Alright, now we're talking a real classic fun game to play from the SNES. Something that will help me guide the whole game through and see what other levels I may have missed and I'm sure this video will help me along the way. Thanks for posting and keep up the good work. 👍
Me and boy watched the super Mario 3 video over a few days and we loved it … he’s gonna be so excited about this one. So am I lol. Amazing content you have on your channel man. 🙏🏻
U Can Beat Video Games guy is way too underrated. I can listen his stuff without being annoyed. Unlike most of RUclipsrs, they just start to irritate being jackass most of the time.
I know you hear it a lot (because I see it in the comments every time I watch one of these videos) but you're one of, if not my top favorite channel on RUclips. Your channel concept is so unique while somehow also being a super "obvious" (in hindsight of course) concept: Take a game, do a walkthrough/playthrough, cut out all the fluff, narrate the entire thing in post with strategies and tips, provide a little history on the game, it just feels like the video version of a really good strategy guide -- I assume, since I never owned any. Even if I'm not paying total attention while I have your videos on the second screen or something, I still find myself glancing to see ways to tackle these games I didn't think of or content I somehow missed. All without a 40-80 video long playlist full of gameplay and distracted banter. That stuff can be fun, too, but this gives me both longform entertainment *and* to-the-point informative content!
I can’t imagine the amount of work these videos take. I know I’ll never go back and play the vast majority of the games featured in these videos, but i love watching them.
Seveeral thoughts: 1. This is the first RUclips video I have seen that acknowledges that the flute in Mario 3 can be used to replay Worlds 5 and 6. 2. A useful tip with swimming is that holding the down key will keep Mario from swimming too high. When you need to avoid spikes or Torpedo Teds, a good down-A will help Mario maintain depth. (Similarly, up-A will allow Mario to ascend WAY faster than normal). 3. If Yoshi eats two pink berries and hatches a cloud, the cloud will drop a 1-up mushroom if you catch all of the golden circles. 4. There's a fifth dragon coin in the Cheese Bridge Area that the video says doesn't exist, but it is shown and collected. It's in the buzzsaw gauntlet. 5. When I was a kid, I thought that the only way under the first goal in the Cheese Bridge Area was with the cape. It wasn't until I was an adult that I learned that Mario could vault off of Yoshi to get to the ledge. Using the cape my success rate was less than 5%. With Yoshi it's up to 50%.
Nice video! Impressive work as always. I first encountered this game at a cousin's house in Ireland, and it was what made me want a SNES. For some reason Vanilla Dome 1 sticks in my memory as one of those moments my impressionable young mind just sort of went "Wow...videogames!" And the rest is history.
Fun note, This game was released several times on the SNES, one time was as a special version of Super Mario All-Stars. And this version of Super Mario World had some bug fixes, but the most notable thing was that the Luigi sprite sheet was updated.
This was always one of those games that I forgot how much I loved. Like, I didn't own a copy myself as a kid but literally everyone I knew did so I'd play any time I visited but I always tend to forget how much I really like this game
Yet again, another game I thought I knew every pixel of, and you showed me something in the first level I never even heard of. Also, I never got that bill and Ted reference. Wtf. Amazing stuff. Nice work, man.
Your game guides are the most comprehensive on YT. How do you come up with them? Do you research the game as much as you can then play it over and over again until you perfect it? Or are these just games that you’ve just played in the past and just happen to be a completionist?
Wow! So many secrets I never knew about this game. Here are some things that I remember from my playthroughs of the game when I was a kid: @22:09 It's 8 berries, and they always release a mushroom. @23:07 the purple blocks can be eaten by Yoshi after you pick them up, and they give you one coin. (Super trivial, I know) @31:52, If you go into that section without Yoshi, the pokeys are smaller, only having two or three segments instead of 5, so it's easier to jump over them. In fact if they spawn without Yoshi on the screen they will be shorter. @1:11:22 Yoshi can also eat the powerup inside the roulette block. @1:22:27 I used to spin jump on the flashing shell after it killed all of the other enemies and it would give me a 1up for some reason. @1:47:02 IIRC, the names of these enemies are "Spike Tops". Very similar to Spinies, but with on one spike on top. @2:05:10 Collecting all the coins that the coin cloud makes will eventually cause it drop a 1-up. @2:07:06 Once you make it all the way through this section, if you wait before going to the next section and let the ceiling go all the way down (while not under it of course) the it will make the Thwomp hitting the ground sound. If you have a cape and keep hitting the stone block it will keep making that sound.
So I'm about halfway through and since you haven't mentioned these things in your overview or when you spoke about Yoshi I'll say them here. Normally when you launch Yoshi's tongue he ducks and you pick up things at ground level. If you hold up when you launch his tongue he will remain standing. This isn't a super useful move but it's neat. Also, if you have a winged Yoshi normally you will have to repeatedly hit the jump button to keep airborne but you're wearing a cape you can just hold the button down and Yoshi will fly continuously. Finally if you're not watching Yoshi's behavior carefully he might swallow a shell while he's carrying it, if you want to spit the shell out safely and not have the shell launched at something you can press and hold down and spit the shell out. Yoshi will just drop it harmlessly out of his mouth. This can be useful if you want for some reason to carry one specific shell across a stage. This also works as Mario, if you just want to set something down and not kick it away just hold down before you release the object.
I don't know if this will be mentioned in the sequel, but there's also the fact that when Yoshi eats a flashing shell, he will get all of the powers: flight, stomping, spitting fire.

Even in funiture stores. I still remember when the Super Nintendo was $200 bucks when it first came out in late 1991. I had a choice in 1993 to get either the Super Nintendo or to get the Sega Genesis when the prices finally dropped on both systems. I got the Sega Genesis back then. It was not until years later when I finally got a Super Nintendo and finally got to play this game. I never made it too far in this game. The furthest I got was Ghost House 1 in Donut Plains. Although I did hear that trying to find the keys was a nightmare in this game because they are hidden so well. I also heard that Soda Lake and Valley Fortress were the 2 hardest levels in this game.
Wow you know so much stuff that I never seen revealed elsewhere, the cheese bridge secret exit, magazines in the day had players trying to get it by flying through all the saws in the 2nd half of the level with right timing and then going under and up again at end, took such perfect timing, then this video shows me a much easier way just jump off yoshi lol.
This game spoiled me as a kid. I didn’t know it was going to be a high water mark for games. I thought it was the new bar for what games would be going forward. Few games measure up and even fewer today.
