The second (lyrical) theme in the first movement is one of the most gorgeous ever penned. In my opinion, this is a concertante masterpiece.

      Isn't it a variation of Pachelbel's Canon?

Listen to the pizz bass/cello parts and tell me that's not the pachelbel ground bass

If anyone from 4 years ago reads this, the Romanesca is an ultra common schema of the galant style and Pachelbel did not invent it. Look up Robert Gjerdingen’s work “Music in the Galant Style.”

I don't understand why so few harp pieces were written in Europe after the early nineteenth century. The instrument has huge capabilities. The liveliest harp culture today is in Latin America.

Maybe people prefer the much grander sounding of the modern piano.

Maybe you should learn the harp literature before you say such things.

No conocia este concierto, pero el primer movimiento tiene un tema realmente hermoso, creo que trasciende la epoca en la que fue escrito; lastima que no sea tan famoso como otros compositores, una verdadera maravilla descubierta

This is a fine classical concertos. The Bohemian composers were among the best. It would be awesome to see the complete concertos of Krumpholtz and Dussek recorded. They are foundational composers for the harp, who were harpists themselves. Krumpholtz was a master of musical melancholy.

But I don't understand someone who takes the time to master such a piece and doesn't learn to play the ornaments correctly, which are pretty clearly written in the original scores, and apparent if you know the composer's music.

Krumpholtz s'est suicidé en se jetant dans la Seine à Paris, pendant la révolution française. Roberta Alessandrini est magnifique. Le premier mouvement est superbe.

I can now say for sure that Krumpholz's Harp concerto was a direct inspiration (if not straight out lifting of whole sections) for Johann Nepomuk Hummel's Mandolin G Major Concerto.
