When he said all he needs is the “cat and the book and the music” I knew he was a fellow introvert. His writing is comforting and alien, he knows something important. You live through his words.
Everyone likes cats and books and music. That is not an introvert thing
I've fallen in love with this man's mind
for real. his mind is beauty and wonder incarnate
pathetic
This is the first time I’ve heard him speak, period. Wow. Surreal :O
i can't stop smiling just by looking at this man omg
Nguyên Nguyễn why :)
can you be sad while looking at something you like?
i feel you :)
You can tell Murakami is a brilliant man. Loves those female ears, though! He's one of the good guys, and I'm glad he decided to start writing at 30. Living proof that it's NEVER too late to follow your dreams.
@H. H Iam not crap btw LOl
Female ears? LOL what
30 is like a newborn for writers.
Panthers That's from his novel :)
@Scarlet Mary W. Shelley finished the immortal gothic classic Frankenstein aged 20, and started writing it when she was just 18. And then Shelley wrote more books in her lifetime, but all of them were worse, meaning she wrote her best when she had little experience of the world. I agree most authors write their best book when they are over 30, but there are always exceptions!
I am in love with this guy's writing and way of thinking
sure whatever
I’ve been reading his works for past 15 years and hearing his voice for the first time. World difference from how I imagined him to be my whole life.
have you read his 1q84?
In a good or bad way?
By looking at his eyes and the way he speaks, his whole aura, you can feel how his imagenatory realm is a whole different world. A crazy restless loud world. Noise and colours and confusion of how to interpret them all down... so we're left with little expression by his books despite they're many... it saddens me we can't know all the stories and thoughts he thinks of endlessly and maddens me I can never get into that world of his :/
Thank you, Murakami. For the pleasure. You're my favorite contemporary writer, and one day in future someone will say you're one of their favorites in history.
i like how he kind of sighs and shakes his head after saying "the cats"
He helps my mind calm. I channel his characters and I feel more at ease in all sorts of situations. Thank you for giving me peace in life. I love you Haruki.
Will try this. Thank you.
Murakami's writing is music!!!
i love him so much.he makes my day better and bearable.
My favourite contemporary writer! Not only that his works are amazing, but also they are relatable to the core.I think that he has managed to say everything that we have ever felt or exeperienced but never knew how to express it.
So far I think this is the only video of an interview to Murakami in english or spanish. great post amigo
I'm alone in the house. So, I have three things to help me, the cat, the books and the music.
Thanks Murakami for the outstanding novels .. your books are my world . Love you
He's precious.
Chapeau!!!
I enjoyed the Ushikawa chapters tremendously. He is such a sympathetic character. I felt so bad when Tamaru attacked Ushikawa in his sleep.
He is superb!
Thank you for making this video
Que hermoso que tenga subtitulos en español!!!
He's amazing. I just read about him in a TIME article about 10 years ago. Picked up his (unborrowed) book from a library. And I've been a fan since then!
love him so much!!
My hero.
7:15 pm 11/26/19 my first time listening to Murakami's voice.
Haha... the guy leaning into the frame, and someone he knows sees what he's doing and he smiles a little bit guilty. That just made my day.
Oh wow! Nice post! I've been a pretty big fan of Murakami-San since last year, after reading his name on the back of a book by yoko ogawa. I looked him up and immediately fell in love. One of my favorite authors by far. And his english is pretty impressive. He gets my props! :3
around 60 years old at the time of the interview.
I love you, Mr. Haruki Murakami! Be healthy and happy doing what you love to do! 💜
Un grandissimo scrittore, uno dei più grandi. Grazie maestro Murakami!
his english is good
He was in english degree at university and his first job at publisher field was actually as a literary translator, not as an author.
No wonder his English is astonishingly good.
It's not. He's intermediate: slow delivery and many grammar mistakes.
omg I need to hug him, I love his way of writing, it's so strange but beautiful.
Just finished Wind-Up Bird. Amazing story. Hard Boiled Wonderland awaits then IQ awaits. Thanks for posting.
I know this is a bit late, but have finished it all?
all his books are great he is my favourite author
he´s a fantastic writer!
I've read both ''Norwegian wood'' and ''after dark''... Two fantastic books!
he is such a cutie
My favorite author!
I've been searching this interview, the complete version, anyone has a link of it?
I have first listened to The Wind Up Bird Chronicle. I will listen to you.
Kindred spirit. I wish I knew someone like him in “real life”
Amazing human!!! 💗☝😊
MURAKAMI you the best)
vatanabe midori >3
he is the best..!!!
Hes so sweet omg
so this is the beautiful soul that wrote the seventh man.. sigh, i enjoy his mind and the way it works so.. thought provokingly.
Cet homme est la perfection.
1Q84 is the best book I've read.
oi mate, wan catchup?!
That's exactly how i imagined Nakata from "Kafka on the shore" would talk.
Love you so much
MURAKAMI i love you
Man his voice 😌
que libros tan profundos ha escrito.
This is a very rare and nice video! i'm japanese and read his novels in japanese. but he seldom speaks in front of japanese media...
He’s so cute
I'm Japanese and I was surprised that Haruki Murakami is loved so much by people around the world seeing those comments.
What of him attracts you guys? Of course I love his book too, just question
1 Universal themes.
2 Mix of magic and realism.
3 Fascination with Japan.
Japan and his style
1. His written style.
2. His charaters.
3. The stories.
4. He is a big inspiration for me, as young storyteller.
5. Themes.
I was suprised that he can speak English!!笑
I, too, don't listen to music (can't listen to music) if I wanted to take my writing seriously. But the nature always helps me and the birds, but not the cars and human laughters. Anything human made hurts my ears...
Cats, books and music ❤
Beautiful Mind
I wish to meet Murakami. I want to be face to face with him talking ! Maybe have coffee together, or lunch.
Is there a full version of this Q&A session?
this man is genius..
I like him
si love this man i love what he wrote i like thoughts him i like kafka on the shore i do not know wath i say now but all of thought
in my mind about him is i like this man . by the way i have analysis about kafka on the shore is not analysis espeically but ....it is
impression in general
any people wanna read or see the impression he writes to me on and i will send him
Murakami is great.
Grandísimo! !
When I got to book three I was surprised to find out that Murakami made chapters from Ushikawa's POV. Those chapters were great. Though I really felt sorry for him when Tamaru killed him!
And I don't know if you know this or not, but Ushikawa appeared in The Wind-up Bird Chronicle! So can you imagine what was my reaction when he appeared in 1Q84?!
Though I enjoyed 1Q84 but not as much as Kafka on the Shore and The Wind-up Bird Chronicle. Norwegian Wood is good as well.
His english is very good.
My favorite writer. Where is your Nobel prize?🌚
Kafka on the shore would be amazing as a senin manga. hhah
my love kurapika 💙
OMG I'm really sorry! I thought everyone here has read the novel!
💙
Where is the full interview
He speaks really good English.
and then nods his head after "the music"
So many kinda musics
Hello, do people not understand this man? I admire his books because he is analysing how those "nerdy" bastards downstairs corner what they call a "nerd" in a way that is it folks, plus he has gotten more into "nerdy" headcases talk as he has got older. His writing is aimed at both teachers and pupils who are interested in sexual hygiene.
.....Aomame....
Where i can find the complete interview?
I don't understand how he says he doesn't listen to music when he writes here, but on his website he says he almost always listens to music WHEN he writes? Does anyone know anymore info on this??
perhaps a translation problem?
KujiCollection he listens to music while writing to feel less 'alone', it's less solitary that way, but when he writes he concentrates on the text and not the music. The music is there but more as a background sound. (I do the same while writing my novels)
Where's the rest of the interview?
hello murakami. Im from mongolia. =)
nice interview but why the rising sun flag profile pic ?
Poor Murakami would have won Nobel if he was a woman, or a black, or an homosexual, etc.
is he my soul brother? haha!! I love cats! and have no brothers..not a writer though haha
i read a book of murakami sleeping williw and boom.. im now an instant fan.. cant wait to read d rest.. any recommendations??
Dance, Dance, Dance
Norwegian Wood!
Read Kafka on the Shore. I first read Blind Willow, Sleeping Woman also. Kafka touched me in a similar way. I've read 3 other of his books too. But I recommend Kafka on the Shore first.
running
He's my favorite writer, but his Spanish is a bit disappointing
Murakami's T-shirt is so sexy. Love it.
Is there any video where he speaks japanese?
