- A short review of the M3 OBD2 Head Up Display HUD device with a built in Speed Limit Alarm feature and more. This Head Up Display is a very affordable OBD2 Plug and Play device and can be installed on most OBD2 vehicles but not alll. It will also read and display the Battery Voltage of your vehicle and the Temperature. It supports both KPH and MPH and is easily changed in the settings options of the device.

Great job.

Are there any MOT implications, with regard to obstructing the view through the windscreen?
Thank you for your comment. No
Hello. I have a Mercedes E250 2013. I have the same HUD model. I tried several ways to adjust the speed, either it is correct at low speed and not at high speed, or vice versa. Please help me
@DanIva-vn7vn 1. Press and Hold the M Button to enter the Settings menu
2. You need the first setting, which is Option 1
3. Now adjust the speed accuracy. e.g if Speedo displays 100Kmh but HUD displays 105Kmh then by default the algorithm should be 105-2=103 so simply change it to what you need.
4. Press and Hold the M Button to Save your changes and Exit
Hope that helps you
Hey so this version has automatic brightness?
Also why does the website say only gasoline cars?
My car is diesel so it wont work what?
Yes it does support auto brightness. I don't know why it says only gasoline cars on there website, I cannot guarantee it will work with your car, its best to ask the supplier first. One advantage of a GPS HUD over a OBD2 HUD is that it will work with all cars so something like this will work on diesels aswell ruclips.net/video/AOfrtXDzQQA/видео.htmlsi=YkzFDQ0UFCmBr0tf
I got the same meter as you and found it lack the brightness a bit in daylight. Do you have the same issue?
Only in extreme bright light, most of the time it's perfect for me. You can try turning up the brightness level manually in Option 7
Thank you, Would this work on Dodge aveger 2011? Also, i did not see a link to the product. Is it available on Amazon?
It should work on a 2011. Best to check with the supplier to confirm that year first though. Here is the link a.aliexpress.com/_mKqrZFM. Hope that helps you, have a great day
@@SHORTwithTECHthe link doesn’t work anymore is there a new one?
@gxmy you can do a search on aliexpress.com for M3 OBD2 HUD and you will find lots of suppliers selling these
Agreed the instructions could be better, I really like this one its very basic which is what I wanted. I like how its pretty much just the speed I'm going, I don't want distractions. Still struggling to figure out how to adjust the speed as the higher I go the more off it gets usually around 5 to 10 km. Pretty accurate till I go 40km or higher. Great Video thanks for making it.
Thank you I appreciate that. Thats interesting to hear how the speed reading is incorrect as your speed is increased, what year and model car do you have it installed on?
@@SHORTwithTECH A 2024 Mazda 3 Sedan, been rereading the instructions I think I might have figured out how to adjust it. Will try it out next time I go for a drive. I think I either need to either Press M and go to Speed that or hold M and go to 1 to adjust the speed.
@primezero6727 yeh, try this:
1. Press and Hold the M Button to enter the Settings menu
2. You need the first setting, which is Option 1, so you should see parameter 107 displayed now (in Kmh mode)
3. Now adjust the speed accuracy. e.g if Speedo displays 100Kmh but HUD displays 105Kmh then by default the algorithm should be 105-2=103 so simply change it to what you need.
4. Press and Hold the M Button to Save your changes and Exit
Hope that helps you, if not then come back and we will try again, all the best
@@SHORTwithTECH Thank you for those very clear instructions, that fixed it for me. Its no longer off at both low and high speeds and is very accurate now, thank you very much for your help!
@primezero6727 No problem at all, your very welcome. Thank you so much for posting that feedback, it's very useful for my other viewers so I really appreciate it
Very late but does the speed limit thing also beep when your in a 70 or 80 zone? I assume so and if so is there any way to change beep sounds or set multiple with this? Again I assume no
You are 100% correct with your assumptions. Yes the speed alarm will beep at whatever speed you set it to. And no, you cannot setup multiple speed alarms or change the sound of the beeping but like you I wish you could because multiple speed alarms would be a great feature to have
@@SHORTwithTECH ok thanks im probably ghonna buy one i keep thinking about it
@ob1tovr yeh it's a great product. I will be uploading another HUD review in a few weeks so if your not urgent then maybe best to wait because the next HUD review is not one you will want to miss, im currently still testing it but it's a pretty amazing product
@@SHORTwithTECH ill wait then, im on my learners and i have 80 hrs atm and i wanna wait until im off my learners so i dont get to used to it then not when im doing my test
@ob1tovr it's worth the wait to be honest. What kind of car will you be installing it in?
Great video, i owned one and it works well, however i wonder what is 1 to 12 in menu setting, I’ve lost the instructions 😅
Thank you so much. Do you have Instagram? Your instruction manual is on my Instagram here: instagram/shortwithtech.official Hope that helps you 🙂

Thank you. Does it obd2 work for subaru?
To be 100% sure it's best to ask the supplier. Here you go:

Hello there! Thanks for the uploadt! Does it changes between displays automatically? If I wanna see the water temperature sometime do I need to press the buttons while driving? Is it in Celsius? Thanks!
Hi, no it doesn't change automatically, you need to push the button if your driving but when you stop and turn off the Ignition you can set it up to display the temperature for you automatically just before it shuts down. Yes its Celsius by default but it can be changed to fahrenheit in the settings, hope that helps you 🙂
@@SHORTwithTECH Yes that helped a lot. Thank you very much!
@@marcosdasilvacosta723 Glad I could help, have an amazing day 🙂
The speed reading may be perfect, when compared to the car's speedometer, but bear in mind that the speedometer is probably a bit off.
Thank you for your comment
Thanks for aweosme review, is it a lil blur in reality or its just in video? Also Does it have auto brightness, i mean does it get dim in night time?
Thanks man. No it's not blurry in reality, it's very clear in all lights although I do agree the video does make it look blurry, sorry about that. Yes it does have an auto photosensitivity mode or you can also adjust it manually with its 10 brightness settings
@@SHORTwithTECH thank you so much man! Thats a big help. Ordering mine right now.

Can it be changed to mph?
@kenwoolner8606 HI, Yes mph and kph are both supported, hope that helps you
Is this compatible for all cars? I installed this on a Nissan Micra but it only displays zero value
It should be compatible with most cars, but not all cars no. What year Micra is it? it's petrol and not diesel right?
@@SHORTwithTECH Micra 2011, petrol engine
@@ramdhanid.4188 oh, 2011 is not an old model. I would expect that to work no problem. Is it just the speedometer feature that is not working? Do the battery and temperature features work? Does the cars original speedometer work?
@@SHORTwithTECH The original display is normal, no problem. Just display battery voltage
@ramdhanid.4188 I don't have alot of experience with Nissan unfortunately but i would expect all Micras from 2007 onwards to work with this device. Do you know how to read live data parameters through your OBD2 port? If you can successfully read the parameters then the problem is with your HUD so open it up and check for poor soldering or bad connections is what i would do. If you cannot read parameters then it means a 2011 Micra is not compatible with this device which is surprising to hear
Hello I need help because when I’m trying to set the mode to speed but the speed is just saying 0km while I’m driving
What is the car you have it installed on?
@@SHORTwithTECH 2007 hummer h3
@suss_ryzeyt8031 Try unplugging device and reconnecting. You can also try a factory reset under Option 12. If that doesntvwork its possible it's not compatible withn that vehicle
In installed it on an EV without adjusting anything. The speed shows fine but the water temperature icon keeps on flashing. Does anyone knows why?
What year and model EV is it? Is the car battery voltage displayed correct? Does the temperature reading seem to be accurate? Have you cleared the fault codes through the HUD?
It is a 2022 model MG4. I only have readings for the car inside and outside temperatures, but cannot confirm the temperature of the motor. I have not adjusted any of the HUD settings, but left them as set by the manufacturer.
@edwardxuereb1222 is the car battery voltage displayed correct? Have you tried to do a factory reset?
Do you have to turn it on/off every time you ues the car??
No, it turns itself on and off when you turn the ignition on and off
Do you have a Manual for this device? would you send me a picture of it please, i lost mine.
@@xx8dSb8xx it is on my Instagram @shortwithtech.official
Can you turn off the overspeed alarm?
Yes and No. You can't physically turn the overspeed alarm feature off, but you have two options to get around that problem. It can be set as high as 250Km so option 1 would be to set it to a higher speed or option 2 is just turn off the buzzer, there is a feature that just turns the buzzer off altogether. Hope that answers your question 🙂
@@SHORTwithTECHhow do you mute the alarm?
@Dtm.15 Hold down the (-) button for approximately 3 seconds to mute the alarm, and repeat the same again to unmute it when needed
Is it suitable for toyota innova, mate?
Sorry I'm not 100% sure. If it's a late model I'm guessing it should be ok. So far from what my viewers have told me, Nissan has been a problem, Mazda was fine and VW but no one has mentioned Toyota. The supplier will be able to confirm that for you though, contact them through this link, best of luck, please keep us all updated incase others are trying to install it on that same car

@@SHORTwithTECH ohh okay thank you so much for the reply. I was just curious that's all. Thank you! Just curious are most OBD2 speedometers accurate like this? Cause I got a GPS one and it is way off and delayed
@australianllama3114 sorry, i'm unsure of other devices, this is the only HUD i have reviewed so far and I can definitely recommend it. Have a great day
Not trying to rain in your parade, I think these devices are great, but I am concerned about they being plugged and pulling the data constantly from the ECU...the "brain" of the car so to speak...this could burn the electronic unit? the obd2 port is not made for continuous data pulling after all... just wondering if it's safe to use all the time.
Your Gateway will not burn out, the OBD2 Port is just a communication port. If this concerns you there is always a GPS HUD which doesn't connect to your car at all and works just aswell but with limited functionality compared to OBD2 of course, for example, like this one ruclips.net/video/AOfrtXDzQQA/видео.htmlsi=CKTHDs4_ddCbQSUR
