Whilst I may be replying to a 4 year old comment (because youtube suddenly recomends me this video in 2020), I can say that not only is Oceanborn the best Nightwish album, but it's my absolute favourite album of all time.
Such an amazing, beyond amazing voice. Very atmospheric and powerful performance. So young and extremely talented, this performance hits me right in the soul. The look of Tarja here is very beautiful, i'm old enough to remember well when rock/goth looked like this, it was the unique style of the mid 90s. Miss the long hair tho, lol. This band was very fresh, powerful, unique, mysterious, atmospheric and full of soul when they started. Still is, but in a different way.
Johannes Silver Yeah and unfortunatly Emppu quitted brother firetribe. I got the chance to listen to the new nightwish album and there is only one guitar solo. So now we have to wait 5 years or so to hear new Emppu stuff and probaply we will get just a short solo again. Hopefully Emppu finds a new projekt with more space to shine or Tuomas will give him more space.

I think the guys were pretty fresh out of the Finnish military service. While some serve it as a civil service (with a few religious minorites admited a permit not to serve), most of men 20 yrs of age go through 6-9 months of military service.

I definitely prefer Tarja's voice for this song as opposed to Annette's. Of course the the songs were written with her voice in mind so that would make sense. I am really looking forward to hearing songs from Imaginarium written with Annette's voice in mind. =)
Nightwish probably paid to perform live on national tv at the time, imagine that. I remember seeing this live on tv. The band was so inexperienced but talented at the same time.

All they are so funny in this video. Short hairs, no tattoos. But the music is fantastic - it's like an ocean of sounds which swallow you completely. Sorry to say - no Tarja without Nightwish and vice versa. Who are they now - some band. Very good, but that's it.
How can singer, who doesn't do any songs or even take part in training sessions before recording, be soul of the band? If somebody is soul of Nighwish, it's Tuomas, who makes almost every song and lyrics for the band.
Tarja's was only 19 at this time, and she might have had some so-called "baby-fat" left, from when she was a child(not that I can see ANY fat, on this beautiful woman). However, I completely understand that you think it looks weird ^^ Most of us have grown used to the newer versions of the band-members xD

Floor doesn't sing classical way. She visits shortly classical style in some of her songs, but only shortly: she doesn't create the operatic spaceous voice. Tarja had two versions of "Sleeping Sun", classical and contemporary: both Anette and Floor sing the contemporary version. They made Floor a new arrangement for Deep Silent Complete which isn't classical sung like Tarja's version is.

@Alymf They are still good, I belief. Just not operatic as they were. But they use REAL orchestras and choirs nowadays. I love both new and old anyways. A true NW fan loves them still.
@cynn753 they together were the best, a great voice with wannabe-metal musicians, and a great musicians with a softer voice will never be the same. I know three bands totally different, old nightwish, new nightwish and tarja turunen. a lot of people only only take into account the voice regardless of the musicians. That without count that Tuomas is better composer than Tarja's composers
@VPreuss1 I was like you before, and I still agree that the singles with Anette mostly sucks. But if you listen to Song of Myself, Scaretale or The Poet and the Pendulum, this stuff is just epic!

Everybody talks about tarja but noboy recognisted how good emppu is. He was still at a verry young age here but nailed all the solos!
