Gotta say, as somebody who mains non Force-user classes, I can sort of understand why he did it. It never ends well when regular folks get dragged into Sith affairs - being pitted between two Sith is probably a worst nightmare scenario. He was just trying to make the best of a shit situation.
@Patrick Cossack Oh, that's a certainty. He always kept Quinn on a tight leash because of what happened with Moff Broysc. Quinn was assigned to us by Baras from the very beginning. I believe... to keep a close eye on SW. With SW being his strongest apprentice, without a doubt- he would put tabs on us and prepare for when we get strong enough to have our own powerbase. Self preservation. Once an apprentice has outlived their usefulness and becomes a rival, you must prepare for them to retaliate. It's literally part of being Sith. It's what I would do. I'm just more offended that Quinn thought a couple of droids would kill me. I mean, we take on ENTIRE armies. A couple of droids aren't shit to SW. He should have sent a shit ton of sith assassins or sent SW into a trap immediatly like Thanaton did. Of course, after the aquisition of Jaesa. That for me would be a deal breaker.
Well this situation is a no brainer for Quinn. He made the wrong choice though. It’s even worse with an in progress romance where you can break up with him, beat him, and then force choke him to near death. I think that’s called an unforgivable betrayal.
The first time I played this, I was totally surprised for a number of reasons. One, I expected it would be Jaesa that would betray me somewhere along the road, due to the old apprentice kills the master thing, nope. Two, one of Malavai's dislikes is betrayal , so I never thought I would have to worry about him turning against me, dead wrong. Three, there was never anything this interesting with other companions on other classes, so I didn't think that I'd really be fighting any of them, well maybe there was a few others, but if I give names I'd spoil someone :P. There are more reason I could list, but I doubt it would make much of a difference. Anyhow, I for one enjoyed this quest, and Malavai is still one of my top favorite companions.
technically, he never did betray you. He just stayed loyal to baras, who also assigned him to you( I like to believe baras assigned him to keep an eye on you in secret)
lol when the main char said "your defying the emperor himself" it reminded me of a picture i found on google of a space marine owning stormtroopers with the caption "Your Emperor is False!"
Honestly probably the only reason they don't let you kill him is because people that played the beta and killed him realized that it caused problems because it removed there healer companion and people started complaining so the developers took out the option.
Quinn claims he's been observing her strenghts and weaknesses the whole time, and he brought only two pitiful little droids? I thought he would be smarter than that :D
Am i the only one here who actually fully forgives Quinn? From the get-go any authority i had over him was granted to me by Baras when he transferred him. I was shocked and saddened that he chose Baras over me, but i can hardly fault him for acting out of loyalty to his master. You can tell this was not an easy decision for him to make, considering his words and tone. Betrayal from conflicting loyalties is more forgivable to me than betrayal for personal interest, like what that asshole Baras did. Honestly i was more insulted that he thought 2 measly droids was enough to take me down.
I never understood why Baras does turn on you. Because I was really not interested in doing that at all, nor did I ever indicate that I would do that. So for me I am frustrated by Baras turning on you.
You are not the only one. While I do not take kindly towards betrayal I saw the truth of his circumstances. It is as you say he didn't do it out of personal interest necessarily but out of conflicting loyalties, was it out of personal interests I would have killed him without a doubt. But seeing as it was out of conflicting loyalties I forgave him, mostly because he actually understood loyalty to a certain point that it was tearing him apart, which is more than I can say for many others in the Empire.
Once a upon a time, you actually had the option to kill off certain companions. They changed it because there were too many tickets complaining that people accidently killed off their companions.

That hermit on Voss warned me about someone of my own planning to betray me. I really wanted to use Jaesa's power on the crew the moment I received that warning.
Quinn's betrayal seems shortsighted and very overconfident in retrospect. Sure, he's had a chance to study your fighting style, but between the player and Baras, only the player is in a position to actually kill Quinn. And Baras wouldn't take kindly to betrayal, but absolute loyalty is no guarantee that you'll be safe from him, either. I mean, Quinn sees that with his own eyes when Baras betrays the player.

Since I knew this would happen, when Quinn ask what is next after you become lord, I had my Sith Warrior directly tell him we were going after Baras. It made Baras sudden betrayal feel very legitimate, because he essentially knew without a doubt I would have betrayed him first if I had the chance.
My first play-through of this game was with a Sith Warrior, I went full dark side all the way and it bothered me to no end that the game gave you no option to kill Quinn, or at the very least kick him off the ship. Considering how he betrays you, it makes zero sense that your character would ever trust him again. And If you are alone with him on the mission you have no option to reveal his betrayal to the rest of the crew.

Because they are edgelords and think that companions are mindless puppets that are supposed to obediently follow you. His "betrayal" can have many interpretations and one of them is even that, that he purposefully made this droids weak cause he didn't want to actually kill the SW
@@Hjalmar_an_Craite Doubtful.. Knowing Quinn he wouldn´t do that.. Loyalty was all to him, but the problem is that his loyalty was always with Baras,, The problem is in calculations, how can you truly "calculate" someones strength and weaknesses? He was wrapped up in his own calculations forgetting there were things far outside his control.. Like the immense strength in the force of the character.. That power took the likes of Baras off-guard so obviously it does the same to some fool like Quinn. And why do so many want to kill him? Apart from a general Sith idea that betrayal is always punishable by death.. I mean he basically threw you under the bus against 2 droids specifically programmed by him to kill you.. If you were laying wounded on the ground he would have killed you.. And If he really didn't want to betray you, then why walk you in that trap in the first place? Scared of Baras? He of all should know how terrrified Baras was because of the strength of his apprentice.. So he was close to the one person whom he knew could protect him from his wroth.. And upon defeat he himself said that he expects no mercy, because it is certainly out of character for most Sith to grant mercy to anyone.. Especially a traitor.. Let alone showing mercy and even being allowing him back in your service pretending it never happened.. That is a stunt you might see a Jedi pull but not from the large majority of Sith.. Especially those very "dark" in the force..
I have to say, this scene doesn't work. I mean Quinn betrays the Sith Warrior, taunts the Warrior, and tries to kill the Warrior. I mean even if the Warrior decides to not kill him, just think what type of an"accident" resulting in Quinn going through an airlock that Vette and Pierce would arrange. Imagine Broonmark tearing Quinn up in his quarters. Oh, just imagine what Dark Side Jaesa would do to him.......slow flaying alive with a lightsaber might be the mildest option.
"If you will permit me to stay in your charge, my dedication to you will never come into question again." "... Unless, y'know, the new Empress is hot. Then Imma blow you up if she asks."
LOL I actually went to Corellia first to see for myself if there was a blockade and/or space battle, because last time I did a flashpoint like that it was dreadfully long and boring and hoped to skip it. You can land on Corellia without trouble, so I knew it had to be a trap, there's always a trap in SW xD But the game doesn't let you continue without this. I got the golden Ru fella warn about betrayal, I was so sure it was either LS Jaesa or Quinn. Or both, since shouldn't Jaesa have had felt Baras's presence, even if Quinn had utmost confidence in doing the right thing, ending a mutiny against Baras?
Love or hate him he just makes the story better, like Kaliyo. And at the very end of the day, he's just another victim of Baras. If the Wrath betrays the Empire on Iokath, he will plea switch sides to stand with you. He's a great character that is not boring.
When I got to this part of the game i was really hoping to drive my lightsaber through his heart for the betrayal was actually doing a Darth Revan themed character and thought force choking Quinn would lead to him being killed but at least the expansion will allow us to kill him. I'm thinking acting all friendly until he's then impaled through the chest
Weird, i had different dialouge when i confronted quinn on my own. Instead of the ones shown, i got an option to say "how predictable (or something like that)" in a cocky form. i wonder why?
I was like shit bro we were buddies on balmorra and shit. We were so close even though when I got jaesa you were nothing but remember the balmoral days man!
Every time I watch old videos of SWTOR I get sucked back into a month of two of playing the game. Might not be a great MMO, but at least some of the stories really were worth it. Sure they really stumbled with the first few xpacs (can hardly look at what they did to Revan T_T, I R Disappoint) before they really hit their stride again with the whole eternal throne arc.
honestly i've put a lot of thought into quinn's betrayal, it makes sense and is generally very tragic. my first playthrough was a female sith warrior that romanced him, so this definitely caught me off guard. the hints are there quinn tries to leave your crew under the guise of his attachment to you, but i believe the main reason he wants to leave the crew is plausible deniability "lord baras, she reassigned me, there's not much i can do" kinda situation. then again he seems confident, happy in his decision to betray the sith warrior, even jaesa says that she senses nothing but confidence in him, so am i wrong? did he just commit to it to save his own hide? hinestly its confusing, but i'd say he doesn't deserve death for it, but he certainly deserves to be removed from the crew and throne into an imperial prison, i'm far more concerned with his reactions to pierce and vette personally, its one thing defying a sith who can clearly defend herself, but vette and pierce? i doubt either of them would be able to stand against baras. his betrayal would've been a lot weaker if he just offered EVERYONE a free pass to leave the warrior, quinn never liked vette and certainly always hated pierce. overall its an incredible tragedy and the writers did incredibly with this, especially since it feels like the "official" path is bringing quinn as your companion since the way quinn incapacitates the other companions doesn't make a ton of sense. honestly i'd love it if lucasfilm made a "tales of the old republic series" and included some moments from kotor, the mandalorian wars, kotor 2 and swtor. 2 episodes for each character that is chosen
"this action is fully calculated.." *stands IN FRONT of the death machines, who are aimed to kill the person that's right in FRONT of him, who is also easily capable of deflecting blaster fire and the like.*
I love Daek Jaesa. I knew in Voss when the dude said one of my crew would betray me it was Quinn. From the first few interactions I got the sense dude was a spy.
He was an Imperial and a Soldier a long time before he met you though remember that it's as part of his being as breathing now it's why he stuck with it despite him going no where in it for years.
I see that Bioware doesn't understand a couple things. Just because someone walks faster or his head glows, he won't be more threathening. A slow move yellow eyes and a show of power would've been better.
I mean it shouldn't have been a surprise he worked for baras himself and probably help set you up to get blown to bits during the third chapter. I just smacked his ass around for the sheer enjoyment of it then I made him work for me when the final confrontation came about.
Thank the Force for the "Fractured Alliances" storyline... (SPOILER) Allows the righting of thie biggest wrong in the Warrior storyline - not being allowed to kill Quinn on the spot.
I am still really salty about this, but I have to say it made the romance with him all the more interesting and dramatic. Malavai was one of my most favorite companions, across the board (still kind of it, despite this).
Meajuring his power, like he saw him fight droids many times, so for exemple: 1 droid dies easy, 2 droids give a hard fight but still victory so: D = Victory D+D = Victory D+D+M = Loss
+KeybladeWielderXV Oh I hope so or at least once the crew is back together we can finally have that talk with crew about the betrayal. Then...I will chuck him out of a airlock.
I was so into this story. Up to this point, everyone who ever had the nerve to give me advice, I killed. But whenever Quinn had something to say I always listened and it turned out well. Even when Pierce asked to be my captain instead of Quinn I turned him down. Needless to say, at this point i was like DA FUCKK!. That God for the Rakqoul Plague, and now I have a zombie quinn. Ungrateful bastard.
The yakuza supposedly cut the fingers off of failures/traitors. I would have taken a page from their book and removed both his arms for his betrayal instead of forgetting that it had happened.
I'd have liked to see Light Jaesa and Collared Vette, though I had Light Jaesa and for some reason no dialogue came up so I left the convo and put her away, assuming it was meant for me and Quinn alone. :/

@@Hjalmar_an_Craite
Doubtful..
HypertronDE i hate traitors
SHEER AND UTTER WEAKNESS, torture then burn what's left of him.
"If you will permit me to stay in your charge, my dedication to you will never come into question again."
Or both, since shouldn't Jaesa have had felt Baras's presence, even if Quinn had utmost confidence in doing the right thing, ending a mutiny against Baras?
does anyone else feel like leaving him with a shock caller due to the loyalty dmg he caused on himself
Love or hate him he just makes the story better, like Kaliyo. And at the very end of the day, he's just another victim of Baras. If the Wrath betrays the Empire on Iokath, he will plea switch sides to stand with you. He's a great character that is not boring.
I always think the day i didn't kill quinn, wish i could go back in time
When I got to this part of the game i was really hoping to drive my lightsaber through his heart for the betrayal was actually doing a Darth Revan themed character and thought force choking Quinn would lead to him being killed but at least the expansion will allow us to kill him. I'm thinking acting all friendly until he's then impaled through the chest
Thanks, Qiola. Also, I enjoyed the editing you did there.
"charming to the last" well hello there Tarkin
What, no lightside Jaesa? Not really all the companions if you don't have the true Jaesa dialogue.
Ewww... light side Jessa. No thank you.
Mr. Wednesday gay
@@Mrwednesday84 Id rather have the light Jaesa instead of the pathetic aggro bitch.
@@silviogrijalva8801 light side is gay.
@@Mediados I would rather have a real woman that that light side bitch. The light side disgusts me.
Weird, i had different dialouge when i confronted quinn on my own. Instead of the ones shown, i got an option to say "how predictable (or something like that)" in a cocky form. i wonder why?
It depends on whether you're light or dark, and your interaction with Quinn during his story arc.
If they decide to kill their healing companion they shouldnt whine lol
you get the chance to flirt with him and say "And here I thought you loved me" but he still does the traitor thing.
meh.. i spared and forgave him.... barras was an asshole who used people and disgarded them.. so i let it slide
you just tried to kill me, but it's cool, come on back to the ship and we'll forget all this ever happened.
weak.
Yeeeessssss! thank you for doing the choke option, I so wanted to kill him afterwards. This was a great compilation/edit too, nice work
I cried when this happened, he was my favorite character, and when anakins theme played, it got me more sad
I thought it was Order 66 theme?
@@tanoshiofm3852 it's part of the anakin dark deeds theme
@@Gozud Still I knew I heard that theme somewhere.
@@tanoshiofm3852 the track also played when obi wan was talking to padme and he told her "anakin is the father isn't he? I'm so sorry"
Actually I looked it up and the theme is Anakin's Betrayal.
honestly i've put a lot of thought into quinn's betrayal, it makes sense and is generally very tragic. my first playthrough was a female sith warrior that romanced him, so this definitely caught me off guard.
the hints are there quinn tries to leave your crew under the guise of his attachment to you, but i believe the main reason he wants to leave the crew is plausible deniability
"lord baras, she reassigned me, there's not much i can do" kinda situation.
then again he seems confident, happy in his decision to betray the sith warrior, even jaesa says that she senses nothing but confidence in him, so am i wrong? did he just commit to it to save his own hide?
hinestly its confusing, but i'd say he doesn't deserve death for it, but he certainly deserves to be removed from the crew and throne into an imperial prison, i'm far more concerned with his reactions to pierce and vette personally, its one thing defying a sith who can clearly defend herself, but vette and pierce? i doubt either of them would be able to stand against baras.
his betrayal would've been a lot weaker if he just offered EVERYONE a free pass to leave the warrior, quinn never liked vette and certainly always hated pierce.
overall its an incredible tragedy and the writers did incredibly with this, especially since it feels like the "official" path is bringing quinn as your companion since the way quinn incapacitates the other companions doesn't make a ton of sense.
honestly i'd love it if lucasfilm made a "tales of the old republic series" and included some moments from kotor, the mandalorian wars, kotor 2 and swtor. 2 episodes for each character that is chosen
Pierce my Bro 🤝💪🏻 And Bro-onmark too of course!
strange, I was able to use vette in the fight ._.
And this was the moment that sealed Quinn's fate. Easy choice of action with him on Iokath.
Then you didnt even try to understand him. Killing him is the greatest waste you can do.
"this action is fully calculated.."
*stands IN FRONT of the death machines, who are aimed to kill the person that's right in FRONT of him, who is also easily capable of deflecting blaster fire and the like.*
I love Daek Jaesa. I knew in Voss when the dude said one of my crew would betray me it was Quinn. From the first few interactions I got the sense dude was a spy.
Laughed so hard at the bit where Jaesa just collapses to the ground, so goofy
I’m starting to think Quinn doesn’t like having his calculations disrupted.
He was an Imperial and a Soldier a long time before he met you though remember that it's as part of his being as breathing now it's why he stuck with it despite him going no where in it for years.
Quinn is my fave healing comp.
Ummmmm why didn’t he use that tranquilizer shockwave on the with warrior??
Thank the Force for the "Fractured Alliances" storyline...
(SPOILER)
Allows the righting of thie biggest wrong in the Warrior storyline - not being allowed to kill Quinn on the spot.
What, no light side Jess and shock collar vett? Lol
I am still really salty about this, but I have to say it made the romance with him all the more interesting and dramatic. Malavai was one of my most favorite companions, across the board (still kind of it, despite this).
Thanks for this video :) always had only jaesa with me at this point
I accidentally picked the light side choice now i wanna restart the mission just to choke quinn but i cant
I'm so glad it helped! I love reading fics btw, can I have a link? :)
There is a difference in one set of conversation choices between male and female.
Love the song at the beginning also for u people who don't know it's called it's Anakins Dark Deeds
Yeah, after this part of the quest, I'll be using the bot afterwards. Traitorous shit, I'd make him wear a Slave bikinni if I could as an insult.
Its always cracked me up with the game scaling he talks up these droids and its just two lil silver bots
So I wonder what he says if you dont remove Vettes shock collar....may need to retry this again just to see lol.
With Quinn commenting on removing the shock collar from Vette, does that mean that there’s a different line if you never remove it?
Thanks for the upload.
thing is why Jaesa didn't use her power, but then again her power is too broken
Wonder what he'd say if HK-51 was there.
I cried when this happened in my playthrough. I was so hurt...
GUYS !!! I died fighting against this guy and can't go back where the droid are what can I do !!! :(
You know I think if he was born during the galactic civil war he would be Vader’s personal officer.
Unlike the you have failed me people.
I loved punishing him Darth Vader style by crushing his throat with the force and stopping before killing him
What kinds of equations does he have to perform? Treachery isn't a flipping math problem.
+recursor94 x=betrayal
Meajuring his power, like he saw him fight droids many times, so for exemple: 1 droid dies easy, 2 droids give a hard fight but still victory so:
D = Victory
D+D = Victory
D+D+M = Loss
@iris711the TH-16A Master Medic Suit & Gloves (bought on GTN), pants and boots are formal wear from Kaas cantina (social rank 1 required).
Pity... He was so handsome. How are you able to select all the options? I didn't think it was possible to try different options
You can't select different options, yes. I was hitting escape and then merging all in one vid.
Well, we have fallen empire now. I wonder if we can end Quinn this time...
+KeybladeWielderXV Oh I hope so or at least once the crew is back together we can finally have that talk with crew about the betrayal. Then...I will chuck him out of a airlock.
This is terrific :D Thanks so much for making it. I've been wondering about all the dialogue choices myself. Truly Excellent, thanks alot.
I would have taken a page from their book and removed both his arms for his betrayal instead of forgetting that it had happened.
what's sad is this part in the game was 10 times harder than fighting Darth Baras at least Quinn killed me once
how did you return in the room? After he killed me I respawned at the med center at the room was locked from quinn's side
Carstea Florentin I had the same thing happen to me I think I reset the instance at the fleet then went back
How exactly do you reset it?
+Carstea Florentin (floricel_112) I think I just went back to the fleet and went back to Quinns ship. did you try that?
+Steve C I'll try when I get home. Since I couldn't continue the normal story, I just went on to corellia to do the planetary mission
I'd have liked to see Light Jaesa and Collared Vette, though I had Light Jaesa and for some reason no dialogue came up so I left the convo and put her away, assuming it was meant for me and Quinn alone. :/
there had better be another heals comp...since as a tank i rely on my medic comps whole heartedly
