Anvil Paladin Update: Problem Solved! According to CIG's Redit post just now, the Pilot of the Paladin can control the side turrets when there are not turret gunners in those seats, so it will make the pilot control 4 size 4 guns in total with missiles. So problem solved. Here is what CIG said: "Hey everyone, we've updated this section for clarity, as the previous text was unclear. While the wing turrets can be operated by a dedicated crew member, the pilot can take control when working with a smaller crew."
@@asog88 It's the cycle. I can always melt the redeemer when the time comes and trade in. When the next gunship comes out, Paladin will get nerfed into the ground and the cycle continues.
@@lusameerawell I think they will rebuff the redeemer once they get more ships out like it like the paladin and since the big size quad size 5 is the big thing with this ship I think the will keep it and nerf the speed on the rotation at worse but they might lower the side guns or go back on making them pilot controlled.
@@arenomusicit’s quad size 5 is clearly op and it even is priced in the quad size 4 bracket, so they are going to nerf it after a couple of months after the sale
It's priced lower than a Redeemer which has less and smaller weapons than the Paladin (both are gunships according to CIG), so either the post-concept price is going to soar massively, or the nerfs will be very heavy.
@@Gazbeard Post Concept prices used to soar but not anymore, it’s in the 10-15% range now from concept to finished product. I truly believe they have already priced in the nerf to quad size 4 and dual size 3 on the sides.

Yeah that' why the Corsair got nerfed too. Can't have 1 person control that much firepower. It does leave the Connie however as 4xsize 5's by the pilot, but this has the "cool movable turret" thing and the turrets have bigger guns than the Connie so... maybe.... Still leaves the question of what the extra room upstairs is for since it's not suits/weapons if those are on the bottom level. A ground vehicle doesn't make sense either if it's so high off the ground. That would be an INSANELY long ramp to get a TINY vehicle up there, or cargo. Air lock? I love all the arguments it sparks when everyone knows we won't ever see it in game. Remember the "Carrack killer" comment on the Odyssey? Such a big drama for a ship that has such a big presence in the PU 😆
Looks like the missiles racks are Behring size 4. This means that they all can be modified to any size 4 Behring rack. So the Paladin could carry 6 size 4 missiles, 12 size 3 missiles, 24 size 2 missiles, or 48 size 1 missiles! While the pilot doesn't have access to fire the guns, the pilot could be volley firing missiles.
The minimum crew is listed as 1, making me think that all the guns on the ship can be controlled by the pilot. Or at they very least, have their own AI blade.
I have a feeling that the pilot doesn't control any of the available guns like Foxy and the brochure seems to say. This actually makes the Redeemer "better" in some scenarios. Even with the downsized guns, you'll at least have control of 4x size 4s and a bunch of size 2 missiles on the Redeemer. But man, this thing comes with a single size 3 whereas the Redeemer as 6x size 2s. This is gonna be pretty controversial.
So with the change to pilot guns (the updated article states that the pilot controls the wing turrets if noone's controling them directly)... this seems like a _slightly_ weaker Connie in combat if you're solo, and a _much_ stronger Connie in combat if you have one friend to help. 4x S5 pilot controlled guns vs 4x S5 guns in a turret. 2x S3 guns in one of the two manned turrets vs 4x S4 pilot controlled guns (remember, this is with pilot + 1 in either crew). If you have a crew of 4, though, the Connie also gets its little fighter to help. Overall, I wouldn't have minded if the ship had no pilot controlled guns. Get a crew, and go wreck stuff.

"Each turret hardpoint CAN be controlled by a dedicated crew member..." This is CIG using slippery language to avoid concrete details for decisions they won't make until later down the road. "Can" suggests they are leaving the door open for the pilot to control the two S4 turrets if they decide not to nerf the ship through multicrew. They also built a ship 53m long that seems to have no cargo space at all. Why? Who knows! Hopefully they won't wait until after the sale to put out a Q&A on the Paladin like they have mistakenly done for ships in the past.
CIG did an update on the ship, as of 2 hours ago. They did say on Spectrum, the pilot will be able to control the two size 4 guns when there's only two crew members on board.

4:50 I think this is just going to be a component room. Because think about it... how could it be a vehicle bay/cargo bay when it's on the upper deck, AND the track for the turret is on the other side of the hull from this?
@@CUPv0 I mean... the TAC has one right? That's a gunship/dropship in the same class. Can already see the nerfs for this one. Turret turn speed down, size 5 to 4, pilot controlled to gunners only. At the very least it makes more sense than the drake nerfs
This isn't a fighter killer. It's for killing bigger ships. The Redeemer is a fighter killer. That quad 5 will have poor turn speed. This thing will pair well with the Redeemer. I don't know why anyone is even comparing this to a connie or a corsair. Both of those ships have cargo and vehicle carry ability. This thing is just a combat ship, it's not a daily driver. This community lives to be triggered.
Besides the possibility the redeemer being nerf because of this ship and not having pilot control weapons(in the brochure it says with a smaller crew the pilot can use the wing turrets so let's see.)Why choose this when there the constellation. Same shield and almost same turret the Connie size 3 vs the paladin size 4. In the Connie you got more missiles and cargo.
Is it just me or are the two bottom seats now useless? Literally, who would 4 men this ship now that the pilot can take control the two wing weapons? Just get rid of the two remote turret access below and put the co-pilot seat there, centered, so the pilot on the top deck can also be centered and add a warp around MFD panel, like the Pisces.
Yeah! Why not let two people operate every ship? Why can't the Carrack pilot control every turret at the same time?! Why can't I solo my Javelin if I want to???
@@gabzsy4924 The engineers might still need a full flight seat from time to time. I mean we don´t really know if you will feel force reactions when you are standing at panels in the future (it just currently doesn´t do anything). But more importantly my second point still stands: Having two extra people control the turrets makes them more useful since they can aim 360 degrees not just front. Therefore there is still a use for those two extra people even if it isn´t enourmous.
I’m wondering if those missile racks can be swapped down to smaller size Missiles and it can be a good missile spammer? I really wish it had even 2 scu of cargo for ammo..
Well now we know why the Corsair was nerfed... Redeemer too. To be fair, I still see the SL TAC as better than this. Two shields instead of 1, pilot can control 4xsize 4, plus 2x2 size 4's in turrets plus 2x2 size 3's in side turrets. That's a 5 person crew but with more protection, more firepower (missiles about the same) plus it has cargo space, drop seats, med bed and fury hangar for not much bigger (or expensive) TAC defeats the Redeemer on the same grounds too. I think this ship just sells me on the TAC more.
Hm, I wonder if you can replace the size three racks, maybe the size four racks for size two racks (for Rattlers) or max out with size one racks for a mess load of size one missiles (ground attack)?
5:59 you can see the vehicle entrance and exit clearly in this picture, was suprised you didnt point it out for confirmation right after suspecting is was an entrance.
The pilot only controls missiles, and missiles only. There is zero cargo for this ship, so there's no room for no small vehicle to be placed anywhere, I honestly was disappointed that CIG made this ship this small, I was hoping it was at least be a large ship to be able to tackle the Polaris and/or Hammerhead.
The biggest drawback is the small size of the power plants (!!!) U wont be able to uphold a sustained fire rate. Also, the shields consume a lot of power. Compare 2 Redeemer: 2x S3.
I find it stupid when someone say, I cant control every single guns on this multicrew ship on my own its bad, its a multicrew not a freaking fighter stop trying to solo every ships get some friends.
@@heatboi611 Its still a multicrew ship, they give them higher fire power because you need more people to run them, if you give all the guns to the driver its just a huge fighter, its the exact reason they nerfed the corsair.
@ then make it a multicrew by Choice. Don’t let it have all the Firepower as a Pilot But let There be some. Its still a Video Game and Most people Wanna fly their own ships instead of sitting in a turret the whole time
I need to see AI crews/ blades first. Multi crew sounds fun but for how long. Siting in someone else’s ship Day after day or even just once a week. CIG is doubling down on gameplay that’s never been tested anywhere.
it has been tested enough ... especially during xeno threat and now save stanton people manned ships to multicrew and most groups even made sure that everyone knew their place and had a job to do, fixed turret that is only for that person and other duties..
It's being tested all the time. Right now it's with Save Stanton. All the Polarises made finding a multicrew spot really easy. I didn't think I'd like doing turret work, but when it's part of something interesting like a capital ship battle it's hard not to find the fun. It also helps when the guns are big
@@CUPv0 sorry I forgot to add “for an extended period of time and at scale” Of course we like it, I just bought a pioneer. But is this multi Crüe combat really going to be working or is it just a lot of fastidious little pieces that people get bored of?
so this is just a four men hurricane, the difference is that in the hurricane, pilot can still use it solo, but this one looks like it can not. 4 size 5 and 4 size 4, definitely a very strong gunship, much stronger than a connie I would say, but not for everyone.
Still won't win any solo connie players (which is most of them) or even the Redeemer lovers (again pilot has limited to do) I think the most important issue that's never addressed is performance. Speed, maneuverability, range. I'd guess it's in the same range as the Connie/Redeemer so around 30 pitch rate, which makes it handle like a freighter. Which means you WILL need those turrets to defend yourself against the inevitable light fighters who will fly circles around you. Now for crew play.... well it's not a bad choice for a gunship. A hammerhead with 4 players is still better (except for size) I can see it as a counterpart to the Valkyrie (which is why they would not have jump seats) think of it like a helicopter gunship vs a helicopter troop transport working in tandem.
I was initially going to upgrade my Apollo Medievac to the guardian... But I just upgraded to the Paladin! 🔥💯It's like having the firepower of 3 guardians, the pilot deploying 4xS4s is deadly but in order to utilize/be effective with that Quad S5 turret we just have to pray AI blades are added before they release this ship 🙏🏼🍿lol
That should really expected for specialized ships like this. They shouldn't be daily drivers because of how purpose-built they are. They'll find their niche once fleet battles and base assaults are a thing.
With the S4 controlled by pilot, S3 shield, and quad S5 controlled by one person, this ship is a spit in the face to anyone that owns Redeemer and/or want's balanced experience. Deemer got nerfed just to sell this. Not to make game more "balanced".
What’s the weakness? Seems pretty strong? Not having a pilot be able to control a gun is not a problem. Just a difference. Everyone wanting to be able to solo every size ship is the problem. They will have blades and this is not a solo single seat fighter. I wish people would stop saying that every ship should have pilot controlled guns. Not every ship is for solo players nor should they be. People just need to be aware but please stop calling it a problem. My strong opinion.
@@TheRealKylethat’s not a problem. That’s just a difference. You aren’t supposed to be able to solo certain sized ships. It’s like trying to solo an our in real life battleships. The expectation to solo everything is the problem. What cargo do you think this ship should have? It’s a military ship for assault. It did look like it has some small cargo room in pics next to crew qtr. It’s not a cargo ship though. Only needs extra space for Ammo and back up medical for Personel. Not designed to be far away from resupply.
Yes, it wasnt clear. But its the classic "Why doesnt the pilot have gun control" arguement. However as a military gunship....That is entirely fine to me.
@@rhadiem Doubt it. They're in the same class. Redeemer flies about like the Connie (except better roll) and this ship looks to be about the same power/weight so with armor you can bet it'll be in that same gunship/med freighter "window" of around 30 degrees pitch/etc. I'd guess they'll make it comparable as a direct competitor. Even the MSR lost it's maneuverability to make it more in line with the other freighters of similar size. It's a CIG thing.
This ship seem good for multicrew fighters, i dont think it show any weakness. the turret movable position allow the team for in space or flight combat, or for ground operation , its seems rly nice to me for now, i suppose it will come with A Lot of HP as he got terrapin super renforced look. Thx for the video allways good stuff =) o7
I really like what I see about the Paladin, but: 1) It's obvious this is part of the reason they nerfed the 'Deemer. 2) I don't trust CIG as far as I can throw them, so I have no reason to believe they won't nerf this is a couple years when they want to sell yet another gunship. 3) It's not flyable yet. 4) It's pretty f*****g obvious why they nerfed the f*****k 'Deemer, and I won't support this bullsh!t. They get no money for the Paladin or "TAC" from me.
if the main turret were controlled by the pilot, that would be a major problem with how much DPS/control you'd be giving a single player. 4x S5? That would be pretty insane. This is competing more with the Hammerhead which also does not have pilot-controlled weapons.
It was tempting at first sight but realizing that the pilot is just an uber driver, possibly handling the missiles only, we all got turned off with this ship...
right now it's just a jpeg.. and with cig's track record for changing shit up and going back on their word!... I'll wait for the the actual flyable ... I aint buying pics no more.. Paladin? .. more like Paladont!
Really glad this thing that nobody asked for that is the likely reason multiple other popular ships were nerfed took the spot of one of the last ships CIG said was coming this year at Citcon 2023!

I find it hilarious when random plebs have any kind of opinion on the interwebs - I used to fly the Redeemer with a Crew and when I did I left all gunnery to the turret gunners and solely focused on flying the ship
Thank you for the update; however, I'll pass. I think that the pilot should control the main turret, and the copilot should control the missiles, MFDs, and engineering.
Correct, I was going to get one but since no pilot guns, and mostly play solo, so no money from me. I usually get about two hours of play time every few days, I just don't have the time be wasted to look for gunners.

Or the Starlancer... Same Shields and 4 size 4 pilot controlled guns
They announced that the pilot will control all 4 size 4 guns when the gunner seats are vacant
You still need engineeres and with the turrets manned they can also defend so you would have better defense.
@Cpt.Fabi1908 what? That dosn't make sense. Just have the engineer in the back on an Engineer Panel.
Yeah! Why not let two people operate every ship? Why can't the Carrack pilot control every turret at the same time?! Why can't I solo my Javelin if I want to???
@@arenomusic hey man, I think you dropped your brain. Please pick it up it's stinking up the place.
I think the 2, size 2 power plants are going to be an issue. Or perhaps it's just proof that they are going to nerf the guns down a spec.
Redeemer 2.0 - Expect gun size reductions/pilot controllable weapon reductions and all the usuals in 3-6 months
People are going to line that secondary up on an alt account and turn this thing into a monster.
I’m wondering if those missile racks can be swapped down to smaller size
Missiles and it can be a good missile spammer?
I really wish it had even 2 scu of cargo for ammo..
the description say 6x S4 , but it show equiped with 4x s3 (x2) so i think they can all be remplaced as u wich. for smaller but more of them .
They have over a dozen different ships that utility in this manner and nobody even uses them but maybe the occasional org...
Reminds me of Elite's Federal Gunship, which happens to be a mod on the Federal Dropship lol :D
Blast shields will be useful... when armour becomes a thing. Until then, it's cosmetic.
Pilot can control the side turrets
This is what they nerfed the Redeemer for basically same role in a less ugly ship.
All these new concepts and still no word on my BMM!
They won't touch BMM and most alien ships until they go through all the core human ship manufacturers and sort them out.
@ I know, I just wanna bitch about it. 🤣
I mean i get it with a Polaris But this ship is around the Size of a connie. And a connie is a good Ship by itself
Its still a Video Game and Most people Wanna fly their own ships instead of sitting in a turret the whole time
Reskins for this game hurt the most
So it’s a mini hammerhead/redeemer that punches up.
you don't need 4 beds, hot bunking on a patrol is a thing
@Cpt_Foxyloxy can you please make a video on the new Hornet variants and whats com
patible with the nose weapons slot, please?
on it
JFC they need to give the Valk pilot control of the size 3s then too...
I need to see AI crews/ blades first. Multi crew sounds fun but for how long. Siting in someone else’s ship Day after day or even just once a week. CIG is doubling down on gameplay that’s never been tested anywhere.
I think it's been tested and it's never been successful. Everybody wants to be the main character, not a minion in someone else's ship
it has been tested enough ... especially during xeno threat and now save stanton people manned ships to multicrew and most groups even made sure that everyone knew their place and had a job to do, fixed turret that is only for that person and other duties..
It's a tiny Hammerhead. Pilot will spend time balancing power and flying to support hotshot gunners.
The pilot controls the size 4 guns unless there's a dedicated gunner in that seat
Are the Paladin and Valk paints interchangeable?
prob not, why would it, from a financial point of view.
Thought they said blades were a post 1.0 thing. NPC crew is even further out than blades.
@@Power5 they said blades are part of 1.0. And that crew was a far future thing
Holy hopium
In no world should the pilot be able to control the quad 5 turret. the fact that the pilot even gets the 4 S 4s is generous.
Its such artificial unrealistic bs to have forward facing guns but you cant actually fire them.
To be 100% honest this is just something that I keep for events like save stanton or xeno threat
That should really expected for specialized ships like this. They shouldn't be daily drivers because of how purpose-built they are. They'll find their niche once fleet battles and base assaults are a thing.
I’d take it over a Redeemer.
Would I take it over a SL TAC?
🤔 🤔
So this won't be good against fighters but against bigger stuff?
Reminds me of a very angry Argo Raft
I'm actually super excited about this one. I already love the look of Anvil ships and this is no exception. i always hated the Redeemer design.
With the S4 controlled by pilot, S3 shield, and quad S5 controlled by one person, this ship is a spit in the face to anyone that owns Redeemer and/or want's balanced experience. Deemer got nerfed just to sell this. Not to make game more "balanced".
Well, to me thats a easy CCU upgrade, nothing more.
I absolutely love the design. ... But as a solo-pilot it's a "nope" for me :D hehe
players keep thinking this is solo game this is a MMORPG I hoping for more Multirole ships
it has 3 guns + 1 missle rack and need a 1 pilot (duh) and 3 gunners?
What’s the weakness? Seems pretty strong? Not having a pilot be able to control a gun is not a problem. Just a difference. Everyone wanting to be able to solo every size ship is the problem. They will have blades and this is not a solo single seat fighter. I wish people would stop saying that every ship should have pilot controlled guns. Not every ship is for solo players nor should they be. People just need to be aware but please stop calling it a problem. My strong opinion.
that the turrets needs to be manned, no cargo hold, big cross section
Probably gonna fly slow like the Valk and there are no pilot controlled weapons.
@@hamiltonbrown9591sure thing, be happy with your answer.
still the weakness
Yes, it wasnt clear. But its the classic "Why doesnt the pilot have gun control" arguement. However as a military gunship....That is entirely fine to me.
welp now i have 3 gunships.... deemer, paladin and perseus :x
Redeemer will likely fly circles around the Paladin.
@@rhadiem thats fine for me since i got them both lol
This ship seem good for multicrew fighters, i dont think it show any weakness. the turret movable position allow the team for in space or flight combat, or for ground operation , its seems rly nice to me for now, i suppose it will come with A Lot of HP as he got terrapin super renforced look. Thx for the video allways good stuff =) o7
Valkyrie and Hurricane had a baby
I really like what I see about the Paladin, but:
1) It's obvious this is part of the reason they nerfed the 'Deemer.
Must've never used a Connie hehe
It was tempting at first sight but realizing that the pilot is just an uber driver, possibly handling the missiles only, we all got turned off with this ship...
Pilot can control the wing turrets so pilot has 4 size 4's
Congrats! You are the person they are trying to sell this ship to! Go claim your prize!!!
The Paladin better turn like crap to justify the Redeemer changes. (Or else the changes were just to sell this thing.)
So this is why redeemer was nerfed lol
right now it's just a jpeg.. and with cig's track record for changing shit up and going back on their word!... I'll wait for the the actual flyable ... I aint buying pics no more.. Paladin? .. more like Paladont!
Probably three years away
Really glad this thing that nobody asked for that is the likely reason multiple other popular ships were nerfed took the spot of one of the last ships CIG said was coming this year at Citcon 2023!
Four size 5 gun wow
This ship is for pilots who love engineering power management and shield gameplay, not dogfighter pilots. Redeemer is for active flying combat pilots.
Concept JPG? CTRL + W
Its a big fatty ship, I love it and all the anvil ships.
Video already outdated :( Side pews can be pilot controlled
Thx for the heads up. This video is not outdated, and I just updated with what CIG said about the pilot controlled guns, check pinned comment for this video.
@@cpt_foxyloxy That works as well! Love your videos.
i already have a Perseus and Andromeda so i wont be picking one up
Rubbish. 4 players in this V’s 4 Ares. This would be space dust in seconds.
Edit: Found out CIG updated the pilot can use guns if there is no one in the seat. Retracting my prior comment
pilot can control the wing turrets when u fly with a small crew
I find it hilarious when random plebs have any kind of opinion on the interwebs - I used to fly the Redeemer with a Crew and when I did I left all gunnery to the turret gunners and solely focused on flying the ship
Thank you for the update; however, I'll pass. I think that the pilot should control the main turret, and the copilot should control the missiles, MFDs, and engineering.
Junk, just another anvil ship with no guns for the pilot. just buy drake, F anvil
Not interested.
DO not buy it till its ingame ffs people.
disappointed in the ship. better choices exist.
No pilot control guns - no money, looks good nevertheless buy in game.
I dont think multicrew ships are all supposed to be solo-able
@@zeroxception yep.
@@zeroxception Giving the pilot more to do than being a taxi driver isn't the same as allowing them to solo a ship.
Correct, I was going to get one but since no pilot guns, and mostly play solo, so no money from me. I usually get about two hours of play time every few days, I just don't have the time be wasted to look for gunners.
