Was gonna retire on the 23rd, just like you.......but decided to go on the 15th. That first cup of coffee this morning watching the snow come down and knowing i dont need to get to work ever again was wonderful.
Congrats Peter! I've got you beat, $36.61 for electric, $12 for water/sewer, 600 sq ft apt. The other apartments around me keep mine insulated, love it.
OMG , my standard water/ sewer bill is $140 for 2 months .. just the standard amt (lowest payment) ,,, electric can be up to $400 per month .. in a middle unit. You are lucky.
Wow, thank you for the words of encouragement. I’m not sure I’m a mentor, but I will definitely keep posting and let you all know how I’m doing good or bad. And hopefully people can learn from me while I’ll continue to learn as well.
Yes. The last nine or 10 months have been a little hard to stay motivated. But I did it and it was so well worth it. You can do it. November will be here soon.
Peter, you are setting a good example as to what is possible when choosing to retire early! If more folk would track their expenses and make an effort to save, early retirement would be possible for them as well.
I agree. But living frugal for many many many years is not for everybody. Some people enjoy living paycheck to paycheck or spending money whenever they have it. I don’t try to force my ways down anyone’s throats. If people ask me, I’m more than willing to help them get on track with their budget And while it works for me, you have to be willing to make the sacrifices.
Did you see the shout out I gave you? I did a question and answer video a bunch of months ago. Maybe it is time for a new one. I could post something on the community page and have people leave their questions. I do want to do a live once a week or maybe once every two weeks once I’m retired. Just on my phone maybe 30 minutes or so during the day just to have fun and chitchat with the community.
@@retireearlywithme I did see the shout out and you're welcome. You're doing great and I wanted to celebrate you. I set aside $5 from every paycheck to go into what I call a "creator fund" and I use it to buy things from Etsy shops, to say thank you or to bless creators in some way. It's $5 less of personal money I set aside for that purpose. Hope you're having a great week!
29th for me. I'm not nervous at all now. I'm so ready. They will have a catered in meal for me and the employees for lunch. I'm done after we eat. Did you get any snow your way this week? It looks like a lot of the south got some. I live in Iowa and the last two storms missed us.
They usually do pizza or something for the person retiring on their last day. People will come in and say goodbye. And like you said after that, I’m out the door goodbye. We got a little bit of snow last night mostly frozen rain. A light dusting. It should be gone by the end of today. As it’s going to be in the 40s and I think the sun’s going to come out

Just happened across your channel. I just gave my notice of my retirement yesterday - retiring in August. But not early - that is my SSA FRA. I "retired" before in June 2017, but the called and 18 months later and asked if I would come back for a special project and I did. This time it's for keeps LOL. Other than the fact that my retirement is not early, the other difference is that I have a few other personal endeavors/pursuits/interests that will keep me busy. I am building a chopper, I am building an airplane from a kit, and I am taking flying lessons. I have lots of stuff to do. I have more retirement savings than you, and I'll have SS income, but I went with a Medicare medigap plan which is more expensive - especially in the state I am from. And I don't have RUclips income like you do.
Wow. Building a Choppa and an airplane? That is pretty cool. Nothing wrong with going back to work. I plan on taking six months a year and doing nothing. During that six months a year if I’m bored, I can always go get a part-time job. I really do not know what to expect But I’m looking forward to the journey. Good job Peter hope you enjoy your retirement. It is always good to hear what you have to say. Would be interesting to see the green space you have around your condo and areas you are able to put in your 10,000 steps.
When I retire, I do plan on doing some more videos of me walking early in the morning or whenever I walk. A few people have asked for me to do some videos of me walking showing where I do walk. And the green space and woods around where I live.
I'm not retired yet but am planning to soon. You are an inspiration to pull the trigger on retirement. So you said dental is going to be 10 or 11 dollars a month. Is the dental part of ACA insurance, or is it a separate insurance?
The dental is part of the ACA. It’s separate than the actual health insurance, but it’s still part of the ACA. I hope that helps. You can go on their website and put in your age and income, and it will give you a bunch of information.
That is one heck of an awesome budget, Peter. I was wondering where you live. I have been thinking about North Carolina for a long time. Sounds very affordable. Congratulations! Hubby and I are down to four years, 11 months, and 20 days!😂
I moved to North Carolina a little over 22 years ago. I still consider Massachusetts my home, but I guess this is my second home at this point. The only reason I go back to Massachusetts is a visit my mother and other family. It’s very hot here in the summer And winter are usually pretty nice. But it’s been very cold here the last few weeks. I’ve watched a bunch of videos and still do watch a bunch of videos about retiring overseas in the Philippines and other areas as well. Seems very interesting but scary at the same time. I would think about it, but my mom is still in Massachusetts and I want to be able to visit her at the drop of a dime. Keep going and you can retire as well. I’ll continue to post videos whether I’m continuing to do well or I’m failing at retirement, but I hope to give people a little bit of insight of retiring early good and bad.
February 20... that's the day I am stepping away. A little younger... but i'm going for it. I am prepared to work part time if I have to, truth be told I might want to even. I need a break though and think i'm prepared to do so... infact, i know i'm prepared to do so (not sure for exactly how long but my cheap ass thinks it can be for a long time!). Love your videos, you gave me some things to think about and prepare for.
Congratulations February 20 is not that far away. You can do it. Even if you work part-time as long as you’re happy, that’s all that matters. Take a break and see how you feel in a few months. Continue to live cheap and frugal like me and we will be OK.
Awesome budget! Our monthly budget right now, as we are crushing debt, plus enjoying life is around 8k. However! We just found out we can pay off our Mortgage around October this year! 6 more years until we retire at 60.
That’s awesome. Once you pay off that mortgage, you will feel a huge weight off your shoulders. It is a totally different feeling once that mortgage is paid off. Congratulations keep me updated.
Hahahaa I know a whiteboard is probably only $20. But yes, that $20 can get me three days worth of food. I always overthink spending money even though it’s only $20. But if I do make some decent money on this RUclips channel buying a whiteboard, some more people enjoy my channel would be a good investment.
Do you live close enough to the arena to see a Bruins/Hurricanes game when they’re in town? That’s probably it too cheap, but it would be a fun time I bet.
I have progressive and auto owners. I have an insurance agent that I’ve been working with for the last 20 years. She tries to get me the best deal she can.
Good job... Please follow up on the how the Rule of 55 works out when appropriate. I am awaiting Jan 1,2026 for this reason. Don't believe we will use it but it is good to know it is an option.
You said it Peter " Lovin Life". And that's what's important. And after you officially retire, you can continue to save. My husband and I do because we're both conservative natured so we can't help it. Lol. Your happiness and excitement are infectious! Blessings!😊

@@retireearlywithme Sorry I commented before watching the entire video. I see that you said that at the end. I hope you enjoy your retirement. What ..no gas last month ? How about your food / drink spending ,eating out and groceries ? You don't do any driving - taking trips to town , beach, ocean, lake ?
I don’t have gas anymore in my new condo. I had gas in my old home but not my new place. Just electric. My food and drink spending comes out of my cash withdrawal from the bank. Eating out and groceries as well comes from my cash withdrawals. Gas in my car is also included in my cash withdrawals. I drive a work truck during the week so I don’t drive my personal vehicle too much.
I’m not worried. I’ve been living in and out of HOA for years now. I’d rather spend money on an HOA then taking care of a roof or siding or a lawn bushes shoveling or anything else. I’m OK with having an HOA overall. Definitely some downsides, but there’s a little give-and-take.
For sure. As of January 1, I got back on the dating apps. That’ll cut into my budget, but we’ll see. Maybe I’ll have to cut out a couple other things ha ha
You have no idea how awesome that would be. Wow that was in my mind when I started this channel. It was not the main reason. But knowing that is a possibility now to make a little bit of money from showing people how I retire early the good and the bad. Is pretty interesting.
Do you paark ya caar in Haavid Yaard? What do the North Carolina natives think of your New England accent? I hope you have researched your future Social Security benefits since they are based on your highest 35 years of earnings. If you have less than 35 year of earnings or you have some low earnings years then your benefits may be lower than they could be if you worked longer for higher pay than in your early earning years.
Yes, that’s where I parked my car. People are always giving me a hard time about my accent down here for the last 20 something years. Yes I have reached the amount of credit for years or whatever it is for Social Security. I think it’s 40 or 42 or something like that credit and I have met them. As I’ve been working since about the age of 16.
@@retireearlywithme The 40 credits are 40 quarters or 10 years of work. This is the minimum to get anything from Social Security. However your benefit is based on your highest 35 year of work. If you have less than 35 years then zeros will be part of that calculation. Create an account with Social Security and use their calculator with your earnings records to get an estimate of your benefits. Don't get a big bad surprise in the future.
First time coming across one of your videos. Congratulations on your retirement. I do have to say your video was hard to watch. Could only get through about 2-3 minutes of it. I'm sure fewer tangents, fewer snarky remarks, and more maturity would help your channel grow.

Peter congrats on your Subs growing
Whoo-hoooo. It just passed 2,000 today
Condo was a great move. Saving that $
100%. One of the better moves I have made.
Congratulations again Peter. Save that money and don’t waste it on a white board. I’m very old school and the pen and notebook works. Lol
Hahahaa I know a whiteboard is probably only $20. But yes, that $20 can get me three days worth of food. I always overthink spending money even though it’s only $20. But if I do make some decent money on this RUclips channel buying a whiteboard, some more people enjoy my channel would be a good investment.
Congratulations! Your cash account will last a long time! Enjoy your retirement.😊
That’s my plan and what I hope for. Thank you for the congratulations.
Do you live close enough to the arena to see a Bruins/Hurricanes game when they’re in town? That’s probably it too cheap, but it would be a fun time I bet.
Yes. I’ve been to a few hockey games over the years. I haven’t been to one in a while, but but yes, the arena is very close by
I enjoyed watching.
Thank you so much
Who do you get your home & auto insurance from? Mine has skyrocketed over the last few years.
I think I did another video a few months ago on the rule of 55. Once I start taking my 401(k), I’ll do a little follow up as well.
You said it Peter " Lovin Life". And that's what's important. And after you officially retire, you can continue to save. My husband and I do because we're both conservative natured so we can't help it. Lol. Your happiness and excitement are infectious! Blessings!😊
I really appreciate the support. The encouragement and the nice words. Keep doing what you are doing. Obviously it’s working for you and I’m going to as well.
Welcome to the best side of life, not sure how old you are and if you are single or not. But it is been a wonderful life since I retired.
I’ll be 55 this year and very single. Life is good now and I hope it continues into retirement.
@@retireearlywithme It will be great, stay the course :)
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Is your health insurance covered through your retirement?
I’ll be using the affordable healthcare act.
@@retireearlywithme Sorry I commented before watching the entire video. I see that you said that at the end. I hope you enjoy your retirement. It sure seems like you planned very well for 54 years old to have the low monthly budget is outstanding. I look forward to more of your videos. Take it easy you deserve it.
@ thank you so much for the words of encouragement and support. Greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful day.
No groceries or gas?
@@paporich8991 that’s included in my discretionary spending.
Great job on the budget!
Thank you very much.
Your healthcare? And future healthcare expenses?
I believe I discussed healthcare cost in the video
Income?
Over 70k and under 100k
What ..no gas last month ? How about your food / drink spending ,eating out and groceries ? You don't do any driving - taking trips to town , beach, ocean, lake ?
I don’t have gas anymore in my new condo. I had gas in my old home but not my new place. Just electric. My food and drink spending comes out of my cash withdrawal from the bank. Eating out and groceries as well comes from my cash withdrawals. Gas in my car is also included in my cash withdrawals. I drive a work truck during the week so I don’t drive my personal vehicle too much.
Way to go Peter living cheap but not roughing it.
That’s correct 👍🏻
You can definitely live cheap if one is debt free. Our bills are 1580 a month for a 5BR 5 Ba house with 2 vehicles and a class C rv
Very nice control of your bills. Yes. If you know your finances and your expenses, that’s halfway to retire retirement.
HOA monthlys are skyrocketing
I’m not worried. I’ve been living in and out of HOA for years now. I’d rather spend money on an HOA then taking care of a roof or siding or a lawn bushes shoveling or anything else. I’m OK with having an HOA overall. Definitely some downsides, but there’s a little give-and-take.
You know you've made it on RUclips when you get investing spam comments
Hahahaahah yes. I tried to delete them whenever I see them. They show up a decent amount.
What kind of life are you living on 1200 a month?
An absolutely wonderful and fulfilling one
Did I miss Health Care. 700 ?
I found it .....shit plan!
Watch the whole video as I have a portion and they are talking about healthcare as well.
Thee expenses are the funnest part, lol
😂😂😂
My opinion is never share your financial information with another soul. Never mind flashing it all over the internet.
If that works for you, that’s great
66 degrees inside is perfect
Yes!!!!!!!!!
Now you'll have more free time for dating, gotta add that to your budget!
For sure. As of January 1, I got back on the dating apps. That’ll cut into my budget, but we’ll see. Maybe I’ll have to cut out a couple other things ha ha
I retired at 56 and love it. I am now 64.
That’s awesome. Give me something to strive for. Thank you for sharing.
@ A trip through the Panama Canal for one. I can give you more. Especially if Trump gets it back. We have been three times.
That’s awesome you’re making money on RUclips. Maybe you will eventually make enough for your living expenses, how cool would that be.
@ yes. I already have my Social Security account. I am good.
Are you in an apartment?
Is a 550sf Condo 👍🏻
I don't wanna do nothing
Same here
❤
❤️❤️❤️
No need for a whiteboard. Keep it simple!
It seems like some people would like it so I might try it at some point. As long as I can get a white board cheap enough. Ha ha.
Whoo hooooi
👍🏻❤️👍🏻❤️
First time coming across one of your videos. Congratulations on your retirement. I do have to say your video was hard to watch. Could only get through about 2-3 minutes of it. I'm sure fewer tangents, fewer snarky remarks, and more maturity would help your channel grow.
Gosh I loved it. Sweetie just switch off 😂😂😂. But I’m sure he’s grateful for your comment as it grows his channel. Ta for that 😊
If I got ran rid of the tangents, snack, marks, and the immaturity, there’d be nothing left, but boredom.
Thank you for the support. I enjoy doing the videos, no matter if people enjoy them or not.
Be careful, ACA is gonna possibly change in 2026.
Possible
I think you’ve said in the past that you use the McDonald’s app. There’s usually some good deals.
I use a McDonald’s app a few times a week if not more. And there’s always great deals on there. And I always earn points. For free food. It’s one of the better apps out there if you eat out a lot like myself.
🤘🏻
🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
you can afford charitable contributions of at least a couple hundred a month
Possibility
Why don’t you donate $ 200 for him 🙄
@ 👍🏻😂💯
You don’t seem that excited about retirement 😂😂😂
👍🏻😂👍🏻😂
