Hey bud! New sub from the UK, really enjoying the vids :) I would say with Long Time, it definitely sounds a lot clearer through headphones and as you said, after a few listens once you really allow the vocal embellishments to settle into your subconscience. What I find so mesmerising about listen to Playboi Carti is that all his ad-libs are treated as instrumental additions that aren't there to be studied but more just added into the beat and once I realised this, it made me enjoy his stuff 1000x more as I just let all of it happen without focusing too much on what he's saying! There's definitely a different in his ad-libs between his two albums, where he is using sounds to highlight the style of the beat, so on Die Lit everything feels very squish and wavy but on his next album Whole Lotta Red, the ad-libs are extremely aggressive. For me, it really elevates the listening experience of his music :D
When he’s talking about fredo he’s talking about fredo Santana someone who playboi carti looked up to highly sadly he passed due to health complications and over usage of cough syrup also someone extremely influential in the 2010s Chicago drill scene with artists like chief keef
Location and RIP are my personal favs by Playboi. I also reccomend to starty checking out some Young Thug stuff, hes a very important figure in modern hip-hop. Songs like Halftime, Just Might Be or Killed Before would be a good stuff.
Idk if having lyrics up for guys like Carti and Young Thug is the right way to interpret their music, im an old school hip hop guy too and its hard to not break down the bars and lyrics so i get it haha...but with these type of new guys its more just the energy and their voices/adlibs almost complimenting the instrumental and it just sounds fun and cool, almost trance-like...their lyrics dont really mean much 😂
Honestly very commendable that you made a RUclips channel even w a stutter and u j embrace it. Very admirable
SLATT is Atlanta lingo it means Slime Love All The Time and slime basically translates to friend
Long Time had to grow on me, and now it's my favourite song on Die Lit. It 100% sounds better on headphones imo
