New to me My Sister has been telling me for years to broaden my music taste. I wasn't ready BUT at 40 soon to be 41 I can honestly appreciate this upper echelon of music No more reality rap except in traffic Just being honest
I'm glad I found your comment i was about to write exactly that! that exact same glory, I felt in those drums! Back in the day we called these jazzy beats with them drum beats "intelligent drum and base" So miss those days, i actually can't find them tunes around today sadly. This is close but sax is missing, love the sound of him playing piano, but piano aside the drummer is amazing. Perfect combo.
Well, that might be because you've never looked. It turns out there are TONS of drummers on youtube and elsewhere doing drum 'n bass patterns, and several live drum 'n bass bands.
Yeah, that superimposed "Boogaloo" style rhythm pattern from the drummer against piano and the bass changes creates a nice tension and that bass droppin' those magnificent "bombs" every now and again hits me in the boo boo...WHEW!!!
ROBERT GLASPER you are so talented. Your music puts me in a comfortable vibe. When i have alot on my mind and even when i travel I listen to you. You are so blessed
the way glasper Implies those outside lines with both hands(around the 5 minute mark) sounds like two people having one epiphany and verbalizing it at the exact same time..genius!!
Subtle ... Music that engages you. Robert Glasper said that he leaves little areas of incompleteness in his work, so that the mind steps in and fills in the gaps. Very thoughtful. I hope that this album gets re-released as the audio CD has such a 'Boom' from the bass section that it blocks off certain nuances in the instruments.
+Paul van de Calseijde Colenburg's groove on this tune bears some resemblance to what Quest plays at the end of that track. I wonder if that might have given Glasper the idea. Kind of makes me want to see a collaborative project with the Roots and Glasper.
I thought Mark would play with the trio since Chris Dave used to play with both groups. I listened to the full Covered album and realized that Glasper wanted his original trio.
Uno de los más increíbles músicos que he escuchado y sin ninguna duda I dont even care es uno de mis temas favoritos y de paso decir que soy adicto a Robert Glasper, Covered, Canvas, Doble Booked, In My Element por nombrar algunos, simplemente cuando uno escucha a Robert Glasper escucha jazz del más alto nivel, que duda cabe.
For those cutting their teeth on this style the Glasper Trio is a great group to start with; within this genre. Jazz is feeling alive with every emotion and just freely expressing your songs within songs. I love this tune!
Robert G. is the dude as far as I'm concerned. One more awesome great, in a looonnnng live of greats and equally important "innovators" The radio and music industry has changed, but don't be fooled as I was so sadly mistaken for a moment or two. There are "STILL" Amazing, gifted, dedicated, talented, innovative artist out there. This young man is one "PERFECT" example of that. Though he's been on the scene a while now. So good to see him finally getting his just due. He and many others have taken the baton and have evolved the art form to a higher level. I can remember as a young child sitting on my Dad's lap listening to the Grand Masters of his day. Duke, Count, Dizzy, Miles, so many others. Would love to see the jazz neo soul artist of today do a picture like the one done back in the day, called a great day in Harlem. Over 100 jazz artist in that picture during the heyday of bebop. Keep making it happen RG. You are musically fearless.
Love how he drops a lil Erykah Badu @ 6:43 for a hot minute
Robert Glasper - Piano, Vicente Archer - Bass, Damion Reid - Drums
Thank you....I was trying to find who the other members were

Just being honest
The drum guy is out off this world traped in his own world and mostly fantastic.
He's Damion Reid bafo.
Idimoni! 🔥😅
Is that Chris Dave or someone else?
@@siyambonani8802 Damian Reid is the monster drummer (if I spelled it right). And yes, Chris Dave is King Kong as well
I what be what time it is
Please wake up❤
Omg...the best ❤❤❤❤
Never heard anyone pull off drum 'n bass drumming in reality. That's some effin' talent. Hats off.
I'm glad I found your comment i was about to write exactly that! that exact same glory,

Richard Spaven 👀
@@nestorfromage2940 I Love Richard Spaven . Yussef Dayes is a beast also.

So lucky to have witnessed him and his amazing musical accompaniments in Toronto in 2016. If he's coming to your city please go to feel what I felt.
Yeah, that superimposed "Boogaloo" style rhythm pattern from the drummer against piano and the bass changes creates a nice tension and that bass droppin' those magnificent "bombs" every now and again hits me in the boo boo...WHEW!!!
Them drums make me want to skate in an empty park❤
Hi Glasper.....just know that you’ll be remembered like other greats of music and jazz.
Tell Damion that we think he’s a beast on the drum
A phenomenal, incomparable artist. Robert Glasper is a legend who produces the most ethereal, incredible music in the Milky Way galaxy.

Simply and utterly sublime...blissing me right out ❤

Can't get enough of this. True inspiration right here!
Jazz in its purest art form. Incomprehensible to most
Jazz...one of the few truths to be found here eh ? ..the language of the divine..
I wish I was the ivory under his finger mesmerized by every stroke of genius.
Glasper as ethereal and on point as always
How this channel only has 97K subs is beyond me.
This is musical genius at work.
My Brother, You Are Phenomenal! Very Inspirational!!
Pure genius
Amazing artists, thank god for these people. Absolutely brilliant.
6:43 prepare yourself for a "You got me - Roots and Erykah Badu" quote
+Paul van de Calseijde Ahh, it was bugging me, I couldn't remember where I had heard that part before. Thank you haha
+Paul van de Calseijde Colenburg's groove on this tune bears some resemblance to what Quest plays at the end of that track. I wonder if that might have given Glasper the idea. Kind of makes me want to see a collaborative project with the Roots and Glasper.
Oh, I thought Colenburg had been with Glasper since Chris Dave left. Thanks for the correction.
Colenburg is the drummer of the Robert Glasper Experiment, this is his trio and it is indeed Damion Reid. Both incredible drummers
I thought Mark would play with the trio since Chris Dave used to play with both groups. I listened to the full Covered album and realized that Glasper wanted his original trio.
I love how you play together as one.Its awesome 😎.being in that flow is the best.PEACE.
From Cuba. Thank you for you inspiration. Good jazz.

Absolutely beautiful. Gotta love those very subtle hip-hop sensibilities.
Magnifique de bout en bout!Pas mal aussi le subtile petit clin d'oeil à You Got Me

Give us all some , for loving and respecting great jazz! Who does this in 2019?
Reminds me so much of Hancock, Carter, and Williams but a new dimension, a new paradigm, - new genius - such is Jazz
He'll be forever great!
Magnifique
Oh how this song makes me care so much for the vibe the beat lays on my soul..
Well said
