WILL WE EVER SEE THE DOMINANCE FROM THESE TWO ARMS EVER AGAIN? Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter created an elite 1-2 punch for Vanderbilt and after a botched draft in 2021 are back in the same organization. We know the upside of both players but the biggest question is will we ever see what we saw at Vandy?

“Late father” means that his father is dead. Al is not dead lol
im aware lol simple mistake as I knew Al was alive all along lol
@@hustleoutthebox lol, I get it. I enjoyed the videos. Keep doing what you do
Not sure where you got Kumar’s freshman stats (shown at 1:30 mark)from but they are wrong. His season ERA was 3.25 which includes postseason so if he was so dominant in the postseason how did his era increase as compared to the regular season? Not to mention his SEC only ERA as a freshman was north of 4.00
it’s very important to read if you look at the 1:30 mark the box with his stats CLEARLY says regular season.
@@hustleoutthebox They are still wrong. He went 6-4 with a 4.03 ERA in 10 starts (26 ER in 58 IP) in SEC play. Before SEC play he made 1 start (1-1/3 IP with 5 ER) and 7 1/3 IPs with 1 ER out of the pen. Add all that up and you get 66-2/3 IP and 32 ER. Do the math and you get an ERA of 4.32, which is higher than 2.17. Just admit you made a mistake.
Gerrit Cole and Trevor Bauer?
what about them? Bauer had 1 elite year rest of their seasons at UCLA were mid.
@@hustleoutthebox I was just pointing them out. I’m a South Carolina fan and I remember seeing them in the World Series and thought for sure they would stop the momentum we had bc they were lights out.
they punched out hitters with the best of them for sure, definitely up there!@@kensmoak3628
Now you all know MLB minor league it’s way different and more difficult than college
absolutely
Never heard of the rice trio in the mid 2000s
what trio is that?
@@hustleoutthebox Jeff Niemann, Phil Humber, Wade Townsend
All 3 were top 10 picks the same year
As a Rangers fan I hope that at least one of these two pans out. It would really suck if neither ever did given all the potential talent they have displayed.
While it would suck they also have two more potential high end starters in Porter and White if he can get his velocity back
The Rangers will be lucky if any of them pan out, the Rangers are awful at developing pitching and pitching prospects are high risk to begin with
agree
Thank goodness we bought a rotation. But ya, hopefully, one of the prospects develops.
Great video
appreciate you
It's not looking good for Jack at the moment
Why did he say his late father? Al Leiter is alive and well lmao
lmao I know my bad I was aware he was alive lol just used the wrong term
I'm a lifelong fan of the Rangers so humor me as I continue to be on a WS high. Leiter looked good after returning from being shutdown mid-late summer. His stuff plays and his makeup isn't in question. Rocker looked very good prior to having TSJ. I like to imagine a world where these two figure it out and are in the rotation by 2025(Rocker on limited innings until 26). This happens in a world where Jung and Carter just keep growing and Langford is better than either of them. That level of youth/talent with the established stars/vets we have? This world lets me keep this WS high going for a nice window of seasons.
if all pans out especially with some of the long shots like Leiter things can be really scary for Texas
@@hustleoutthebox - now imagine that about the time Rocker & Leiter are established in the rotation(say 2026) the kid with the loudest tools in their system, international signee Sebastian Walcott, comes up and hits. Oooof!
realistically when do you think these two hit the majors?
honestly might never happen at this pace
It's interesting that the Rangers managed to win a World Series without Leiter or Rocker. Who knows if they will ever pan out?
that’s the biggest question but if they do OMG
They don't need to.
Right now it doesn't look good but you never know.
It's interesting they were able to do it with 11 total starts from DeGroom and Scherzer.
@@jayballauer8353Rangers rotation is ancient and injury prone. While they could spend their way to more starters, a quality young starter or two out of the farm would actually be huge for the future of the Rangers rotation
At some point scouts are going to have to start valuing durability more in starting pitching prospects. There is only so much room on a roster, no team can field enough relievers with a starting rotation of guys who can’t go 5+ innings. I understand the game is evolving in such a manner that stuff>durability, but again, there’s only so many spots on the roster. It would be impossible to fill the bullpen with guys who all have elite stuff. Durable starting pitchers and relievers who can eat innings are sorely needed. And as we’ve seen with Rocker and Leiter, there isn’t a guarantee that having good stuff in college translates to the majors. If you need Tommy John before you even get to MLB, something went wrong.
They might not be rotation starters but I wouldn’t be surprised if these two become studs in the bullpen, Rocker as the next closer and leiter as long relief
I keep saying that especially for Leiter with the stuff he can slide right into the back end of the bullpen at this right that might happen just top picks are given a longer lease you know
Seems they're struggling so why suggest a dominant rotation?
the point of the video was to relive their dominance in Vandy and update you on their current situation and yes as we all can see their struggling but were just envisioning what things could be if they returned to their college form.
@@hustleouttheboxFair enough. Just think the title is a bit misleading.
The late Al Leiter? Both him and Wade Boggs??? So sad
Al is alive i made a simple mistake.
how is it that these pitchers suddenly forget how to pitch when they get drafted ...
great question
I guess that's because once with the pro fastballs in the middle are punished most of the time. Thus BB
Love these two and its crazy cause a few years earlier.. Vandy had Walker Buehler and Carson Fulmer. Second name might not catch some peoples ear but that dude was an absolute unit in 14 and 15. Great pitching history in Nashville.
Former White Sox great Carson Fulmer
those two dominated as well great point
Why did you say late father ?? Al Leiter is not dead 😂😂😂😂
Jack's dad is a good dude. He lived near a hotel I worked at in Summit nj and would come in and let everyone wear his world series ring. Al was cool with people taking pics and nice to everyone.
awesome 💪🏼
My goodness! Jack & Kumar would be proud listening to this! Excellent voice! Great video! So many facts/stats
Wow, thank you! Really appreciate it💪🏼
Leiter looked great down the stretch.
I wouldn't say great, but definitely showed some improvement.
Relatively speaking of course, never know what it's going to look like when a guy is coming off the dev. list. To come back with his fastball up a tick and much better command, that's great news. @@hustleoutthebox
Jack has been struggling horribly and rucker still has a ton to learn so i wouldn't count them into a mlb rotation yet. Hopefully they turn a corner.
Leiter actually looked pretty good at the end of the minor league season, rocker looked good as well before his injury
Yeah I agree point of video was to relive their vandy days and just assume they'd eventually live up to the hype
Rocker looked good pre injury. Leiter looks very meh.
And the NY Metropolitans stupidly gave up on Rocker after drafting him. BIG mistake…
if he pans out and returns to his Vandy form yes it will be a big mistake for sure.
@@hustleoutthebox Saw him a lot at Vandy. Reminded me of a young Bob Gibson. (Yes, I’m that old.) 😉
Rocker has closer stuff and can be fast tracked to that role once he recovers from TJ if thats what the Rangers want/need.
both him and Leiter!
@@hustleoutthebox i feel like Leiter more fits that role personally
You won only once now it's dynasty give me a 😮
Good combo in college, but I think the Trevor Bauer/Gerrit Cole combo at UCLA was the best.
Fair enough!
His "late father"? How'd you just kill Al Leiter?
dangggg my bad 😂 tbh i always thought that just meant his dad 💀
I heard that and was like wait, he didn't die did he? And quickly had to google lol
lol i was literally about to comment on that
Had me googling 😂
If these two can pan out the rangers very well could be a dynasty. Or they could be traded
absolutely it could be very scary if these 2 pan out + brock porter & Langford and Carter in the lineup everyday 🤯
I may not see them as aces in the making anymore(especially they are close to age-24 season and still fighting their way in double-a, and Rocker had TJ last year), but if they can even pan out as a middle rotation or solid bullpen guys, I would love to see them contribute for sure.
absolutely agree 100%
Okay well leiter needs to figure it out in AA before I think of him as an ace.
bro must not be familiar with the trevor bauer garrett cole 1-2 combo lmao blows this out the water they won the natty too
bro must be delusional. You mean Bauers 1 elite year? I mean i wouldn’t call ERA’s in the 3’s in college dominate.
@@hustleoutthebox bro what r u saying? u off meth or sum? garrett cole and trevor bauer dominated in 2013 winning the natty go watch some film young ah kid tf r u saying delusional
Do you rank them #1 or Cole and Bauer at UCLA as greatest 1-2 punch in college baseball?
very great point. Here's my option #1 Bauer could very well have been the most dominant college pitcher ever. But as far as the DUOS I just say Leiter and Kumar because they pitched in a more dominant conference 1 and 2 its just hard to judge based on a different era of baseball when Kumar and Leiter pitched players were much bigger and stronger if that makes sense.
Underrated channel
appreciate you💪🏼
Unfortunately the Rangers do not have a very good history of developing pitchers in the minors. I hope they both work out but given the injury history of Rocker and the lack of progression with Leiter, it looks like 2 more pitchers that might not develop in their system. Porter is still a few years away as well from what I hear.
absolutely agree. But these kids are so talented something tells me they find a way to figure it out.
That was the old rangers. We now got the coaches for the job that could develop this yougins like no other, plus we got vet pitchers that will be perfect coaches to them.
Rockers TJ surgery will either fix him or break him
Cole Regans immediately comes to mind. How did the royals turn him to an ace immediately? Rangers couldn't unlock his potential. He started throwing a new slider after the trade for Aroldis Chapman.
@@the_allshow6845the rangers still have the same minor league people in place. It’s not changing.
What’s with the Rangers and picking up injured Mets pitchers lately?
good point.
Looks like both these picks are bust. Leiter can’t get anyone out and rocker is often injured and already had tommy John this season so he’s out for at least 2 years. Never draft college pitchers. The managers don’t take care of the kids. Rocker should of never thrown 130 pitches.
I always listen to my gut last year during the post season i told my dad the rangers are gonna be good next year and they went to win the world series my gut has a good feeling about rocker anytime i see him in a game, or a video my gut keeps saying hes gonna be good
i can understand that feeling. Having talent with such high hopes pan out is good for baseball so i’m hoping your right!
maybe it was just heartburn
not judging or anything but at the 5 minute mark you talked about vanderbilt vs nc state. the phone call to tim corbin wasnt true because they ended up playing the game but nc state had 9 players (due to most of them having c19)
hey appreciate the comment yes you are right to a certain extend. The game your speaking of was game 1 of that two game set to go to the final. The final decided game was a no contest. So yes what I said was true.
Lets not forget Ryan Garcia from UCLA he is a dawg and can make a huge impact.
🔥🔥🔥
🔥🔥🔥
Just shows that success in college ball does not necessarily guarantee success in the majors/minors. Would be nice if these guys would pan out for the Rangers but only time will tell.
agree 100%
Oh God here we go. Every team that wins a championship is supposed to become a dynasty now ? SMH. First it was Houston they proved to be a bust. Dodgers couldn’t win a title to save their lives. Atlanta is best regular season team. Now the Rangers ? This is like calling every athlete the “GOAT”. Congrats to Texas on their title victory but can we pump the breaks on the dynasty talk. Winning records and postseason appearances isn’t what makes a team a dynasty. Winning at least 3 championships in a decades time is the only thing that creates dynasty’s.
I hate houston but they are a dynasty. 6 straight years in the alcs with 2 championships.
If the Rangers somehow pull off Ohatani then a dynasty could very well be in the making
@@reybat4969 you can lie to yourself all you want but we both know Houston was cheating baseball from 2017-2019. So their 2017 World Series title is null and void. It doesn’t count. Of course the MLB is going to put it in the record books it’s bad for the league to have a cheating scandal as bad as Houston had one. As far as the fans go I can guarantee you most of them won’t count the 2017 title. Therefore they have 1 title. 1 title in 6 appearances is an embarrassment not a dynasty.
In the Rangers' case it's because they are so young everywhere. Carter, Langford, Heim and Jung will be a dominant core for years. Seager and Garcia are only 30. Their core is cheap which will allow them to fill out the rest of the team. The Rangers will win another two Series in the next 3-4 years.
@@MichaelCochran21 Astros thought that too in 2017. Got 1 to show for it plus they were cheating in 2017.
