- Hello dear ones,
This week has been very very difficult to say the least. With a significant portion of the world going back into lockdown and strict self-isolation policies being reinforced here in Portland, I think we're all, to put it simply, exhausted. Who's worried about the holidays? I certainly am, but I'm trying my best to not fear the future. There's plenty of good in today and that's worth far more than the "what-if's" of tomorrow.
This week I tried to be more productive (a task that is becoming increasingly difficult) and it went...okay : ) I also stayed up way too late, laughed often, and delighted in the vibrant hues of Autumn in Portland. Oh, and I talked a great deal about my relationship with money-- thank you so much sharing it all with me, friend 💛

Firstly, the editing in this video is gorgeous! Secondly, higher education is free in Norway and I'm so grateful for that. I would not have been able to get my bachelor's or master's if that wasn't the case. It's simply unfair that higher education isn't accessible. If you have the grades you should be able to go regardless of how much money your family has. You really have made the best of the situation, and I admire that. Also, grad school is so intense, especially during covid. Lots of procrastination and crying involved, so if you were to go later in life you would be prepared haha.
I loved hearing your story about school, money and your dream to become a youtuber! It's always so inspiring to hear other creatives reach their goal and be doing what they love!

Im working on paying my student loans while also barely making ends meet. but it was really touching to see someone talk about actual problems like these within the booktube community because people rarely do and focus more on consumerism and the lavish lifestyle. Thank you for inspiring us and making us believe that your passion can lead you to good opportunities too. I hope someday my creative bug gets me as happy and fulfilled and self-sufficient as it has made you today.

Thank you so much for your comforting and beautiful and heart-warming videos. I'm currently just a little more than a year away from completing my master's degree in France, and most of us here are lucky enough to not have to get huge loans to study at state-funded universities (most of them are practically "free"), but because of Covid everything has become so stressful and filled with uncertainty, and I'm not sure what employment will be like after I get my degree. I'm so so happy you get to do what you love and live comfortably, it's so inspiring ! Omg same!! I feel like I cannot stay focused at all. And I feel like even when I was just on instagram, I will close out of it but then minutes later be right back on it!! Like nothing has changed in the 5 minutes since you have been on it! I work from home now too and have been since March as well. I work 9-6 but it just feels like even at work I’m not focused. And then when I’m not working that’s literally all I’ve been doing. Instagram and RUclips. It’s really frustrating because I’m aware it’s happening but I’m not stopping myself lol
It's SO frustrating, isn't it?? Some people have suggested I look into "Digital Minimalism" and I think I'm going to give it a go! Anything is better than this. I'd really like to be more mindful of how I use my phone.
@@MorganLong ya I finally just set the time limit for the apps on my phone. It’s embarrassing when I see that I’ve been on my phone for hours and hours. There was a day I was on instagram for 4 hours!! Like how is that even possible? Lol so I just set the time limits and I’m gunna give that a go .... thank you for that suggestion!
Your story is so deeply relatable to mine. I have been a full time independent artist for six years and it has been crazy and exhausting and painful and wonderful. I am so inspired by your story as well. And also grateful to you for giving me one of my biggest passions, (writing and reading), back! I also generally work 7 days a week, very long hours especially since the Pandemic demolished my main income source. But we got this. We truly can and will overcome. So much good energy to you for your health and endeavors! I know you will continue to thrive ♡

I'm a junior in college, growing more and more scared by the day of money and my future. I have so many dreams and I give them time and energy, but it always feels like those dreams are impossible and that I'll have to give them up at some point and give all my time to the options in front of me that only fill me with dread. I understand what you are saying about working in the service industry and not always getting treated well. I work in health care and my goodness, I'm amazed at how many people think it's perfectly fine to treat health care workers very rude and disrespectful. I appreciate your sharing your journey. I think your hard times have helped to make you a humble, down-to-earth person. I very much understand how difficult it is to start out with no financial support. I started the same way, as I do not come from money. My husband and I have worked very, very hard to have everything that we do have. WE are now in our mid-forties and it has taken over 20 years to become financially secure and pay off our home etc. etc. We've always lived very frugal and been content with less than what society tries to convince us we need. So thak you for sharing, your hard work, frugality, and determination will pay off!

Your talk touches my heart so much. Here in France due to covid the government's decisions are increasing the number of poor people and had put people in such terrible situations. I honor you for being vulnerable and talking about a topic (money) that is so tabou in our western world because it is the reason of a lot of our social ills. It is horrible how the U.S. system puts you in debt just for wanting an education or health insurance (being from Slovakia where university is for free and health insurance mandatory and universal), I myself graduated only two years ago but both me and my husband are lucky to be working jobs that pay well and are not affected by covid(yet), I hope your long hours will not last forever and you will get the quality of life you deserve based on the great talent and skill you have. About your procrastination tendencies; which are a result of subconscious stress, are you by any chances a perfectionist? in fact maybe you procrastinate because you're "afraid" you won't reach expectations and do a good work, which will lead into procrastinating as a way of protecting yourself, at least that's how the brain works, it avoids doing what will bring you pain.

This made me think of a quote from iyanla vanzant - if the universe gives you the vision, the universe will give you the provision. I really feel that when we set that intention like you did with the should/ must book, the universe rushes up to support you.
I had no idea all of this was going on when I first found you on RUclips, probably about a year ago.
I am also lucky to be in a country where I've paid back my much smaller student loan and have free healthcare. We also have 4 weeks of leave as standard in the UK. 2 is not enough!
This also made me count my blessings a lot too. I've started my dream, I'm creating as much as I can, and one day I hope I'll be doing it full time too.
