up
Also linearity doesn't make a game worse,
Matias Ahumada that’s just the intro of the game -_-
Makes me sad how their more excited about 15 minutes of quick time events, rather than an actual game.
I'm sure the game itself is good, bu the part they played is an interactive cutscene
To start you off with eye candy, get you into it, and then some real gameplay, some cutscenes here and there, is a great formula IMO. Older games didn't have the tech to make great cutscenes, but I think they would've if the tech was there.
JJames666male I mean, I'd be too if those 15 minutes of quick time set the stage for more fantastic gameplay than those few minutes of graphically and mechanically inferior gameplay [don't get me wrong, I like Tomb Raider and I understand how difficult it is to make a game, especially in the 90s. I'm just pointing out why their reactions are understandable. It's like playing the original Persona gameplay and playing through an interactive cutscene [though they're more of interactive tutorials] in Persona 5.
Hgo S I think games should be games first and foremost. If I want a bunch of cutscenes I'll watch a movie. Tends to look better than even modern video game cutscenes.
Maddy J. The gameplay was boring, repetitive and forgettable in the 2016 Tomb Raider. I remember the original tomb raider way more than the modern one and I played the modern one like 2 years ago, haven't played the original for like 8 or more. It may look nice and feel really polished but the actual level design is just so hollow, uninspired, and easy.
That gameplay tho, it’s not fun in the slightest. If I wanted to play a shoot em up or a FPS I’d play call of duty or fortnite
Weird how with the old one they lose but they are amazing with the new one.
Lena MadeInBuenosAires The tank controls don't help.
Lena MadeInBuenosAires They are barely playing in the new one, its like one button press at a time
Not to mention that in the game game, you just hold the stick in a general direction and press a few quicktime buttons. It gave the appearance of skill in a crumbling mountainside when it was all scripted. And when I said hold the stick in a general direction, I mean it. The girl in the last clip should have fallen to her death from jumping at a bad angle, but you can see Lara curve herself toward the wall to save her from failure. I know it's an intro/tutorial section, but damn!
That T Rex entrance was a landmark in gaming.
Direnova i've play the original and the anniversary edition and i have to say fighting that T-rex never gets old
Instant sweaty pits.
Play the full game
Old school tomb raider...aaaaaw the memories I have of me sitting on our computer and playing this.
Original = needs skills to be awesome.
New one = Press X to be awesome.
crazymaner2003 OMG. True! XD
Puzzles nowadays: Where does the red triangle fit into? a) Blue Circle b) Red Square c) Red Triangle. You have 3 tries!
Lol
It's not a better game you know. Qtes aren't the gameplay of the game
Lara is awesome allways XD
Am I the only Tomb Raider fan who's played every entry and loves each game (old and new)?
Same here I enjoy every minute of it and I’m only 13
Present!
I do love all the Tomb Raider games. Though I do have a preference for the Classics over the newer ones. Most of my TR collectibles are based on the Classic games :)
Tomb raider and crash bandicoot were my childhood
ME TOO! on my old PS1
I actually played the original tomb raider last week and it was a trip to use the D-pad instead of analog sticks
Oh man React replied to your comment. You must feel awesome
Aqua Man it's pretty cool yes
It's not everything about graphics, kids
Well. It makes sense, because they don't have the same nostalgia you have.
It does cause we grew up with smooth graphics not polygons. So, we care mostly about graphics.
I only just started playing the original TR last year, and I’d never even heard of the game before that (born in late 90s, so zero nostalgic connections). I prefer it over the new stuff because of superior gameplay and atmosphere. If I wanted to play new Tomb Raider I’d just get the Uncharted games, since thats what new TR wants to be. Or I’d get The Last of Us, or The Long Dark
Uncharted=bette action, better characters.
The Last of Us and the Long Dark = better survival gameplay. Also the Last of Us has superior story and characters.
Also, the graphics of 8/10 so called AAA games do not really look that good. I've come to the conclusion they are conditioned to consider them good, because it doesn't make sense otherwise.
@@elias.t well, ai development in games stoped in 2001,you playing same shit over and over, dumbed down so every average Joe can have his fun =)
I loved played the 1st back in the day. I remember roaming around her house with the butler amd going through the maze and stuff lol ahh nostalgia...
Play the whole game, but i would make them play the first reboot instead of Rise, as the story is stronger
actually they can do both one after another
I like playing old games but for some reason those old Tomb Raider textures were giving me a headache.
tomb raider was my first game on ps1 +.+
Me too
Sameeee i remember when my father bought us xbox the original we threw the hell out of that ps1😂
Same here :)
It was the first game I played when I got my original PlayStation
They are kids...they haven't lived through the progression of the graphics that most of us have.
Most of us? You do know that most gamers are their age, right?
Jerod Garrison Most gamers ARE they're age or slightly older. Gaming culture wasn't a big thing back at the time of the original Tomb Raider. The only reason I know about it is because of my aunt because this was the only video game she ever played before Wii came out. There's a very limited number of people who have "lived" through the progression of games.
Wut?? "The only reason I know about it is because of my aunt" oooohhhh
That makes sense
Maddy J. Dude im 21 and I've played the older games. They're the same age as me. It's just they're not gamers.
Have them replay Tomb Raider og in a full series playthrough.
1996 Tomb Raider: You move character at your own pace. You have full control and possibility to explore areas. It is more about exploration than combat.
2016 Tomb Raider: Hit that square button!
No, not really. Tomb Raider nowadays has much more to the gameplay than it did before. You're just exaggerating.
Yep the exaggeration is real
I wouldn't agree, maybe there is more things to do and more mechanics implemented, thing is they are all very much simplified. In classic games you needed to learn moves and you had to think of what to do, sometimes try and repeat. In the new games it is always clear what you have to do and sometimes they are even blatantly obvious by telling you something like "you cannot open this door yet, you need to find a rope for your bow first!".
Uh, the whole game wasn't QuickTime events!!!!! Just during cutscenes. There's shootouts and stuff...
I was born in 1995 and I played every Tomb Raider game. The older ones were more challenging, interesting and brain-taxing, as well as adrenaline pumping when they needed to be. The 90s games gave you control over exploration and rewarded it accordingly. The current ones are fun but forgetable.
I feel like you should do a full playthrough series on the older games and THEN have them play the newer ones. Those would be reactions I'd actually like to see
I'd like to see them play TR3. They'd be ready to rip their hair out...
Make the whole series of tombrider gameplay
this could have been better if went from the original to the remake of the original to the modern day version.
Where was the "stick the butler in the fridge" mini game we all played but wont admit to 😂
From HARD MODE (TR1) to TUTORIAL MODE (ROTR)
The original tomb raider was my all time favorite!!
Donna Farias ahh it's like no one understand why tho
Like wtf . New tr u beat it in one day . For 80 bucks u serious
we need more tomb raider gameplay
Omg! That nostalgia :)) I have the first game on a Sega Saturn and maaaaan I miss the good old days growing up with it - watching while my Dad used to play! ♡
Retro games give me the feels! - Marc, FBE Producer
I still think Tomb Raider 4 Last Revelation looks pretty good on PC because it's not pixelated like 1996 game.
you can play the other parts also with better graphics. there are some patches out there :)
Who cares about graphics yeah they are defined how real the game is but 1996 were a lot harder the 2016 one is also hard but that one is harder well I have both of them even the 2013 one because it has also excellent graphics.
Living Dead Paradox Looks damn good on the Ps1 and Dreamcast too
Oh my god! How do you get so good? Your words are just pure wisdom
am I the only one who's interested to play the 1996 version
ning nu no
I loved those original Tomb Raider games. Definitely play them sometime! They took me weeks to finish because there were a lot of puzzles and sequences where things had to be timed just right. It was hard but really worth it.
Played it at release. Many good years on that game. Especially part 2.
Looks a lot less scary and tense
ning nu yes.
Nice to see the first Tomb Raider Game again :D hahaha
Wish you guys would play Tomb Raider as a "Let's Play" !
old one is more scary and has better musical score also better backstory.
Ah yes, those pixels always scared me as well.
scary through atmosphere, music, and general creepiness. New ones, well there is no risk of dying becus you just respawn where you died really. Also no creepy or atmospheric areas (besides flooded archives)
@Niki R it's nostalgia bro, I played original tomb raider. it took me maybe one week to finish it. I was struggling with Tomb Raider 2013 month and a half. First games wre only shooting and progressing without backstory. While in these new ones we have character arch and amazing story, especially 2013 and rise. And I watched tr 2 from 1997, these new ones have much better ambient too. And I found puzzles very challenging in reboot, but there are stiil some things from original. for example ending of 2013 tomb raider with dual pistols and plotline is very similiar. but after all, it's just my opinion bro. Do what you want...
@The Amazing World Games The first one was not very difficult. Others were more difficult I think but I hadn't progressed much when I was a kid. I didn't own all of them either.
The first one actually had a good story, not very detailed ofc.
TR2 was made different on purpose because it came out just 1 year after the first one. It had many more human enemies. And artistically it is not as good.
I played the 2013 one a little, the qtes make me feel dumber. Press right and left or E repeatedly etc., and on PCs they don't even work as good as they should.
I don't believe it is notstalgia.
Memories :'( happy to see one of my favorite games made it to this generation even if it' different now.
FINALLY A GAME THAT I KNOW 😭💖💞💘💝💕💗💓💞💖💘💝💗💕💓
I played the first game on PS1, it was great for its day.
Kyara Mapley exactly
Have them play the 2013 Tomb Raider
Old Tomb Raider > new Tomb Raider
shame they played the crippled version of it with warpy psx graphics and pixelation ,they should of used the PC version least it runs in HD
girlsdrinkfeck I'm used to the ps1 versions, and I like using the controller but I find that the pc versions control better and look tons better even though the pc is missing some effects like TR2 wavy inventory or angel of dakness blood and snow effects
New tomb raider> Old tomb raider
Original tomb radier wasnt released on PC. you're thinking of the re-release which is by definition not "original"
They're spoiled. The graphics for Tomb Raider for that time was amazing. Everything has it's season.
if you've grown up in an era of photorealistic graphics I doubt you'd be able to appreciate first TR's graphics yourself... spoiled are people who used to play first TR with joy but now can't because of how good Rise of the Tomb Raider looks like.
Jair I think exemplifies the modern game industry when she talked at the end about how she's not a gamer but she could see herself getting into Rise of the Tomb Raider. In case you didn't notice, that entire opening segment they played through had almost no actual GAMEPLAY, just lots of spectacle, quick time events, and pushing the control stick to move down the linear path in front of them. They didn't need to look around to work out where to go and none of them died because all they ever had to do to avoid failure was notice the "Press square" prompt on the screen and do so.
MrVader75 Not true. We didn't miss out. We seen it appear out of nowhere. It was the best graphics of it time with everything in 64bit game system or 32bit. This was on a CD which was groundbreaking and amazing. Playing games back then was helluva harder compared to today's game. I love to see technology grows however you can't like the Tomb Raider of today if you can't respect the tomb raider of yesterday.
First ps1 game i ever played.loved doing handstands when i climbed up and diving into the water XD
The original was more like a video game and the new one looks like a cool entertaining set piece that allows you to have some control over what’s going on. Games are a whole different animal now.
good grief i still have and play my original tomb raider series (on my PS1) i wish the kids had talked about them more or compared them more. it felt cut off.
PLEASE CONTINUE WITH THIS GAME I WANNA SEE MOREEEEEE

Please react to Spooky from Lilo & Stitch? He is a shapeshifting alien experiment created to scare his victims by turning into their worst fears. For me, he is much more than a "favorite character"
A few years ago I was going through some difficult moments in my life. During these times I always felt anxious or sad. One day, I was just looking at videos on youtube to possibly take my mind off everything for a while when an episode of Lilo & Stitch the Series. The title of the episode was Spooky. This was my very first time watching this episode. The episode featured a shapeshifting alien named Spooky. As I watched the episode I felt very drawn to Spooky. I was very fascinated by his shapeshifting ability, but it was something deeper. When I got the chance I would rewatch the episode. Each time I watched it I felt the same draw to Spooky as I did the first time. I soon realized what it was. The moral of the episode was facing your fears. While Lilo and Stitch are the stars of the show, I feel that Spooky played a big part in teaching this lesson. Spooky, in thought, helped me through difficult times and challenges. One time I was involved in a major event. I decided to watch Spooky's episode the night before for good luck. During the event I felt an amount of confidence that I've never felt before. The event went perfectly that day. I knew that the success was because of the hard work of myself and the others involved with the event but in my personal way I credited Spooky for boosting my confidence. I know Spooky isn't an actual person but he's made a strong, powerful impact on my life. I would love for you to react to Spooky. I don't expect the reactors to develop the same connection with Spooky that I did, I just think it would be interesting to see what they would think of him. This would be much more than a simple reaction to me.
Honestly, I think they hit the right balance of old vs. new look, old-school style with new graphics with Tomb Raider: Legend through TR: Underground. I'm not wild about "Katniss Croft".
Gary C. Ups. There he said it
people barely pressed any buttons with the modern one
QTEs and Tutorials every where
Kinda the same for a lot of triple A games nowadays :\
that's just the cinematic intro tho, the rest of the game is packed with action and puzzles
@@20DX00 you haven’t played many games then if you think it’s mostly qtes
Original tomb raider gives you control of the exploration, new tomb raider is like it's on rails in comparison. No wonder "non gamers" feel like they can play lol!
Fully agree. There's a lot of quick time events. QTE's are a poor substitute for actual gameplay.
Wow, so cool. You’re an original Tomb Raider fan shitting on people who like the new ones. Just shut up and let people enjoy what they want.
Bunch of smartasses who think they r better than everybody in the world.
When exactly rise of tomb raider didnt give u control of exploration????
Its a fucking 15 minutes of gameplay...that too just a beginning.
Play entire game first to know how much exploration there is in a game and then go on internet to be a smartass.
ROTR is an amazing game but just like every other thing there is no pleasing some dumbasses on internet.
Whole game is like quick time events.....MY ASS.
You have a very bad taste you know?
"Control of exploration" that's funny cause the control is so awful that you are bumping into everything.
Look at me spamming square I just killed a t-Rex
Such complex gameplay.
Nostalgictards at its finest, next thing, you will tell me that ocarina of time is the best Zelda.
