Nobody seemed to have complemented the video editing. It’s very clever and I’m sure it took a long time to edit out all the translation and still make the talk flow. I doff my hat to whoever did this. Great job.
I low key thought JC was being kind of rude and didn't let the translator do his job. That is how good the editing was. (Also I was listening, not watching. That might have had an impact on it.)
@@gustavbw , I don't think he was being rude. The fact he was there was nice. I think he just thinks on another level. He seems like a nice guy. His mind seems to move very quickly. Maybe that was mis interpolated as rude. The good point is it was recorded and can be gone over again.
If I ever find something that I will be as enthusiastic about as Jacob is with music, I will die a happy man. I mean, I have kids and I love them... but Jacob and music... dude...
His harmonies here though remind me a lot of melodies fashionable in the late 60ies early 70s, in pop music inspired by bossa nova, soundtracks of old Italian movies of that period often had that sound, I need to find some names...
honestly when he talks about jazz and no one plays like Bmaj7 over G7, I use it in my improv on the piano, its a very nice chord since Bmaj7 will rise C major and G7 also. But other than that, Jacob is really insane!!! he is a genius and an exceptional unique musician
At 18:25 he says that Happy Birthday [g g a g c b / d c] becomes [d d c d g a / f g]. But if I am following the axis concept as he explained it, I think it should be [d d c d a bb / g a]. What do you think?
When he start going into super lydian, and how how people dont talk about that stuff, im just like I need to play Breathe of the Wild cause I recognize all that!!!
Anybody know of some resources that can help me to learn about how moving from E to G-half # using 4 chords via the manipulation of Just Intonation/Harmonic Series works? Thanks :). Also, can't tell you how much I appreciate having access to this masterclass!!!
ruclips.net/video/Xd54l8gfi7M/видео.html this shiuld help. If you have any questions, you can just ask here, I too am fairly new to understanding the concept, but I think I’m getting the hang of it.
15:36 i think i've watched every video on YT about negative harmony but i still have no clue on what he "flips the notes" like, where is the point of the "flip"? how do you know that this note has to become this note because it has to be flipped on this "axes" wHaT iS tHe aXeS
the point you flip around is exactly half way between c and g, so its between e and eb. then you just have to count the number of half steps for each note to this point and continue on with the same amount after you reached it. example: from d to the imaginary point between e and eb it's two half steps (d and eb), so you have to go two more half steps (e, f). so d besomes f.
"es raro porque ahora como que represento una generación de gente con chops" el explicando como antes no tenia mucha tecnica pero ahora representa una generación de gente con mucha tecnica (pero antes tambien dice que su tecnica no esta donde el quisiera, pero que ha hayado la forma de tocar cosas que le funcionan"
18:19 Jacob's happy birthday inversion is wrong...... it should be C Bb C G Ab, C Bb C F G and so on (on the axis of E half flat). I dont know why he starts it on D and then finishes on G a few bars later.
nothing against the translator, he seems like a nice dude and he is really trying but i really think it was a bad idea having him there, seems kind of pointess and disruptive
Yeah, translator is a fucking joke, it's actually pissing me off that he has the nerve to translate. And nod like he's on top of his game. Give me a break.. Jacob was laughing at him as well but the guy was to dense to fucking get it.
Translator is nodding along like "I'm on top of my GAME man" but he translates 5% and even that poorly, usually waiting for Jacob to finish a whole monologue and then translating the last 3 words. Get a life man, why would you translate, just sit with the audience and release subtitles in on youtube in Spanish, ffs. (which you didn't btw) what a joke.
Almost all of the translations are edited out, we only see them when the alternative would mean cutting some of Jacob's words as well. Don't discredit the guy.
Jacob, 12 minutes into his insanely complex music theory lesson: "Do you guys know about the circle of fifths?"
yeah we know!
😂😂😂 Lucas, I was like it's little bit late for that now buddy
I'll be honest, I do not know the circle of fifths

I totally noticed this and it was VERY much appreciated.

Yes, great job with the editing.
I'm convinced that he is the physical embodiment of music itself.
5:14 Jacob "super lydian" translator "super lydian"
"Super Lídio" actually
Jacob: B
Translator: Si
Jacob: no, B
Translator: Si

LOOK AT THE TRANSLATOR'S FACE
high as a kite

3:40 Jacob says there are things he cannot do.... I don't agree and I don't quite understand
hahhahhaa exactly right!
He's basically saying he can't physically keep up with his mind. Imagine if he could. It would probably be crazy.
i just wanna say damn his voice is tuned so perfectly
Thank you for sharing. Jacob is tha man.

jacob, who records with the door open!
I love how he is mocking about Jazz chords because there level is level is like too low 😂
Jacob: I didn't have the chops
Also Jacob: 5:33
This guy is a fucking genius. Holy shit.
That poor translator 😂😂 I’m sure he changed careers after this
I think he had a great time.
Jacob...you played Winter Words of Britten....nice call!
At 18:25 he says that Happy Birthday [g g a g c b / d c] becomes [d d c d g a / f g].
But if I am following the axis concept as he explained it, I think it should be [d d c d a bb / g a].
What do you think?
The translator is a champ
Benjamin Britain may be brilliant but I think Joe America isn't half bad either.
When he start going into super lydian, and how how people dont talk about that stuff, im just like I need to play Breathe of the Wild cause I recognize all that!!!
Please include this in the Jacob Collier playlist that you made. There's only parts 1, 2, 3 & 5 in it.
1:34 ÉPICO!! 😂😂

17:50 it's not ( F phryian ) Its ( G phrygian )... oh god thank you jacob is humain !
Thought I wasn’t the only one who thought that too
However, he corrects himself in this same talk: ruclips.net/video/5DZVe3jqCi8/видео.html (same masterclass unedited)
Or it could be F Dorian.
¿Por qué cortan el video?
filtrar las insoportables interrupciones para traducir? (quedaron las insoportables micro traducciones)
8:28 jacob looking down on mere peasant level jazz altered extension harmony
9:13 don't follow the crowd
12:06 jazz
This is what it would of felt like to watch Einstein explain m = mc2
FINALLY
jajaja :)
Masterclass, circle of 5ths ???
I think the inversion he played around 18:44 (last part of Happy Birthday) was wrong. Shouldn’t it be D, D, Eb, G, F, G?
3:23, Can someone give me the translation of "chops" "charps" or "choaps" please. I understand the Idea but there's a word missing
@M2AX thanks !
2:36 nice
Is that the lick at 10:58 ?
10:38 note
So when my choir goes flat it's a good thing! better natural sound needs not be corrected
the translater is more into it then the other people LMFAO

Raoul woah man thank you so much this just made me a whole lot smarter:)
@@sdoom1101 pleasure to help!
Also the word axe (thus axes) is misleading. I think he said axis, which is basically the center
11:40
#GhalfSharp :-)
11:10 Harmonia negativa
9:57 A FLAT* major7 sharp 5
if you harmonize with an A it fits in with the shape of the chord better than A flat
Chops people?
Mozart is that you?
Laburó muy poco el traductor ehh
17:58 G* phrygian
18:19 Jacob's happy birthday inversion is wrong...... it should be C Bb C G Ab, C Bb C F G and so on (on the axis of E half flat). I dont know why he starts it on D and then finishes on G a few bars later.
He was literally saying he's doing it different because others don't...
joshua khan I don’t understand what you mean

nothing against the translator, he seems like a nice dude and he is really trying but i really think it was a bad idea having him there, seems kind of pointess and disruptive
@DANIEL EUDY you are right. Transtator’s interventions were removed in edit.
@DANIEL EUDY yes ! I also edited the video 😁
@DANIEL EUDY without a doubt. A brilliant maind and also a great person. Jacob is unique.

Saludos!
Does anybody else find the interpreter annoying?
Jacob is so inspiring though
