Super excited to see you doing ALL of the games, not just AOE4 and whatever's new. I am super jazzed they did a real re-release of these older AOE games, not just a cheap HD Re-release. They're great, I love the UI and gameplay improvements. I'm sure it rustled a lot of jimmies in competitive but it looks to me like they left in a lot of options to play on pure legacy if you want to.
Thank you, I appreciate that. I will be re-running AoE4 but it makes sense to start at the beginning and run the full series whilst we wait for more Age of Mythology retold content. I genuinely enjoy playing older games, both from a nostalgia perspective but its interesting to see how the games and series have evolved over time. I agree that the Definitive edition remasters seem to be good quality remasters, and not just a cash grab like so many game series have done previously.
Never played the OG age of empires, it's almost a bit of...nostalgic nostalgia? Like I missed something from my childhood. Granted religious zealot parents ensuring ANYTHING not G rated is banned didn't help.
Haha indeed, well the remaster certainly plasters over some of the issues from the original game like pathing. Whilst I did play some Age of Empires in my childhood, I don't remember a whole lot, other than the game was far too difficult for young me to handle. I gave up after many hours of banging my head against the brick wall that was the original Age of Empires. Yeah that's unfortunate, although I don't recall this game having a very high age limit (PEGI 12) apparently. Also enjoy the ride of how old games used to play and the lack of modern mechanics haha. Although the original was about 5x times worse haha
