Two Dylans in one frame? They say it couldn't be done. You proved them wrong and you showed an AWESOME hack for creating custom roles 🔥 so freaking cool, brother!
Thanks a lot! I tried the template thing and could also from there asign an own caption role (srt swedish in my case) Now I just have to figure out if I could get rid of the iTT-english default caption and have my own srt as soon as I start making captions.
Great video Brad. I have a question. My video roles that I am having in connected clip (2nd videotrack) when they have different color FC doesn't allow me to apply transition between them. Is there any "trick" to be apple to apply transitions etc for that?
If it is one the second track and you want to transition between that and the clip below, you will probably need to lift the bottom clip from the primary storyline and trim it so that you can add the transition between the,. You could create a secondary storyline by selecting both clips and hitting Cmd G. Then you can add the transition between the clips.
Brad, do you think we can set up a shortcut for speed? Imagine how easy would be to have a keyboard shortcut for 40% of the speed (60fps on a 24fps timeline).
For that specific example you could use the “Automatic Speed” feature to change 60fps to 24fps (40% speed). Automatic speed can be assigned to a custom shortcut in the Final Cut Pro menu without needing to set up a shortcut in System Preferences. 😄👍🏼
@@Brad_West My bad. I have this one and I use all the time lol. I was thinking more about when I'm adjusting the speed ramping when I can't do auto speed for everything so I have to go to custom, write 40% or 80% and hit enter.
@@RaphaelBellizziFilms I see what you're saying! I don't think setting it to a custom value like that is possible unfortunately. I would love to be proven wrong if anyone knows a way to do it.
Great tips Brad! Thanks! Strangely the custom shortcut for Show Horizon works great with FCP in English but not with FCP in French.… I tried several times, but nothing worked. Does anyone have any idea why?🤔
I didn't even consider what it might be like for other languages. Have you tried entering the French version in the Keyboard settings when you create the shortcut?
@@Brad_West Yes of course I did but it doesn't works, that's weird… When I turn FCP in english its works well , but not with FCP in French (with the French version for the Keyboard settings of course). 🤷♂
@@fyl_k I see. Very strange! Might be worth submitting feedback to Apple about that to see if that is something they add in future. Thanks for letting me know!
@@Brad_West if I follow your instructions, maybe the spanish youtube translator is not exact. Once I have defined the colors I use for video and audio I don't see in FCP the option of saving them and saving them.
You have to save that library with the roles somewhere (like the movies folder) and then you can use that as a template for future projects. I mention how in the video.

when you make your temple: how do you name it? and how do you assign a place to keep it?.
Sometimes you have to learn to teach. thanks anyway! .
I explained how to create the assets within the template and I showed exactly where to save it (Movies folder) and how to use it. 🤷🏻♂️
