- This is how to override the automatic electric park brake on a Jeep Renegade, this is a 2015 model. This puts it in service mode or maintenance mode so that you can work on the rear brakes or the rear end for whatever reason that you need or if you just need to move the car around with the ignition off. This should work for other models with the same setup

Really worked and first time through. Your presentation is amazing
You’re welcome thanks
Thanks for this!! 🎉
You’re welcome thanks
Thank you, it helps me. My company vehicle locked up..
Great video thank you, I added your video to my video discription so people can see how the parking brake is deactivated.
You’re welcome thanks
Thanks a lot sir!

Thank you so much this worked for me 🙏🏾🙏🏾 I use my car for Uber eats so I was panicking when it wouldn’t turn off 😪
You’re welcome thanks

Thank you very much!!! I was just panicking also. Your method worked on my 2017 Jeep Cherokee North edition.
Dude I move too quick, you saved me 8 times
Will taking the handbrake off like this allow you to reset the rear pistons after changing brake pads or will it have to be by ECU tool/ computer? Thanks
You should be able to work on the rear brakes while it’s like this. After replacing pads pump the pedal up so it’s solid to reset the pistons first.
This also works to override the automatic parking brake feature on any Mercedes-Benz which has the EPB set everytime the transmission is placed in park and the driver's door is opened without the seatbelt fastened or the engine is turned off.
That’s good. I’ve since found it works on all sorts of makes and models.
@@redram52 yeap it works
Is there a way to permanently disable the EPB, but still be able to manually use the parking brake if needed? I live in a slushy, snowy winter climate, and would rather have the parking brake system froze in the disengaged position if it gets wet and freezes since I have a parking pin in my transmission.
Thanks for this tutorial. This is much quicker than going through the dash menu to do garage work.
Yes press the + on beside your radio go to settings go down to brakes than press auto parking brake than turn off it will never come on by itself again unless you press the button yourself
@@jamesstewart3327 I did that, but it feels like my brakes still hang up for about a second when I try to move out of my garage right after starting and then they release. Just for shigrins, I shifted to neutral and tied to drift down a slight grade in our parking lot, and the stupid EPB still came on automatically even though I have it turned off in the settings. Why can't they just sell us cars instead of damned robots???
@@jamesstewart3327 I, just done this
@@EMTRailfan exactly wtf smh
That was helpful as service brake function won't work. But daaaamn I hate working on jeeps
You’re welcome thanks
Worst brake design! I never in my life had so much trouble just replacing pads on my daughter’s Jeep Cherokee. I would never buy a Jeep/Dodge/Chrysler product!
Hi there, wonder if you can help me, I’ve got the check electronic parking break (yellow hand break light) it only comes up every 2-3 days but stays on for 2-3 days, any advice
Ps I’ve had a new battery as my old one was over 8 years old as read that might have also not helped
Thanks in advance
You’ll probably need to plug in a diagnostic device to see what’s going on.
Hi, how do you reactivate the EPB. Just had mine serviced and the mechanics forgot to reactive the EPB
It should reactivate the next time you cycle the ignition off/on as shown at the end of the video. If it’s not reactivated try doing this override procedure and see if it sorts itself out. 👍
How do you turn the "Service Park Brake" off? My car is stuck in my driveway. I think I let the battery run too low, now it's stuck in that mode. I disconnected the battery cable for a few hours but no luck.
You’ll need a reasonable amount of power back in the battery and it should then work as before
Dont you need to calibrate the epb after you are done?
On many cars it is a bit of a procedure to calibrate with the computer. Is the Renegade epd so simple you do not need a calibration.
This is just how to keep it off when you switch off. It’s not a process to wind back the pistons. When you cycle the ignition it returns to normal. This procedure works on many makes and models with EPB’s.
What's the button on the left for ? I know the one on the right is the traction control
It's the auto stop/start deactivation
Thanks for this. I had to replace my rear right caliper due to a botched brake job, my mistake but I learned what not to do, and the emergency brake was displaying an error and not engaging. I used this truck to cycle it a few times and then it started to work and the error went away.
Glad to help. Thanks
Didn't work for me
Yeah. It's not working for me.
