THE SOCIAL NETWORK, directed by David Fincher, is the stunning tale of a new breed of cultural insurgent: a punk genius who sparked a revolution and changed the face of human interaction for a generation, and perhaps forever. Shot through with emotional brutality and unexpected humor, this superbly crafted film chronicles the formation of Facebook and the battles over ownership that followed upon the website’s unfathomable success. With a complex, incisive screenplay by Aaron Sorkin and a brilliant cast including Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield and Justin Timberlake, THE SOCIAL NETWORK bears witness to the birth of an idea that rewove the fabric of society even as it unraveled the friendship of its creators. Nominated for 8 Academy Awards®, including Best Picture (2010).

_You don’t get to 500 million friends without making a few enemies_
best tagline ever
It's great, but I prefer "In space no one can hear you scream".

Really? I was just thinking how irritating thus trailer is
Something that blew my mind that I didn’t notice until the 4th time I watched the movie: the only 2 times Mark spoke to Eduardo as an actual friend were the 2 times he needed his signature.
This makes me sad
Maybe that's a spoiler to his behaviour.
@@malvika3758 tragic. mark resented eduardos help almost as much as the winklevosses, tho eduardo was a real friend
@@drivingintothedesertuntilt3202 it’s because objectively he was of no use and hadn’t been of any use. When you’re living, breathing, and eating your creation, and it shows serious potential, you naturally start noticing deadweight, it only takes a good businessman from there to cut it. Based on the movie’s framing, anyone could’ve been in Eduardo’s place and it wouldn’t have mattered, but he was his only true friend.
@@kensingh9527 His use was supplying a shit ton of cash to a freshman without a guarantee it would become anything. Zuckerberg could have gone to any other person for the money but he went to him because he knew he would give it to him without having to jump through hoops for it.
Even though this trailer is brilliant, I could never have guessed how much of a masterpiece this movie was going to be.
Then hell open it manually
it's a copy of citizen kane pretty much
well 4 words: Aaron Sorkin, David Fincher
I found the film to be dull.
It was far better than it had any right to be
This trailer is piece of cinematic perfection. Just like the movie.
Agreed. All of David Fincher’s movies and trailers are.
That’s funny cause I still remember when this trailer first came out everyone was hating on it. It had way more dislikes than likes lol
Marchie Monroe do you know why. Just watched the movie, top 5 for me. Why would the trailer be hated on :(
Jay Saravia I guess cause at the time Facebook was still pretty new and just the fact that they made a movie about it so soon. People thought it was just a Hollywood cash grab. And I remember people were cringing at it cause it looked so over exaggerated like a music video. Even at the time I didn’t understand the hate, I thought it looked super good and then the movie ended being a complete masterpiece and even almost won best picture (which I still think it should’ve won)
😀
I'm addicted to this trailer. A piece of art. Gives me strange feelings, even though I've no apparent interest in Mark and Facebook.
facts I just watch it every now and then
Everything
Because it changed everything.
I know right, this trailer is a masterpiece. I can't help but watch it once every now and then. There is something very poetic and compelling about this.

"As for the charges, I believe I deserve some recognition from this board" - I still wonder. How can somebody be so condenscending at the age of 17. Brilliance of David Fincher.
He was 19 when that happened, but yes he was very condescending.
Fincher is brilliant, but Aaron Sorkin wrote the script.
I think he was older than 17. I mean he opens the movie at a bar.

I still don't know how Andrew Garfield got snubbed for Best Supporting Actor that year...
he definetely deserved a nomination.
Water Hazard This year he is gonna kill it!
Both him and Justin Timberlake were great.
Because he is handsome guy.
Water Hazard he ain't geeky enough
Andrew Garfield's best role by far. The only likeable character in the whole movie.
I loved his character, I felt so bad for him and it made me feel even more empathy knowing it was based on a real person.. They lowkey took advantage of him but I guess it paid off in the long run. 19,000 right now and 5 billion later
Danny Phantom Yeah. There's victims, then there's victims. If I walked away with 600 million I don't think I'd cry "I'm a victim!" Still, since Fuckerberg didn't sue the studio, I can only assume this is all true. Which puts Zuckerberg and his friends somewhere between pond-scum and regular land-scum.
Zucc's girlfriend from the beginning. She seemed like a real one, but his douchebaggery sunk that real quick.
Rashida jones character is pretty likeable
The "real" story is a lot more morally conflicted, keep in mind that Saverin was the primary source for the book the movie was based on, and it was part of a PR campaign on his part...
The more you look into it the more they both look like terrible people screwing each other over.
It is amazing how well this song's lyrics sum up the motivation for people using social media. Its as if Radiohead could see into the future. I have heard that the band hates playing this song but they should really be proud of writing such a timeless masterpiece that really combines the world's emotional health with current events and culture.
It's like the human condition never changes....
They hate playing it bcs it’s such a personal song they didn’t even want to include in their album (their manager advised them to and that’s how it ended up there) and during concerts it was like an expectation. Some people came literally only for this song and left right after it and it became so overplayed the band didn’t enjoy it anymore.
Who Is playing this Radiohead cover in the trailer?

This trailer, just like the film, is pure cinematic art. I think 2010 was a milestone for cinema, and this film led the way for how films are made today, truly defining this generation of film-making. David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin created not just one of my all time favourite films, but also a wonderful motion picture. One of the best films ever made.
Completely agree. Apparently David Fincher and Aaron Sorkin will be teaming up again for an adaption of a Steve Jobs biopic, so that should be something to look forward to.
I think it should be pointed out that this movie wouldn't nearly be as good without the character that out shined everyone, the soundtrack by trent reznor.
energeez Seriously....the soundtrack is a masterpiece of itself. I have it on repeat whenever I'm at work!
no. it didn't child
how can you even say something so ridiculous?
Everyone was laughing about the idea of a Facebook film until this trailer came out
Quentin Tarantino just named this film his favourite of the decade, I have to say I agree this film is an intellectual masterpiece from the jarring score that cuts the room like a knife to the many dialogue scenes where they purposefully explore surreal concepts that to a kid growing up in the technological revolution was literally mindblowing.
Interesting from start to finish the twists and turns of the story definetly make this a must watch, I promise it’ll make you feel nostalgic too for the early 2000s when the internet was less used as a tool for politics and war rather just for fun college dorm pranks between friends about which girls were the hottest at the university...
The escence of both the college world and the modernity world of our era is portrayed outsandingly good in the movie. Things that people of almost any generation can relate too and be moved by it. The girls, the power struggles, the friends overnights studying/partying, the cool groups everybody wanted to be in. Its all there. And everything in the frame of modernity and how everything I said remained the same but just through the internet. David Fincher is an absolute genius.
Seeing the old Facebook wall makes me want to cry.

Such a fantastic film. As I watch the trailers come out each year I still find myself coming back to this masterpiece. Definitely one of my favorite films.
This is far from masterpiece. This film is way too dramatic, and takes way too much liberties with reality.
I found myself hating Mark Zuckenberg, and his butt-buddy Sean. I was rooting for Eduardo, and Winklevoss brothers the entire time.
Turns out that Marlyn was wrong.
''You’re not an asshole, Mark. You’re just
trying so hard to be.''
For me he really WAS an asshole.
Well, that was your opinion. I personally thought it was great. And the acting and the characters are great. It was definitely one of my favorite movies.
Vorteksio3 3 months old, I know, but still :)
That was one of the great things about this film. It didn't give you all the answers, and it didn't have clear-cut "good guys" and "bad guys". The film in itself is designed to make you think. That's what makes it so different from most other films of today.
So it's not a bad thing that you were rooting for Eduardo and the Winklevi. It just so happens that you agreed with them.
Vorteksio3 I'm pretty sure you're supposed to root for Eduardo....
AlexTheTvGuy Too bad he got screwed over by Mark in the movie.
Jesse Eisenberg is a better Mark Zuckerberg than Mark Zuckerberg.
maybe because he is honest... unlike the real
This.... almost makes sense.
Any mods to slow down his speaking?
Um, no. Even if you dislike Mark Zuckerberg for being dishonest about certain things. He doesn’t act how Eisenberg played him. I’ve heard many film critics and people in general talk about his performance. It’s a great performance, and he played the character that was written for him. But much like the movie as a whole, it’s not impressionistic and isn’t that applicable to real life.
True
I remember seeing this trailer a few times in theaters during summer of 2010 with my friend. We were only 12 at the time, but this trailer heavily caught our attention by how well it was made(the creep cover song was a plus), and we ended up seeing it. Everything about this trailer gave me chills thinking about what the 2010s were going to unfold since we just entered a new decade at the time. Rewatching this trailer 11 years later, it still gives me chills
A rare scenario in which the trailer is a worthy contender of being just as stunning as the film
Fincher films have a habit of having wonderful trailers. TGWTDT's teaser is particularly notable for being directed by Fincher himself
Respect for the makers of this trailer, very briliant.
"the makers" is actually David Fincher himself, the director of the movie
Hmm, true, must have misread it...
Watched the movie two times last week, very inspirational.
fresh maker
Fresh goes better, (mentos freshness) fresh goes better with mentos fresh and full of life! Mentos, the, "fresh maker"
You got it right, no doubt ;]
This trailer goes much deeper than I realised... the first photo (girl looking over shoulder) is a recreation of an 1850 painting called 'Susannah and the Elders', which is based on a chapter of the Bible tackling objectification of women, which is also what the film does. Whoever put the trailer together is a genius.
that’s genius how did you figure it out though
How is that a recreation of that painting? You’re reaching....
Ay-dee AM It may have not been intentionally a recreation of that painting but maybe the makers of the trailer thought of it that way used it as the opening of the trailer which is genius in its own right
Really? That is just genius.

I always come back to this movie. There’s nothing like it. Every time I re watch it, there’s always something I noice that I didn’t the last time. It’s art. And the way its created is perfect.
Still one of the greatest trailers! Who ever edited this, i want to hire you!
I agree! Excellent trailer!
I don't see how, the trailer is not doing anything a trailer is supposed to do. editing is ok
Ditto! This and Inception had *great* trailers that still play in my mind and give me chills since I first saw them.
So true, I always come back to this trailer. I think the Vega Choir rendition of Creep suited the tone of the movie really well. Love this trailer.
It accomplishes the basic plot and challenges of the main character successfully, along with giving you a fair idea of how that character is, along with building up the intensity throughout the trailer exceptionally well. Too many trailers just kind of blandly lay out most of the plot with the exact same format as every other trailer.
Andrew Garfield portrayed the character brilliantly in this film. He is a great actor and I can't wait to see what else he achieves.

This, for me at least, will forever be the example of how a film with such an outright ridiculous premise can be turned into a modern magnum opus with a god-like screenplay, dialogue, acting, and direction. Truly, a cinematic spectacle
I remember seeing this trailer back in 2010 and being completely absorbed (and blindsided) by it, not knowing it was even a Fincher and Sorkin project. Then I saw the film and thought: wow..perfect trailer, perfect film. It completely holds up today and in retrospect should've won best picture for 2010.
David Fincher, FUCK YEAH!
Facebook is nothing compared to what comes next.
This simply is one of the best trailers in cinematic history. Simply mesmerizing.
Who else is for some weird fucking reason, seeing this trailer for the first time in 2023 after watching the social network like 40 times? This is so perfect
This trailer literally gives away the whole movie (in hindsight) but in such a rapid pace that it, after a single viewing, leaves the viewer with a sensory overload in a weird way and a longing of nothing more than to watch the whole film. I can say this as someone who has watched the trailer before seeing the movie and as someone watching the trailer years after the fact. This trailer on it’s own is great and the movie is an even better masterpiece. Something very rare to see

*We need a sequel to this masterpiece.*
*So much has happened since.*

In my opinion, "The Social Network" 2010 is a rather dark film. It vividly portrays the journey of Mark Zuckerberg and the inception of Facebook, the largest social media network. Armie Hammer delivers a stellar performance as the Winklevoss twin, while Justin Timberlake shines in his portrayal of Sean Parker, bringing remarkable depth to the character. Andrew Garfield's portrayal of Eduardo Saverin effectively conveys the profound hurt of betrayal by someone he trusted. If you're a Facebook user and haven't seen this film, it offers insight into the creator's journey behind the platform you currently use.
