Important to note that many gear insurance policies exclude theft from vehicles in their fine print because it is so common. Be very sure that your policy covers theft from vehicles before purchasing.
It's crazy this is happening more and more lately. 3 weeks ago I got my Fx30, Sony lens, mic, Sd card and other things stolen from my car. I never leave equipment in my car and the one time I did, someone stole everything. I totally agree with everything you're saying. Thanks for sharing Kofi.

The hell with all of that what you should have done. What I wanna hear is what you would have done if you would have walked out and caught them 😂? Nothing pusses me off more than when people steal from people hard working people. I feel for you man.
My, you are taking this a lot better than I would have. End of the day lesson learned and you keep on keeping on! Creatives have lots of obstacles, effing thieves are just one of them. Hopefully they did not do too much damage to your vehicle as well. Keep moving forward on your path young brother.
Man! So sorry to hear this! I got my Nikon D90 stolen in 2011 on a rainy day while working my 9-5. Had a shoot the day before and left the equipment in the car in the midst of those early days hustling and bustling. Never did anything like that again -- one of my most expensive lessons. I know you'll bounce back fam!
Oh man, sorry bro! This is such a fear for all of us, sorry it happened to you. I totally get leaving stuff in the car, I do it too whenever I have really early shoots. A buddy of mine had a bunch of stuff stolen one time. Not long after, some of it popped up on a local market in a nearby city. He was actually able to identify it. In the end, He was actually able to catch the perpetrators and get everything back. Not trying to plant seeds of false hope, but just a thought 🙂
Crazy I got my fx30 stolen last year with all my sd cards and lenses but this year I got a fx3 with a bunch of other stuff cause I locked in and never gave up.

home insurance covers all of this. I water damaged a camera body and some lenses, and it was cheaper to just pay the 1k deductible and slight rate increase. home insurance also covers anything stolen out of a vehicle except jewellery and cash. you dont even need to own a home. even if you rent, the insurance you pay is the same thing.
It's so annoying that people can't just leave things be and have to steal - even more so that it's so expensive to use the insurance that we pay for when it's for instances like these that we pay for them... Glad to see you're still positive though and I'll be watching the entire sponsored segment of any future videos, if that's any way to show a bit of support here 😄
So sorry to hear this happened to you bro! I live in the UK and this sort of stuff happens so frequently so I learnt years ago not to leave anything in the car (even if it's just a few mins!) and camera gear insurance is an absolute must! I hope you're able to recover fast!
I have never gotten anything stolen out of my car, but I most certainly put myself in positions where I could have. Now its not camera related (but ill get there in a moment), regardless of peoples opinions on stuff like this - In the state of Florida I am licensed to carry a firearm on my person. Its not exactly comfortable because....well you have a gun in your pants. So if I feel like I am about to walk into a store or restaurant in a relatively safe area, Ill keep the gun in the car. Pretty well hidden too. Sometimes I will go to a venue where on the way there I have my firearm, but I can't bring the firearm into the venue (Florida has since changed how this works, and most venues I can now...but if there is Law Enforcement there, then I dont feel the need to feel uncomfortable and still leave it in the car). A family member of mine is a cop and it got brought up in a conversation that a particular area she works where I leave my firearm in the car all the time - she gets about 7-10 stolen firearm calls out of a car....a DAY! At that point I aksed "its not *if* it will get stolen now, its *when*." And I stopped doing it. Either its on me, or I leave it at home. ITs a bigger responsibility in that case because if a firearm is stolen, its a MAJOR deal. You HAVE TO report it stolen immediately with its serial number. Now this comes full circle to my film making gear because I myself ALSO leave film making gear when I show up to a shoot in my car. I will ALWAYS bring more than I need because I have a jeep and can fit virtually everything I own into the Jeep and of course there is going to be gear I simply dont need. So my practice lately has been - scope the location for security cameras. My main gig is corporate videos so Ill see if theres cameras facing in certain directions...and thats where I will decide to park my car. Sometimes its not ideal locations for moving equipment back and forth, but its my form of "insurance" that if someone DOES break into my car...theres video evidence of it and 9/10 times - the people will get caught. Around where I live, its almost immediate too. I also have 1 level above legal tints on my jeep (Florida doesnt care how dark your tints are because of the sun and heat so the tint laws are kinda...out the window. No one enforces it.) So you can try REALLY hard to peak into my Jeep and see if theres anything worth taking out of it and I promise no matter how bright it is out, you WILL NOT see into my jeep at all. So thats another form of "insurance" I have. In my neighborhood, last year around this time we had a series of car break-ins in a single night. 2 people tailgated a car into our main gate, waited until around 2am, and went on their spree. They hit about 37 cars. They tried over 100, but 37 cars...people left unlocked. Expensive golf clubs were stolen, 1 firearm (again...dont leave a firearm in a car if youre in the US!), credit cards, debit cards, cash, just all loads of stuff. I don't care if I live in a gated community, I always leave my front and back doors locked and I leave my Jeep locked. I have them on camera trying to get into my car, the realized it was locked...and moved to the next house. So...always keep your car locked too. One thing I learned when I served in the military when trying to enter a house before we either blow the door open, bust it down, use a breaching shotgun was....did you check if maybe the door was unlocked before we use anything thats loud? Oh! HAHA good idea. Youd be surprised how many times bad guys in combat just....leave their doors unlocked lol and we got inside. Robbers have the same mindset "Let me see if its just unlocked first." ALWAYS keep your car locked.

😢 this happened to me. People always say you should put your stuff up. But not realizing it’s hard unloading a shit lot of gear! Especially when you get home late and have to leave at 5am.
Well I don't know if you know, but depending on the type of auto insurance and homeowners insurance that you have. They treat your car like an extension of your home. I had. State Farm. But definitely check your auto and Home Insurance. They treat your car like an extension of your home. Hope this helps for the hassle. Sorry to hear about this Kofi. Going through the same thing as well. We got each others back. 😊😄 Curious about the rental house solution, how would that work in terms of storing your gear with that rental company (i.e. do you reserve a specific spot for your gear)?
I've missed out on a few "after the shoot" dinners because I insist on driving all my gear home first.

@ I didn’t get a screw back. Lost it all including a VND EF to RF adapter that was being returned to Amazon. Nothing was insured unfortunately
That sucks. Sorry brother. Keep your head up. Stay well!
Thanks man, we’ll bounce back!
Sorry for your loss.
Appreciate the support !
Such a shitty feeling. Hopefully whatever choice you make leads you down the right path.
It’ll be Iight!
Sheesh my heart sank bro. WTH hope karma gets them but yea bro glad you’re staying positive about it 🤦
Could of been worse , thankfully no one was hurt
That sucks. If you could find a house with a built-in garage that could help too.
I'm so sorry man, that blows!
Sucks, bright side, no cameras lost
Sorry to here that buddy. It is just discussing that you can not even leave your sh*it on your property like in a car, without worrying that no one will break it in.
hopefully you find a way to get the stuff back too.
and I think you forgot to put the End Screens.
Yeah the endscreens cleared themselves while I let RUclips do its thing, imma fix it ahah
So sad. Hope u recover soon.
Thanks!!
Very sorry about that brother
Thanks man 🙏🏾
This really pisses me off about Toronto. I’m always so paranoid about having gear in my car
And front row insurance ain’t a big help neither ahah
that sucks. depending on ur vehicle, i recommend a yakima (or similar brand, like thule).
I’ll check that out !
Sorry to hear that bro.
At this point I just laugh 😂
I’m sorry man. I know how that feels and it sucks.
Thankfully no one was hurt, and the expensive stuff is in a secure location 🙏🏾
Sorry to hear this happened to you, My car has been broken into twice in Toronto, the first time my lenses and other camera gear was stolen and the second time I think they were still trying to find things to steal again but they found nothing but still left me with a back broken window to fix 😠😠😠😠😠
😢 this happened to me. People always say you should put your stuff up. But not realizing it’s hard unloading a shit lot of gear! Especially when you get home late and have to leave at 5am.
It’s a real struggle to unload gear late at night esp with no elevator in our building 😂
Same shit happened to me 2 month ago, they broke the window and stole my camera, lenses, mics, backpack....starting over....they ain't stopping us
You got this homie !
This happened to me on a shoot in Oakland the beginning of this year this is the worst feeling!!!
Jheeze, did you get anything back?
Well I don't know if you know, but depending on the type of auto insurance and homeowners insurance that you have. They treat your car like an extension of your home. I had.
State Farm.
When they broke into my car. I put my bag in the car.
And ran it to the barbershop for fifteen minutes to tell one of my barbers to lock up tonight and boom.
But definitely check your auto and Home Insurance. They treat your car like an extension of your home. Hope this helps for the hassle.
Of a thief who doesn't want to work for anything taking your stuff
dang bro im sorry that happened :( so frustrating
It’s annoying to all hell, but we move !
Oof, sorry to hear this, thanks for sharing just the same.
Just don’t make my mistakes !
Dang man! Sorry that happened to you brother.
I really appreciate it!
I’ll bounce back just wait!
@@KofiYeboah Did they get any cameras? Or just the lenses and the power bank stuff?
Do you have serial numbers for the lenses, lights, powerbanks, and microphones? You might keep an eye out on Marketplace, pawn shops, Craigslist, and other sales spots for some of the items.
I have most of them yeh!
@@KofiYeboah Although it's a stretch that you'll get your gear back, at least you have the serial numbers in case you run across the gear in the various places.
Get a storage space. One that has 24-hour accessibility. They usually provide carts and freight elevators. They are pretty safe and easy to access if you get one close to home. Good lucj!
sorry bud that sucks - i'll try and keep an extra eye on marketplace if anything looks familiar.
Thanks homie! My notifs on marketplace and eBay are on 🫡
Wow,this is sad to hear. Well we will get there.
Eventually!
Sorry that happened bro. 😢
Thanks homie, we’ll be aight
watching this as my RS4 PRO has been sitting in the front seat of my not tinted car for the past 2 days; i should probably bring it inside
Don’t be like me lol
Fugggggg bro. Hopefully you can recover some of it and make a video about it to monetize the pain.
Ahah I took my affiliates off this one but hey, if you see me doin something strange for a piece of change , look the other way
@ I’m still holding out hope to recover some of my stolen stuff. And if I do, I will definitely make a video haha
Make that Mula back playa, it’s not easy getting jacked 😭
It sucks, but we move !
Man during the Christmas season theft goes up like crazy in California
Toronto aint no different unfortunately
Damn what a way to learn an expensive lesson. SMH.
Yeah man aah
Sorry for what happened. On a more positive note… DOPE thumbnail
Thanks homie !! Ahah
Sorry to hear about this Kofi. Going through the same thing as well. We got each others back. 😊😄 Curious about the rental house solution, how would that work in terms of storing your gear with that rental company (i.e. do you reserve a specific spot for your gear)?
I do! And I also consign gear so we do a revenue split when someone rents my stuff in exchange for the space
@KofiYeboah gotcha. Thanks for the information. I would look into it. Hopefully Vancouver has one.😄
