  • Tchaikovsky's Sixth Symphony was recorded three times by Leonard Bernstein: in 1953, 1964, and 1987. The stark differences between them, particularly in the final movement, are not without reason. Morris Lang, a former New York Philharmonic timpanist and percussionist who took part in the recording, explained why.
About BERNSTEIN INSIGHT: A Glimpse of Genius
Leonard Bernstein, one of the most well-known, gifted, and influential musicians in classical music history, captures the hearts of musicians and audiences worldwide as conductor, composer, collaborator, and mentor. This series delves into Leonard Bernstein's multifaceted genius as told by fellow musicians who are profoundly inspired by him and have had the honour of crossing paths with him - both professionally and personally.

Thank you for your Insight. It's not politically correctly sexual but it's pleasantly and authentically musically correct, just the way Bernstein and most of the rest of us would want it.

@baxtercol "It's not politically correctly sexual.." What on earth do you mean please explain this weirdly written statement please!

I'm sorry. I didn't explain it very well but I was thinking of and referring to the difference between this content and the predominant content of the movie Maestro. The movie's emphasis is on Bernstein's sexual orientation while his music seems to take a back seat whereas this content doesn't deal with the politically correct theme of sexual orientation but with the specifics of Bernstein's music. Specifically, this content here deals with concrete differences in musical recordings. I was commenting that I am of the opinion that this is preferable even though it may not be politically correct.

@@baxtercol What a load of absolute nonsense, comparing the pathetique with Maestro the film, this is indeed the most ridiculous waffle it does not even make one word of sense in English let alone anysense at all.

@@sarahjones-jf4pr I agree. Let's just keep listening to and learning from Bernstein and leave second-rate politically correct Cinema to others.
