Summer seems a long way away now but as the nights draw in and the winter fast approaches now is the time to start re-stocking those dry fly boxes in time for next season. This fly has taken a few nice fish this year and I only had a few of the smaller sizes in my box.
I have a few favourite dry flies this is not one I would readily reach for but it bailed me out in the smaller sizes earlier this year #14 was a real eye opener.
Let me know what your go to dry fly is in the comments below.

Back a few years ago a friend took me to a new kind of secret spot. The two flies we needed were this or a #16 yellow Humpy. Caught a lot of big Cutthroat Trout! This fly is a bit easier to tie!!

Very nice looking fly Lindsay. Looks simple enough to tie. Many thanks for sharing.

Nice simple variation on the cdc theme - I reckon these would clean up in an 18 or 20 when the pale wateries are about.

I do tie similar patterns down to #18 and they do work a treat.
