Cool! This is the game that started my wife and I getting into gaming.
My wife owned it and we played it on a weekend trip away down the south coast of Sydney.
We've been buying games ever since.
This is a tuff game to beat but enjoyable.
5th Beatle!! LOL! Love it!
Thank you for that helpful run-through. Little by little, I am beginning to understand this game.
Nice! I've had this sealed on the shelf for years. Time to open it!
Fantastic run-through! Thanks so much!! 😊👍
Going old-school covering older games! Love it! :D
Hear hear. ;)
In 20:32 you say that symbols that aren't available are wilds! That only works for the event tiles. Friendship cards can't be played in Moria!
It was already noted... please turn on the Klingon subtitles to see where Richard goofs up
Played this for the first time yesterday. I thought symbols not shown on the scenario board (e.g., Fellowship in Moria) had no effect... including event tiles.
Thankyou for makeing this video I've been trying to learn this game for ages I can actually play it now thankyou
Still have this in my closet, but never played it... Might have to get to it some time.
26:24 am I wrong that this was not a die roll but Sauron's advancement? The die roll is indicated by a black square, no?
Indeed! That sneaky Richard is at it again!
Those white markers actually start on the first space and not the icons themselves...I played incorrectly and on a more difficult mode for years....EDIT - He fixed it at 13:30
I have won this game ONCE(!)...and it was a close one.
Edit: In my rules Frodo should still be the ring bearer. He had three while Sam had two.
That Sauron piece looks like it should be part of the Oniverse.
I've lost this game sooooooo many times.
New edition coming out!
Awesome, just got this and the rule book is terrible.
Just what was needed a rahdo runs :)
You should read one of Phil Eklund's rulebooks. THAT is terrible. Although he makes terrific games. Look up rahdo runs through High Frontier:

If I understand the rules right, you could/should have put on the Ring when you got to 17 and revealed the event tile... then you get to perhaps finish the scenario (if not unlucky roll), avoid the last die, and although you didn't have full life tokens it's probably not so bad as the consequence of progressing those later events?
good call :)
Do you know where I can download a PDF of the English manual of this version of the game? I got the game in another language.
Thank you for the video!
nice
14:58 I believe Boromir is also a white card :/
The game is more punishing when the rules are played correctly.
do you share your respective hands with the other players or keep them private?
from the rules: Players may not reveal what cards they have in hand, though
they may freely talk about them with other players
Rahdo what is the reason for not showing them then if we can tell each other what we have? Seems like a pointless rule, I must be missing something...I’m what scenarios would it matter?
@@calypsoshoard9132 i believe it's an attempt to minimize the "alpha player" problem where one overbearing teammate looks over everything and makes summary judgement of what everyone should do and prevents everyone else from having fun. the thinking is that if said player can't see everyone's cards, then they have to engage in discussion with the group.
pandemic originally shipped with the exact same rule, though later on they dropped it because it doesn't really succeed at solving the "problem" :)
I appreciate his enthusiasm, but he’s made a lot of mistakes with the rules.
as long as the feel of the gameplay was captured, them i'm okay with a few goofs. and they're always annotated on the klingon subtitle channel, so for folks who worry about such things, there's that :)
