He's actually got a gorgeous sound, almost a kind of 'romantic' ragtime feel.
I suppose it's the show tunes. Really enjoyed his Annie song, 'you're never fully dressed without a smile'...

Unfortunately, Disney has ruined this wonderful element of Main Street by only hiring part time musicians. In the past the they had true musical entertainers like Rod Miller and Johnny Hodges. Micheal is a decent musician, but his is a small show tunes style instead of the great outgoing style that defined the Coke Corner ragtime/honky tonk style. If they made an offer to someone like Adam Swanson, they could have less piano bar and more ragtime! End of rant.

So… Were the former musicians hired as full time piano players?

@@amazingheroart yes, Rod Miller was full time with John Hodges being part time during the winter and full time during the extended summer hours. Alan Thompson and Jonny May were the relief pianists.
