unsafe workplace, hell ya. wrongful termination? No way. Her instructions were almost surely to give up the money and not place yourself in harms way. Instead she refused to give up subways money, and then attacked an armed robber and confessed to it on the news. Besides, sadly, this is America, they can fire you anytime they want for any reason they want other than race or religion, unless you have a contract that says otherwise.

That woman is awesome! If I owned a business she's exactly the type of employee that I'd want. You don't get paid enough, & it would NEVER be enough no matter how much, to take crap off customers. There's a time to be polite & accommodating & then there's the time to say you're not welcome in this establishment. I've worked for many bosses who felt as I do, great employers. And to stand up for yourself against a moron with a gun? Badass woman needs a better employer.
I don’t think subway is that stupid. Mostly liability reason. Things and money can be replaced not human lives. Fighting back has two opposite outcomes. One is you are alive and a hero. The other outcome is you are dead. Not fighting back has one outcome. Things get stolen but you are alive. If you expect your employees to risk their lives to defend your stores, you are not a very good employer. And if the result is the bad outcome, your business would get destroyed by lawsuits.

@@texxs01 I worked for Subway for over 10 years so very familiar with this situation. I think it is crazy to risk your life to protect someone getting away with a couple of hundred dollars. Employees are to do "cash drops" into a locked safe regularly to keep potential loss due to theft from the till at a minimum!! However, instead of firing someone it is appropriate to have a discussion of what happened and how to handle it better next time. After all, this employee may have risked her life to protect the owner's money!! Why would an owner fire her for that???

A couple years back two people tried to rob the taco bell on w 117th in Cleveland, the employees were packing their own and managed to take out one of them, never heard of they caught the other. They were heroes!

I boycotted Subway long ago for their "Cancel Culture" policies. When two people were robbed and killed in a Subway three years ago, Subway told they family that they could not be held responsible and refused to help with the funeral arrangements.

So in Subway's eyes, they would like to have an employee dead in the lobby than have a live one saving her life AND protecting their business at the same time.
There are so many news stories where the employee or employees are the victims of theses crimes in these fast food businesses. In some cases, the employee(s) are found dead in either the back room of the business or will be found dead in the lobby. She should just leave Subway because it is oblivious that they do not care about her life whatsoever. She should also sue them as well.
In moments like that people do one of three things. Fight, flee, or freeze. Unless a person trains for it... the reaction will be involuntary. That store is about to get a dose of cancel culture.
