Hey man, just saying this as someone who is a WW1 German reenactor myself, I would HIGHLY recommend picking up an original Stahlhelm at some point, whether it is an M16, or M17, they are awesome pieces of history that are usable at reenactments and for display. They wear much better than repops as well. Also, unless you're going with an early WW1 Kit, I'd recommend darkening any of the brown leather equipment you have, The 98 pouches, shovel cover, jackboots (I own the same pair btw).
There’s a M1 helmet coming in the mail. Can’t wait till I get it, I have the shirt, pants, canvas leggings, and shoes. Working on a ww2 United States Army uniform I’m gonna wear it to school Monday, thanks for these videos! Keep it up
Some notes from Germany. Stahlhelm means ,steel helmet' , so the Adrian and the Brodie are in german also ,Stahlhelme'. Then , Pickelhaube' ( pickaxe hood) is simply a nickname, the helmet was simply a ,Lederhelm mit Spitze' ( leather helmet with point), there had been steel helmets and ones made oft copperbased metall with a point, used by cuirassiers and other heavy cavallry being no dragoons , and also palace units like the ,Leibgendarmen'.
Hessen antique has AMAZING prices, I got a brand new 80’s polish gas mask in perfect condition for $13, everything is so cheap there, I order frequently from them and have never had quality problems (yet at least). Man the line has great stuff too, but its all so expensive. Either way, I love them both.
It's very frustrating when you see a nearly historically accurate piece of kit with a modernized enhancement like those straps. You're clearly into ww1 and ww2 era, I would recommend if you have a PC there is a free game on Steam called Heroes and Generals. Good video, keep em goin.
I have also a german helmet and uniform but they're from WW2. Anyway you are historically accurated and properly informated, an excellent channel! Das Deutscherland über alles!
I went to a military surplus store in Illinois, it had a *original* WW1 German helmet that was used in real combat. (I know what the German WW1 helmets were but I sadly can’t spell it, lmao)
the only problem i have with "man the line" is that some things they say they have, they actually dont and you never get it (example my c96 stock that i ordered during the middle of last year)
love your "letter opener" lol!!! damn! what awesome gear!!! that stahlhelm looks a lot better then many repros ive seen. dont forget to do the sock roll before you put your ankle breakers on. what? no kratchen?
Yea the denture tab is a good idea but I had a 1942 us canteen and it had calcium build up in it so i used denture tablets and also you can put steel bbs in it and shake like a mad man and I got pretty clean
great video, the items are amazing, i dont collect from ww1 i collect from ww2 dutch equipment. also i just wanted to say that the filming qualty is amazing.
I loved this vid. I wanted to get my Pickelhaube but man those things are expensive, lol. Perhaps it'll be fun to have you on World Hatstory 101 someday for the Pickelhaube!
Definitely gotta agree with his claims for Hesse antique. I got the pioneer feldrock, and while it looks nice they did the same thing with the polywhattafuq, and it definitely has some gray issues. And I also got an iron cross first class badge which looked great!! Until I realize d that when I ran my thumb over the black finish, it all rubbed off on the W. But it’s fine right? It’s shiny it’s whatever. 7hrs later I hear a “tink” on the ground, and there it is. The pin holding it on my uniform, BROKE the same day I got it. And I couldn’t return it because their shitty patina rubbed off. They’re over priced too. Pretty self explanatory
Where would be the best online shop to buy these First World War German uniforms and kits? I've scouring the internet and I can't decide where to buy. Also thanks for the video. I thoroughly enjoy it.
Prussia: * makes pickelhaubes * Chile: it s for me ???? Prussia: yes littel boy, is for me and you :) Switzerland: and me??? Prussia: yes, for you to :) Argentina, ecuador, brazil and others countrys: and me???? Prussia: NO, YOU PREFER U.S.A DEVIVED TO WW1.
Yea like on my 1942 us canteen when I got it the seal was tin foil because the cork was missing so I took out the tin foil and put a cork gasket that I shaped for the cap of the canteen and it works great
Just a point out the pouches aren't accurate. The texture needs to be smaller bumps. Small detail not a big deal if you are just doing an impression. I also wanted to say I prefer the look of puttees for some reason, they just look more ragtag
the other reason the british and the french got trenchfoot more often is because they had the lowground and there trenches where far less even in 1917 still just temporarely whilst the germans had deep concrete bunkers with electricity and running water
So not to seem judgy or condesending lad but. You should not have bought the jack boots off of hessian, i would recommend either SM whole sale, Lederarsenal, or At the Front, they provide much better and more accurate jack boots, especially Lederarsenal who have the best repro boots you can buy out there. Also jack boots never had leather pull straps they were always cotton because it was an easier to accuire material and cheaper.
Quick question, im planning to buy my tunic and trousers from Hessan Antique for a ww1 german infantry impression but on trousers its got 32 - 42 and tunic 36 - 52. What do those numbers means because I'm used to seeing specific measurements but idk if its just the main size that counts.?
Pickle haube nice them things cost a lot. And how much did all of this cost in genral? Also my only ww1 era item is a 1912 Chilean knockoff m95 bayonet with the scabbard it's in decent shape but shows its age and use.
I love his tool of choice for opening a package lmao

I will also agree the Picklehaube is just amazing, it also has amazing history.

Well weren’t their soldiers that disregarded the order to darken their equipment?
Farb hessian antique is pure ass
Where would you recommend getting a decent quality 1916 helmet for a affordable price?
@@mig15bis44 It's all very unit specific, and for a basic kit, it's better to be the rule, rather than the exception. Apologies for the late reply!
@@804_grandstaff I do agree, but for just a pair of boots, it's a good stop-gap until you can get a better pair.

pickelhaube, and that's very neat, a lot of pickelhaubes were brought back to America by soilders as war souvenirers.
Nice knife, cool haul as well.

Congratulations on 70k subs 👍
That’s some really cool stuff, I do ww2 airsoft. I was thinking about getting a ww1 American but it’s exspensive
FINELY! Some one who agrees with WW1-2 stuff smelling nice! Edit: I agree with with jack boot being so good.

I love the cardboard box opening it sounds like ASMR
Why do I feel if you knock off the “horns” it’s just a really big m42

I would love to see a French soldier uniform
It comes with a mandatory white flag
@@Oberkommando oooofff
I have one of those. Wore it to Walmart. great fun. I also have a ww2 Japanese military cap
Ok, this is epic
Would you ever sell the Tornister?

the fact that the soldiers who died in war had their uniforms sold as cosplays 100 years later
you should get one of those canvas hoods for the picklehaube they were adopted pretty quickly in ww1
3:22 this is actually from where I come from. Infanterie-Regiment „Graf Bülow von Dennewitz“ (6. Westfälisches) Nr. 55
On most canteens usually 1700s up you can change out the cork on the canteen

Get metal bbs and hot bleach water and put it in the canteen and shake it for a few min into it will be clean
Echt coole Videos weiter so kamerad 👍🏽
Hessen Antique has some very good reproduction products. I wish it was cheaper, then I would be using it as my clothing store.
Use a bayonet from kar98k to open boxs or plastic bags
You should see about getting those boots dyed Black.
Where do you go the German uniform like pants and tunik and where you got the pickelhaube and the Stahlhelm
Das ist ein perfektes Video!
I can’t help but think that most of the real old stuff there is a good chance it was pulled off a dead body
Love your vids❤️❤️
“Very good conditioning.....I hate conditioning” I felt that

they give sizing charts just look around
