Just happened across your channel. I just gave my notice of my retirement yesterday - retiring in August. But not early - that is my SSA FRA. I "retired" before in June 2017, but the called and 18 months later and asked if I would come back for a special project and I did. This time it's for keeps LOL. Other than the fact that my retirement is not early, the other difference is that I have a few other personal endeavors/pursuits/interests that will keep me busy. I am building a chopper, I am building an airplane from a kit, and I am taking flying lessons. I have lots of stuff to do. I have more retirement savings than you, and I'll have SS income, but I went with a Medicare medigap plan which is more expensive - especially in the state I am from. And I don't have RUclips income like you do.
Wow. Building a Choppa and an airplane? That is pretty cool. Nothing wrong with going back to work. I plan on taking six months a year and doing nothing. During that six months a year if I’m bored, I can always go get a part-time job. I really do not know what to expect But I’m looking forward to the journey. I know I’ll be visiting my family more and doing what I want. Thank you for sharing your story.

Retiring at 55 seems EXTREMELY risky. I would hope your nest week is a minimum of $2.5 million to keep quality of life for what could very well be 40 years! However, its a huge plus you are totally debt free, but still I would NOT be comfortable "retiring" so young!
You might want to check the numbers because yours are a bit ridiculous.

You don’t need nearly that kind of money to retire early. Debt free, low expenses living frugal makes early retirement possible for most people.
You've made the right decision when you feel good about it before and after giving notice. I knew my last two weeks after giving notice would be busy so I spent a lot of time reflecting and enjoying the time before everyone at work knew. Congrats and enjoy the unwind time.
I feel very happy I had to give him my notice. Very much at peace. Looking forward to the next chapter and journey.
Do you have thoughts on what to do when he kills The ACA as promised? When Congress does it, per his order, what are people in our age group going to do? Not trying to rain on your parade, but it’s a scary reality.
I’ll be in the same bucket as 40 million other people on the ACA. I’ll just have to eat an extra apple a day and hope for the best. Honestly, there’s nothing I can do about it. Hopefully I’ll continue to stay healthy until 65 when I can get on Medicare.

I joined the marines at 17 years old and retired at 39 and never regretted it, with the life expectancy for a man in America at 77 years old the earlier the better, trust me you are going to love it. stay frugal stay safe. the things I love the most is no fighting traffic and I don't have to worry about impressing anyone but myself. i have been retired 26 years and just turned 65 and I love everyday of it, it is like being a teenager again with no rules ,life is good wishing you the best.

Pretty funny about your work vehicle not starting on the day you were going to give your notice. Your last week will fly by next week so enjoy. I'm about 13 months behind you but time flies by.

Congratulations!!! My final date is the 29th of this month. I do maintenance at a factory with one other guy. This company knew that I wanted to retire for a year now. In September I gave them at the end of January date. All is fine but I got a week and a half left and They still don't have a replacement for me..They just placed an ad a couple days ago for a maintenance guy. WTF. The other maintenance guy is going to have hip replacement done this spring so I don't know what they are going to do. Once I leave the 29th I'm done. Not going back. They know this. I been stressed about this because I really like the other guy. He is going to be run ragged. This company been good to me for 41 years but I have just much right to retire out of there as anyone else without worring about my replacement. So who knows what is going to happen. Have a great time on your retirement. I know I am.
Wow, that’s ridiculous. I wonder why they’re not replacing you sooner getting someone in there for you to train. And that is very nice of you to worry about your coworker who you’re leaving. Try not to stress too much about it and get ready for enjoying the next half of your life.
We had a lot of maintenance guys over the years retire, and our managers did very little to nothing to make sure they trained and showed specifics tricks of the trade to the others. It's puzzling why mgmt didn't prioritize training replacements. Oh well. Somebody else's problem now!
@ All the employees don't get it either. It is a small factory that employs about 35 people and it been in business for over 100 years. I keep telling myself that is not my problem but I just hate to see this happen. All I know the 29th I'm free. LOL.

How much is your health insurance going to be?
I’ve done a lot of other videos on how much my healthcare will be. I’ll be using the ACA and it will be free. For healthcare. About $10 a month for dental.

@@crimsonpearl4686 its free if he only shows around $210000 a yr. income. He's debt free and his planned expenses are minimal. He does have out of pocket maximum hospitalization expenses if something major happens. But he has around $500k to live on and cover those expenses if need be. He's down sized and done his homework considering early retirement. Trust me he's good , congrats Peter enjoy while your still healthy and can do things.

Good job... Please follow up on the how the Rule of 55 works out when appropriate. I am awaiting Jan 1,2026 for this reason. Don't believe we will use it but it is good to know it is an option.
