What makes Willis so good was his fundamentals. You just don't see that kind of stuff anymore, no matter what, if Willis touched someone he always had his arms wrapped low around their legs and would stop any forward momentum from the opposing RB in doing so, or would initiate the stop and let the 2-3 defenders coming right after him finish the tackle. It was just picture perfect play from a Middle Linebacker.

Fair enough but I think he knew where he was on the field so he may have been trying to simply push Lynch the few inches he needed to get him out of bounds.
You can see he normally breaks down when he's trying to tackle. On that play he didn't break down at all. Just kinda lunged at him a little off balance
The very first play showed what happens when they both squared up. They ran into each other like Wild Rams and both were knocked back by one another. Then the Niners gang trackled Lynch.
But one on one completely alone and squared up... it was a tie

Notice how you said Willis AND Bowman, not just Willis. Willis had help on just about every single one of those plays. Either that or Lynch was already falling forward. Pat rarely got to him one on one.
