- In this demo I'm drawing with my Opus 88 fountain pen while being chased by a monster truck driven by a four year old. Yes its that video that RUclips has been missing! I chat about some linework and cross hatching while drawing trees as well as having a play with some new water soluble graphite pencils. A fun drawing!

Never had the pleasure of drawing with a four year old and a monster truck, but I have had cats who have felt the need to "help" by stealing my pencils, erasers, and any other small, portable accessories.
The drawing looks great as it is. You can see the blues even in the black and white, I don't think you need to add them.
Thank you for a great video.
Thanks so much for your kind words. My dog has a super load bark that always makes me jump. Perfect for when you doing detailed paining 🤣. We had cats that would get into everything. Washing machines, shower and even your food.
When my son was younger (he's 20 now), we kept an art/nature-journal together. Your video brought up very lovely memories ❤
That is awesome! They are only little for such a short time. I keep telling myself to appreciate every day. Even when they are bending my brain 🤣
I absolutely love this vlog! Your son adds the extra dimension!
Thank you so much!!
This is great! I have a river near me with trees on both banks and have been planning a few paintings around that. This is so informative! And I love that you have a monster truck wielding artist helping you! 😍😍 - Shannon.sketches
Glad it was helpful! It's a great approach to just simplify the drawing into layer. The monster truck goes everywhere with it. It's his favourite. 😂
I like it just as it is. Great sketch. 👍
Thanks. These comment really make my day.
The ink sketch is superb! The dull picture has been turned into a beautiful b.& w. artwork! Thanks
Thank you very much!
That’s too cute 😂
He is an absolute cherub 👼 😍
Trzeba sobie radzić:)
Gratuluje ojcowstwa
Thanks so much. Kids are so much fun till evening. Then it's nice to have the off to bed and some peace.
Beautiful
Thank you! Cheers!
This is a fantastic drawing. You should have done it at normal speed. If you could possibly do a single tree like in normal speed! Pretty please! :P
Thanks for the idea! And yes a few people have said that. It may be a few weeks but I'm on it!!!
@@dougjacksonart Many thanks in advance!
Superb. Really love it. That subtle hint of colour is just enough. I also ask if you could possibly do a single tree like in normal speed. Thank you for sharing.
Great idea! I need to do some more tree studies 🙂
Hello from sunny Mirfield, not a million miles away from you. My favourite picture so far! Your helper did such a good job :) hi Ivor! I don’t think this one needed colour anyway.. they don’t always do they? I’m a beginner in all this art malarkey and you have taught me so much. Some of my stuff is utter crap (well most of it actually!) but that’s not holding me back and I learn something new with every attempt ( and then often make the same mistake again in the next one, doh) you make it all look so easy but I’ll keep on trying. Thanks Doug you’re a star :)
Thanks for your lovely kind comments. I mean this sincerely when I say that comments like yours keep my creativity charged up. As a beginner artist you can learnt the fundamentals and develop you style is all sorts of exciting ways. I'll post a couple of vid reccomendation you may find very useful.

Really great sketch,I love cross hatching!Would it have been an option to have done a blue wash prior to drawing?I do think it’s perfect as it is nice and subtle!👍🏻Now Doug, were you never taught not to play near traffic as a child?!!😆Lovely little helper you have there!❤
Great suggestion and yes that would have worked. First time using these water soluble pencils so my process got a bit mixed up. Super learning experience though. He is a terror with that truck 🚚. A super cute terror 🤣
