    I remember Franco-American, it was really good, and why did Chef Boyardee stop making their spaghetti dinner in a box, it was much better than canned.

    I hated it too ..but my father use to take fresh ground beef and chopped onions and pound it with salt and pepper and do that up in a pan first, drain just some of the grease off, and then mix in two cans of Franco\American spaghetti and blend that in to it. and serve it to us with two slices of buttered bread and a crisp pickle and sometimes s charge of cottage cheese on the side wicked good

      @@kdawg7736 Cottage cheese on the side is an antiquated thing to serve on the side with a meal. My mother used to do it all the time and so did many restaurant's. There is one restaurant that I know of that still does it, they haven't changed the menu since 1959.

    This commercial was first seen around 1965, before "SpaghettiO's" were introduced. Campbell Soup Company marketed Franco-American spaghetti beginning in the '30s, expanding the brand over the years to include canned gravies as well. About a decade ago, they phased out the Franco-American brand, and now produce those products under their own name. Gordon Jump is "Mr. Jones"; William Schallert is the announcer.

    • @gcfifthgear
      @gcfifthgear Год назад +1

      Franco-American was a company in its own right (making products, gravies, and, of all things, soups) before Campbell Soup Company acquired it in 1915. The Franco-American brand name was absorbed into the Campbell line of products (such as "Campbell's SpaghettiOs" and "Campbell's Beef Gravy") in 2004

    Franco-American Foods was bought by Campbells in 1915. But since 1990's the Franco-American brand was slowly phased out. Only Franco-American Spaghetti with Meat Balls remains.I for one think Spaghetti-o's should only be marketed under the Frano-American name.
