Salvage pathway involved in the conversion of free purines to nucleotides is called salvage pathway. It consists of a single reaction
Free purine bases (adenine, guanine and hypoxan­thine) are formed in cells during the metabolic degradation of nucleic acids and nucleotides which are salvaged and used over again to remake purine nucleo­tides.
Lesch-Nyhan Syndrome
Inherited X-linked recessive disorder, that affects only males.
It is caused by a complete deficiency of HGPRTase, an enzyme which is involved in purine salvage pathway
